He was simple lucky to come and attend a one to one Swiftlet Farming Seminar and it happened that I was about to start a BH revamp operation immediately after he finished.
This newbie wanted to learn the right way.
Received his friendly call a few months back. He was asking about swiftlet farming seminar.
"If you can wait please attend a planned seminar in KK" I told him.
Well he cannot wait since he was about to start a new work in December 2017.
What I did was to offer him a package where he can attend a one to one seminar and after that follow me to start a BH revamp job nearby.
He accepted the offer and immediately remitted the agreed fee.
I think he wanted to tie me up as fast as he could the moment I told him the date.
He came one day early and rented an executive room at Furama Hotel, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
I came to meet up with him on the day after for breakfast and immediately started the seminar inside his hotel room.
I told him that prior to this I organised one for Mr Barnie Barcelona of the Philippine. The same hotel about 2 months back.
In his case it coincided with a field training at Bukit Gambir, Johor.
The first two days was to cover about 10 papers and I did took him for a spin to Sekinchan to look at various BHs around the padi fields.
The field the training to me was the best.
He managed to finished the four days at the BH and learn a lot of things which I doubt anyone can learn from any other sifus.
Learning and understanding why they should be used in a BH is important.
I hope he will be a successful BH owner in Sabah.
Will keep in touch with him.
Mist pump nozzle holder installation
First time using pneumatic gun to anchor waste wood corners.
He install all those waste wood corners
This was after his hard works

Wanted to let you all know that my swiftlet farming blogspot enter its 10th anniversary recently.
I am very proud that after 10 years I am still writing about swiftlet farming.
My readers benefitted a lot by reading all those articles and I am sure if you practice those ideas your BH will do well.
I just came back from Miri Sarawak after conducting a Swiftlet Farming Seminar for a group of Brunei people.
They were very pleased with what I delivered and at the same time took them to a BH that badly in need of a new life.
What they saw at the BH gave them some ideas what will happened if you have little or no knowledge about what swiftlet farming is all about.
Immediately after the Seminar I flew up to KK to attend a request made by a BH owner whose BH was at Kuala Penyu Sabah.
He fetched me at KK airport and we proceeded to his BH just to get some idea what is not right with his BH.
What I saw inside and outside is a shear wrong concept adopted by his so called consultant.
He finished the BH with a wrong approach.
He wanted all of them to straight away erect their nest in 180* shape.
No 90* and no 135* shape.
As a result of his cruelty the number of nests was very much below the normal number.
What a waste.
Owner waited for 5 years to realize that something is not right with his BH.
For record purposes these people attended my first Swiftlet Seminar in Kuching, Sarawak.
It was a very nice occasion when all who attended were delighted to learn on how to be a successful swiftlet farmer.
Presented 6 papers and in between manage to take all my Seminar Participants to a BH nearby.
The owner of the BH invited us to visit his colorful BH about 20 minutes away.
These were pictures taken during the one day seminar:
I hope there will be another Seminar soon in Kuching. As long there are interest we shall be there to help them with their BH operation.
It shall be for the benefit to those who are new and also those who own BH that are not doing well.

This is just a short story on how this owner managed to move his young birds to occupy his straight nesting planks.
Within 1 months he already counted the visible indication that they have started to more to the middle planks.
This is what this BH was facing.
Located in Raub, Pahang.
Owner contacted me a number of times trying to find out how to move or encourage them to erect their nests on the straight planks.
Just imagine nearly all were found only at those corners.
This BH was with about 1300 nests. However all that it produced was 135* corner shaped nests.
I gave him a simple solution and he pondered on it for a few days.
He wanted to try but initially very reluctant.
He called again and ask for my service to carry out my idea.
I make my way to Raub and inspect how to carry out the method.
After reviewing his BH conditions and started my fake nests preparation.
First to cut them into rectangular shape, apply those SP aroma and show his workers how to install all of them.
After about 3 hours all were installed as a test case only on the chosen floor.
I was very happy with the installation works, need and tidy.

Within 1 month the owner called with a very good news.
"Pak Harry those young birds has started to move".
He countered and found 10 fake nests with sizeable nests markings.
There might be many more with lesser in sizes.
The thing here is that it is working and we can see that they are starting to use the straight part of those nesting planks.
I have told him to proceed with the rest of the floors.
Once the number of nests is 30-40% occupied he should remove all these fake nests.
He was very lucky to have met me.

Yesterday at about 10:00 am visited this BH located somewhere in Kemaman town, Trengganu.
The BH is sandwiched in between two other BHs. Its a row of three stories shop houses that were designed for swiftlet farming, according to him.
Owner have engaged a number of consultants to see how to improve his ICU birdhouse.
He claimed that he did nearly everything that he can think of but failed to get his BH populated.
I saw a number of perfume bottles hung on the walls with those special drip gadget.
After 6 years of operation and two consultants the nest number fluctuate up and down but not more than 30 nests.
Now only 24 nests and he is very disappointed with his total investments.
I took some time to see what can be the reasons why those swiftlet refuse to populate his BH and I told him the followings:
In general his BH was not well designed from the outside and the inside.
The main entrance hole using both the top and side entry is not properly assigned with proper tweeters.
The hexagonal tweeter was more like a DIY piece and wrongly positioned.
The number of external sound tweeters need to be upgraded and with new and more effective tweeters.
New sound techniques should be deployed.
His water pond is not necessary since his BH is about 50 meters away from a river.
His BH is too bright.
The so called consultants who came and ran away with his so called fees were not very well verse with the amount of light that should be allowed to enter the BH nesting rooms.
The BH was with two LAL holes and both were not positioned at the right location where 100% of those birds should fly above it.
There was not VIP room on both floors.
Too many internal sound tweeters.
There was no external sound tweeters at the back of the nesting rooms/
No traps or baits to lure those wild birds to stay.
Internal sound was too noisy.
Amplifiers were not properly set.
He was unlucky with his BH venture.
Now he will be able to use Pak Harry methods of designing the BH external and internal decorations.
Will sit on his BH visit report today and will submit to him what I think it will turn around his BH.
He was very lucky to have met one of my client whose BH was very closed to his BH.
After the inspection operation I invite him to view the successful BH owned and operated by my old client nearby and see how I transformed a 30 nests BH into almost 8 kg of nests, now inside.
The word that came out from his mouth was "Impressive". That was what he said with a wide smile on his face.
He now seems to have the positive vibes about his BH.
"Pak Harry I cannot wait to read your report and I hope the cost to upgrade my BH is within my reach. Every penny will come from my pocket."
I told him that every penny spend after this will worth a million.

I must say that the revamp of Skudai BH is one of the most challenging as compared to others.
Main obstacles are the water supply, electricity and the location deep inside agricultural land.
Every time you forgot something you need to take almost 20 minutes to reach the main road.
The red soil road are full of pits and alleys which will rock you left and right and you feel like riding those roller coasters.
The only way for my workers to use those electrical hand tool and brighten the BH while revamping is to operate a generator set.
As for the water supply I have been pushing the idea of pumping fresh water from a nearby stream using ramp pump.
The owner is away for a holiday and he expect to see birds inside his BH once he is back to Malaysia.
Well that was how easy his line of thought is.
Anyway we have been working very hard to complete the scope of works.
First was to close the old entrance hole and opened a new hole on the building's wall facing the virgin jungle.
The next was to hack the barrier on the roof deck so that the mounting of power tweeters, bazookas and the hexagonal tweeter can take place.
Once those tweeters are installed we need to erect a number of walls to prevent the light penetrating the nesting rooms.
Another wall was to create a VIP room.
The owner decided to upgrade only one floor so that his cost will not kill him. He chooses the middle floor.
While trying to install tweeters inside the VIP room my boys discovered that nearly 50% of the planks are too soft and no longer holding.
We decided to pull the old planks out and install with new planks.
This is where the big challenge starts.
Where to get a readily available stock.
How mush will the planks be and how long will it take to ship them over.
If they need 2-3 weeks my completion schedule will be dead.
Manage to get the lead and quickly drove almost 1.5 hours to a hardware shop at Kota Tinggi.
The shop owner knows me by name.
"I have heard about you from many BH owners and now lucky to meet you in person."
I am not sure if he likes me or hates me. He is also a BH consultant.
Anyway managed to gather some nesting planks and brought them back to Skudai.
The installation begins the moment the planks arrived.
I hope by Monday or Tuesday the wood are in place and at the same time they will start installing those internal and external sound tweeters.
If the installations are done can test the BH.
Perhaps I can move to another BH much earlier.

Yesterday June 12th 2017 stayed back at Tikam Batu BH to count how many birds entered in the evening.
This BH was upgraded or revamped by my workers and after 10 days of hard work we managed to put it into operation on May 26th 2017.
The BH was with about 20-25 nests prior to my revamp operation.
The number of birds inside must be about 40-50 birds (prediction).
After 18 days of operation the number of birds jumped to 80 plus.
This is a good result and I hope within the next few months the number with triple.
The sounds systems now is superior as compared to prior to revamp works.
The floors are wet and each floor is with two VIP rooms.
All the nesting planks were cleaned and applied with attractive aroma.
The number of new internal sound tweeters touches 300 pieces.
There were many fake nests installed.
All these new features must be working well to lure all these new couples to enter and stays.
The best is to wait for another few months to see how many new bird shit spots are found below those tweeters.

It was like a breeze passing by.
I was referring to the latest BH in Pekan Pahang which was revamped about three days ago.
I was first contacted by a person by the name of Mr Chin from Kuantan Pahang.
He wanted me to drive up to Pekan to meet a BH owner who claimed to face "Bird nests not multiplying syndrome".
The BH owner was introduced to me by Chin as Mr Tan.
The first time he met me he thinks that I am another conman prowling for a new victim.
However after asking a few questions he soon realized that Pak Harry have something special especially on his passion about swiftlet farming.
Pak Harry is not a consultant but he is a passionate swiftlet farmer. He loves swiftlet farming and he is the only one who will expose any new method to improve a sick BH.
In his case was not an ICU BH but a normal syndrome where the nests refuse to increase.
Mr Tan BH was with about 10 kg of nests. However it seems that the nests number stop multiplying.
He opened his BH doors for my inspection and about a week later I wrote a complete report in Bahasa.
Immediately after reading he called asking me when I can start the Phase 1. In my visit report I explained to him the real reasons why his BH nests stop multiplying and with it I recommended him to go into Phase 1 and Phase 2.
Phase 1 is to proof that my first few recommendations will be a good start before he gauge my expertise.
I asked him to do just a few small thing.
My first recommendation was to install a hexagonal tweeter precisely above the main entrance door of his top entry BH.
My second recommendation was to reduce the width of his main door from 5' wide to 3' wide.
The door should be framed out using those excess nesting planks that were store somewhere along the staircase.
The third recommendation was to precisely install 8 external tweeters around the new LMB hole.
My last recommendation was to wet the BH floors.
He could not resist my ideas especially when I precisely inform him what is wrong with his BH and how to remove those problems.
The first day when I arrived I started with the hexagonal tweeter installation and changed the door size.
The 8 external sound tweeters were completed before 4:30 pm.
We left the BH but the slight change started to show drastic change in the number of birds started to focus on his BH.
I was there to see together with the owner.
He was very very pleased with the small intervention.
The second day was the major works. I installed the wet floor system.
This wet floor system is the key to draw all his young birds to return to where they were hatched.
I completed the installation and set the timer to run the pump precisely during the day and night.
The smell due to the wet floor changed tremendously.
From today I advised him to use those chow chu kang shoes if he entered his BH.
I asked him not to enter the nesting rooms for at least 3-4 months.
I think there will some changes that will make him feel very very happy.
Let me share you those photos taken during the renovation works.

Today will pick up my boys and travel to Pekan Pahang.
I will take about 3 hours plus minus to reach my destination from Kuala Lumpur.
Main purpose for this trip is to help this BH owner with his BH.
Based on my last trip he complained that his 9 years old BH is facing a stagnant nests syndrome.
The nests number is no longer multiplying. It stop growing about 2-3 years ago, according to him.
I wrote my visit report about 40 pages inclusive of my observations and recommendations.
He was very happy with my findings and immediately asked me to assemble those recommended gadgets and workers.
Once arrive I need to carry out the nest count. Once that is done I will installed a number of key gadgets to activate the nests to start multiplying.
The entrance hole will be installed with a new set of tweeters.
The nesting planks will be cleaned and installed with specialized equipment.
At the same time the floor will be wet using those specialized BH floor wetting equipment.
A new amplifier will be installed playing an additional internal sound.
The current external sound will be upgraded.
Once the installation is completed I will ask the owner to allow the BH not to be disturbed for about 3-4 months.
This will be the recuperating time after a major surgery.
Will come again to check its progress after 3-4 months.
I am sure it will back to normal with a jump in nest numbers.
Let me inform you all once the job is done.
If your BH is facing similar problem please call me at 017 7551318

Another BH that is critical and need some expert help.
Owner claimed that after almost 3-4 years the person who took charge went missing.
He need to force his way into his own BH when he can no longer traced the person who promised to deliver the BH with 10 nests.
Maybe due to design failure those birds simple refuse to enter and stay.
Right now if I am not mistaken the number of nest might be about 5-8 pieces.
Critically ill and more or less in ICU state.
After viewing inside I think I know the reasons.
I need to crack my head on what to be done if the owner wanted to see more nests.
My biggest concern are the followings:
1) The BH is with not water supply. Its due to its distance from the water supply line. The owner claimed that there is a stream nearby but I doubt his words. The only wise solution is to harvest the rain water..
2) Another short coming is the power supply. There is no power supply except a solar power system. The use of battery store energy has a lot of limitation. For example how will my workers run those power tools during revamp operation. Also the power in the three batteries might not be able to operate any water spray system or pumps.
3) This 3rd item is what I hate most. The ceiling height of each floor is about 12 feet high. Its difficult to work on those nesting planks like installation of tweeters or fake nests. I don't dare to climb up those ladders or racks.
4) Nearly every partition walls found inside this BH are made of bricks. If I wanted to remove any of the walls I need to hack them down and lifting those broken brick to the ground floor will be a major task.
I guess I need to firstly write a full report and submit to the owner.
Once he read them perhaps he can decide what he wanted to do with it.
Keep your fingers cross.
I was not surprised what happen to Tikam Batu BH the moment the external sound was played.
The birds flew into the LMB and followed the sound until the furthest room on the top floor.
Why was it so easy for them to fly into the LMB and straight to the back of the building?
The answer lies with the way those external sound tweeters were installed.
The moment these birds passed each tweeter there will be another follow up tweeter that will pull them further inside.
The sound will be continuous this make them not to make a U turn towards the LMB.
Its how those tweeters were installed.
Just look at the way they entered and moved inside.
If you are facing problems where those birds are not entering the nesting room just call 017 7551318

With one external sound only
With two external sounds playing.
The Tikam Batu BH (TBBH) is currently running with two external sounds.
The first external sound is running on the 2 bazookas and 6 Power Tweeters mounted around the Monkey house roof areas.
The left side went to the two Bazookas and the right hand line went to the power tweeters.
The Bazookas is slightly louder as compared to the Power Tweeters.
The second sound is pushing the second external sound to all external sound tweeters at the LMB, inside the BH and the hexagonal tweeter.
The volume at the LMB is slightly higher as compared to those sounds inside the BH.
To practice this method you need to carefully plan your cable connections to all your external sound playing tweeters.
Firstly I planned how many bazookas will be installed on the roof top, how many power tweeters, how many hexagonal tweeters and how many external sound tweeters.
Once they are installed I will instruct which cable must be connected to which tweeters.
They have to be specific line and separated. Also need to pull them into the data room.
Once that is done every cable must be properly identified and labelled.
The next stage is to prepare two amplifiers to activate the selected sound.
The labelled cables can be connected to which amplifier chosen for the sound selected.
The use of dual external sounds seems to attract more birds as compared to using only one.
The above clip seems to be the proof.

I wanted to share the list of things that were carried out in this Tikam Batu BH.
This BH after my site visit the owner refuse to allow me to prepare a proper visit report.
I worked on the proposed budget on what I thought of doing and the owner instructed me to move over.
He refused to wait for the report and the reason was obvious.
"I have suffered long enough and I can no longer wait for my bh to be revamped similar to the one you did in Lenggong Perak"
The exact words from his mouth.
My articles about Lenggong BH that was revamped almost 3 years ago:
http://swiftletfarming.blogspot.my/2014/07/lenggong-bh-at-last-completed.html
http://swiftletfarming.blogspot.my/2014/07/lenggong-bh-revamp-operation-started-on.html
http://swiftletfarming.blogspot.my/2014/06/a-bh-in-lenggong-perak.html
I took it as a compliment and accepted his revamp job.
It seems that he met the Lenggong BH owner and heard a lot of progress after my revamp works.
Immediately after that he realized that his BH needed my personal touches too.
These were the list of things I did in his BH:
1) Removed the roof above the monkey house. My main reason was to have access to those areas where I wanted to install external sound tweeters (hexagonal, bazookas and power tweeters) and light. The monkey house already have a cement slab above it. My full team took almost 2 days to finish the demolition.
2) Relocate the main entrance hole so that it will facing the Padi field areas and at the same time reducing the light polluting the nesting room. I choose a spot on the wall of the monkey house and opened a smaller hole about 2.5 feet wide by 3 feet high. The current entrance hole was totally closed since it was located directing facing the main entrance door and make the top floor too bright.
3) Due to wrongly placed LAL hole, a new opening was created. The new LAL hole was about 6 feet wide by 7 feet long. I took almost three solid days and 2 workers to hack it up. Once hacked the steel bars were cut and the hole mouth were smoothed finished.
4) One very crucial operation that were carried on the 2 floors (only revamped 2 floors) was the erection of walls that will force those wild birds to 100% fly above the LAL hole and block those bright lights. Each floor was with at least 2 VIP rooms, one roving and the other for the LAL hole.
5) All old tweeters were removed together with those cables. These old tweeters were burned and a new set of internal and external sound tweeters were installed at various strategic locations. Main objective is to pull those wild birds to the VIP rooms and once they stayed there they will feel at home.
6) Once the roof of the monkey house was cleared, a number of tweeters inclusive of Bazookas, power tweeters and hexagonal tweeters were set precisely around the monkey house walls. Main objective is to push two external sounds to pull as many swiftlet as possible to the BH monkey house rooftop.
7) Before tweeters installation, I removed almost all corner covers. Those that were facing the flying path were taken down and burned. Found out that a number of the 90* corners were infested with cockroaches.
8) I did some cleaning of all these nesting planks using salt water spiked with two cupfuls of Tanali vinegar. Main reason is to remove those thick dust and spore accumulated on the plank surfaces. The sale and Tanali helps to prevent fungus from growing. The plank surfaces now smell cleaner after the cleaning.
9) After tweeters installation I did installed about 500 pieces of fake nests made of styrofoam. I used knife and a hot wire cutter to shape it to my liking. These fake nests will be like a bait when you do fishing. I can assure you that nearly 80-90 % of the new nests will be found on these fake nests.
10) To make the BH wet the top floor was installed with a 15 nozzles mist pump. Perfect from a floor of about 70' X 20' size floor. More nozzles were installed inside the VIP rooms.
11) The second revamped floor was installed with two chicken coop humidifiers activated using a timer. I set it at 30 minutes Avery 2 hours. Tested and both humidifiers performed well.
12) The cables connecting the bazookas, power tweeters, external sound tweeters, hexagonal tweeters and all those internal sound tweeters need to be pulled into the data room. This was messy and each cable need to be tagged. However it was done without any problem.
13) The next scope of works was to install the four amplifiers, they were saperately attached and controlled by hager timers. There were two external sound playing amplifiers and 2 for the internal sound playing tweeters.
14) The most painful work to do was to remove all those sisa woods, dust, cement boards and etc. Managed to engage a local worker to clean up the left overs. He was very happy to clear all of them.
15) I did the sounds selections. Two best and most attractive sounds for the external sounds and one type of sound for the internal.
16) Also installed an owl trap inside the monkey house. I advised him to buy and install two more to be on the safe side. Every evening there were at least 2-4 owls prowling on his BH roof top. These owls must be those who used the top and monkey house areas as their nests before.
17) One additional works inside the monkey house was the erection of a sloping wall to cover the cement extension slabs. My workers decided to cover it with cement board.
The BH was put to test for a number of days and they looks fined.
The owner after paying his final visit was very happy with what was done inside and outside his BH.
He confessed to me that I was the fourth consultant and I am the best.
After handing over he paid all the balance dues.
I was happy for him and I told him that if he take good care of his BH and no attack by those owls he will see the changes soon.
He smiled and thank me (halal) for all the works that was done inside and outside.
Best of luck to him.
I am 110% sure this BH will be doing fine.

About to remove the wooden trust of the monkey house roof.
It was very obvious the main reason why this 8 years old BH was not performing.
I found out that the BH housed four owl nests.
Two inside the monkey house latch and two on the roof of the monkey house.
While trying to figure out how to install those external sound tweeters (hexagonal, power tweeters and bazookas) I came out with a drastic idea to totally removed the roof of the monkey house.
It ceiling was already covered with cement slab so the function of the asbestos made roof was redundant.
I instructed by workers to find their ways up to the roof and dismantle the wooden trusts and the asbestos.
It was during this time they found out that the roof was with two owl nests.
One of it was with 4 fresh eggs.
Well this was nothing new since this BH is surrounded with padi fields and more often the agri department encourage padi farmers to release those owls.
Another surprised was when my workers was trying to open a new entrance hole inside the monkey house.
The monkey house was with this 1/2 cement slab that was used as a working platform.
However due to some reason it was occupied by another two owl nests.
This make me feel that if the owner know how to tackle this owl issues his BH should have been well populated.
What I suggested for him to consider was to increase the number of owl traps.
I already installed one and I suggested that he install a few more (may be another 1-2).
Another predator that were not considered serious were those cockroaches.
To my surprise this BH has an acute number of nesting areas of those big fat cockroaches.
Their favorite were in between the nesting planks and the cement walls or slab.
They also seems to love those small triangular shape hole created by corner covers.
BH owner should be aware about cockroaches in their BH.
Wise to spray the BH with insecticides on a regular basis.
If your BH faced a similar problem please call me to inspect and tell you what to do.

After three weeks with the Telang BH I will be moving my attention to his BH located at Tikam Batu BH.
The BH is located somewhere on this map.
A three stories building located facing a padi field.
The BH was erected about 5-6 years ago and due to some reason it was not performing well.
Based on what I was told the number of nests was below 100 pieces.
I was called to inspect this BH in 2014 however due to some reasons the owner aborted my skill.
He did not call me to explain why however about 2 months ago he was begging me to revamp.
A sudden change of heart and I think I know why.
He stumbled on old friend whose BH was erected by the same consultant like his.
This owner informed his about his BH progress after being revamped by his "Sifu".
His sifu happened to be me.
Right now I told him to get ready to house my workers and at the same time help me with some of the revamp operation.
I need at least 10-14 days to complete the revamp operation and I assured him that he will see the changes.
A list of things that I need to do will be posted in my next posting.
Let me share with you all how bad and what happen once the revamp operation will change the life of this BH.

While in Sandakan, Sabah met a BH owner who order about 1000 pieces of plastic fake nests.
He wanted to have a cup of coffee and I consented.
He confided to me that the reason why he ordered plastic fake nests and internal tweeters was because of his new BH.
I knew about him having a BH before so this new BH is his second.
Well well well.
He is moving and adding another BH into his collection.
This was when I told him that he is doing well and I hope he knows how to maximize his 1st BH.
"Have you ever thought of accelerating your nests population of your 2nd BH by using your 1st BH?"
I asked him.
He was a bit puzzled by my question and look deep into my eyes as if his mind was totally blank with no answer.
I am sure there is a list of things that you can transfer from your BH number 1 into your new BH and these things can help to increase the rate of populating it.
"Like what?"
Think carefully and I am sure you know them. I told him.
Let me try to list a few:
1) Bird shit. You can transfer them in big quantity, This will mask the cement smell and make the smell of your BH better.
2) Used Fake Nests: If I were you I will use half of those newly acquired fake nests inside your old BH and let them be occupied. Once they leave their markings you harvest them and transfer them into your new BH.
3) Raw Nest: You can harvest some raw nests and soak them into fresh water for about 2 days. On the first day sieve the nest and blend them. Once properly blended soak them back into the water. On the 2nd day you can sieve and use those fermented water. Apply on all your planks using good morning towel.
4) Swiftlet eggs: Might want to collect a few pieces and throw them on the walls of the second BH.
5) Dead carcass. Maybe the smell of those dead birds on the floor will make the smell of your BH well liked by your new tenants. Collect those dead birds and move them into your 2nd BH. Make sure you sprinkle some ants poison around the carcasses.
6) Baby birds: You might want to know about this term "Translocation". Translocation is when you move those young birds over from one point to your empty BHs. Try those that are about to fly ie 43 days old. Try to check on their wings. If their wings started to cross each other the young birds are ready to be Translocated. You need to erect a proper release room for this purposes.
Well you might want to add many other things.
My main point is that you do have a number of things that are usefull inside your 1st BH that you can transfer to the 2nd BH of yours.

After three days working and guiding those locals to finish decorating a BH in Sandakan, Sabah, I managed to see some interesting results.
With the monkey house completed and sound system installed carried out the bird call operation just to see how effective it will be.
Every evening from 6:00 pm on wards the number of swiftlet responded were wonderful.
The owner enjoyed the view and I am sure he is very keen the start his BH as soon as he can.
Just enjoy all these pictures and clips.
Will write more once I am a bit free.

A very unusual thingwhen the number of birds entering in the evening jumped by 121% as compared to the month earlier.
This was precisely what really happened in this Pedas BH.
The BH was handed over to me on a JV basis due to its poor performance for almost 6 years into operation.
I was asked to do what ever I wanted to and nurse it until such time the house is normal.
The owner in a way forced me to take over and help it.
I took the offer due to several reasons and most important was its closed proximity to where I am staying.
What I told the owner was to arrest the owls entering the BH.
After which I revamped only the top most floor.
The rest of the floor can be modified once the top floor nests population is satisfactory.
As such my lay out to finance the revamp operation was about 1/3 as compared to working on all the three floors.
Once revamped I added lots of external and internal sound tweeters.
I introduced the hexagonal tweeter.
More external sound tweeters were added to pull those birds the moment they entered the LMB hole towards the back of the floor.
Created necessary VIP rooms.
Spray Mutiara aroma nearly every month.
Change the external and internal sounds twice.
Got hole of a neighbor to inform me if the external sound is dead.
After 4 months the number of birds climbed from 8 to 46.
Yesterday, the number of birds leaped to 102 after 5 months into operation.
I believed that it will continue to increase if there is no disruptions either to the sound system or attack from predators (owls especially).
Very pleased to write to the owner about her BH performing.
How I wish next month the number of birds jump to 204 birds.
Another 100 % up.
Why not?
I have listed a number of things to be done.
One very crucial is the installation of a water storage tank to humidify the BH.
The water droplets will help to wet the BH floor, increase the room humidity and of course will reduce the room temperature slightly.
Swiftlet love Bh that is cool and wet.

If you observe this video clip carefully you can see a black bird on the top of Hexagonal tweeter,
This black bird was a crow.
The moment they observed lots of swiftlet playing around the rooftop areas they will stand at those locations where they can plug the birds.
I was having a kind of nightmare on how to prevent them to hang around the BH.
The only method that came to my mind was to apply those rat glues above the hexagonal and the rest of the areas where they might perched to snap my swiftlet.
So who is going to climb up onto the roof?
The only solution was to bring my worker who is not scared of height.
He came and I provided a few tins of rat glue.
He went up and applied to my desire.
Look at this clip:
Now I can see that the chances of having crows on the top of the monkey house is slim.

Side wall to block those light
Look at the materials used as a wall in Kepala Batas BH.
I have experimented on the use of black cloth as the walls.
The cloth will reduce any light and at the same time soft and will not injure the BH tenants in the event they hit the wall.
VIP room wall.

I have been informed and observed this powerful method on how to lure your neighbor's birds into your BH.
Please study this article:
http://swiftletfarming.blogspot.my/2016/04/btb-something-that-is-worth-to-explore.html
Last week decided to test the phenomena in Kepala Batas BH.
The entrance hole was reduced to only one and at the same time the main entrance hole was reduce to only about 1.5' by 1.5'.
While the LMB was reduced in size the floors were modified by additional walls, tweeters and fake nests.
This is more like doing an upgrade to welcome the new year for those swiftlet.
Will report of its progress after a few months into operation.
This was the initial flying in which takes about 4-5 minutes of heavy activities.
This was what happen when the main entrance hole was reduced.
The smaller LMB hole will force those swiftlet to get into a kind of que.
This longer then usual que will generate a kind of sound which can attract other birds that are passing by or from your neighbors.
The que will get longer and longer once the number of birds inside your BH increased.
The longer the que the more will it attract those wild birds.
Need to see its progress after a few months.
Used to be this large size:
The original LMB size
The same hole was reduced to force those birds to que in the evening when they return home to roost.
Reduced in size.

They maybe cute but if they occupy your BH you might need to clear all of them.
I was on a chat with a newbie whose father passed away and he was given the task to manage his BH.
One of his biggest nightmare was the present of many bats inside the BH.
Well the first thing he asked was how to remove these bats.
