How to Style a Green and Neutral Fall Entryway with Vintage Charm 13 Oct 2:30 AM (14 days ago)

It is not often I share this little glimpse of my house. It is definitely hard to photograph and serves as a not-so-glamorous purpose of shoe storage and a catchall. It needed an update for me to be happy with it again, so I moved some things around and redecorated it for fall.

The inspiration were these beautiful green pumpkins. If you have been following me for the past few years, the fact that pumpkins have graced my house is astonishing haha. I have opted for no pumpkins most fall seasons because I feel like they are oversaturating all the Pinterest and Instagram feeds when there are so many other ways to decorate for fall. When I found this beautiful color though, I was smitten and wanted to use them in a space in my home.

I know I use green and white for almost every season, and truthfully, fall should not be an exception! These green pumpkins mix so well with the textures of fall, yet adding eucalyptus stems and dried grasses ties it all in.

Texture and fall go hand in hand. This is where the scalloped jute rug plays its main role, grounding the space and adding that warm, organic touch. The woven baskets under the console table bring in even more natural texture while keeping things functional — perfect for storing blankets, books, or (let’s be honest) the random shoes that end up here.

Lighting is also a key to make a space feel warm. This lamp was a thrifted find for just $1! It turns on with a touch, and creates the perfect inviting ambiance when on. I love how the soft glow reflects off the gold frames and mirror, making everything feel cozy and welcoming as soon as you walk in.

The gallery wall above the entry table has grown over time and includes some of my favorite pieces and collected frames. It’s an ever-evolving space that stays mostly the same throughout the seasons — I love that it brings a little vintage charm no matter what time of year it is. The ornate gold mirror ties everything together and instantly elevates the space, adding just the right amount of elegance to balance out the earthy fall tones.

A soft mauve throw draped over the side of the console adds a gentle pop of color and warmth while still keeping within that soft, neutral palette I love. Pairing it with creamy pottery, layered books, and brass candlesticks gives this corner that cozy, lived-in look I always aim for.

This little entryway might be one of the hardest spaces in my house to photograph, but now it’s one of my favorite spots to walk by each day. It feels like fall without being overdone — simple, cozy, and full of texture. Just how I like it.

If you are like me, you like to see all the other details as well! Here are a few more pictures to look at.

Fall is finally gracing the rest of my house this week. The cooler weather has brought snow to our mountains and leaves to the ground. This has made me want to bring in all the layers, cozy fall feels, and warmer colors. I haven’t shared this living room with you since I changed the layout awhile ago, and it’s been interesting getting used to the new angles! I’m excited to finally share this with you and the cozy fall updates I’ve been working on. I also have some new plans coming for this space that’ll make it feel even warmer and more inviting.

For now, here’s my fall living room! The layout change put my longer couch along the hallway wall and the other couch and chair in a corner on the opposite side of the room.

100 Non-Candy Halloween Treats to Hand Out (Teal Pumpkin Ideas) 6 Oct 3:00 AM (21 days ago)

100 non-candy halloween treats will love graphic

Every year, my kids come home from trick-or-treating with bags stuffed full of candy. They’re thrilled that night, sorting through it all, trading with friends, and sneaking a few bites before bedtime. But here’s the thing: most of it sits in the pantry for weeks—sometimes months—until I eventually throw it out. The truth is, they just don’t eat it all. And honestly, I don’t love having mountains of sugar hanging around the house either.

That’s why I get so excited when they come home with non-candy treats. The glow sticks, the silly straws, the little toys—they actually play with those longer than the candy lasts! How I Like to Hand Them Out

I usually keep two bowls by the door: one with candy (because let’s be honest, kids still love the classic stuff) and one with these non-candy goodies. The funny thing? My kids and their friends almost always reach for the toys first. Glow sticks and squishy toys seem to win over a mini Snickers every time.

Halloween will probably always be about candy, but it doesn’t *only* have to be about candy. I love offering up little surprises that kids can enjoy long after October 31st. And knowing I’m helping kids with allergies or parents who’d rather not have another bag of sugar sitting around makes it even better. So this year, I’m filling up my teal pumpkin and making Halloween about smiles, not just sugar highs.

Vintage Fall Cottage Living Room Decor – Cozy, Neutral & Timeless 2 Oct 7:06 PM (24 days ago)

Neutral fall living room with cottage-style decor, layered rugs, cozy textures, and vintage furniture.
Scalloped Jute Rug: LinK similar

Every fall I find myself craving a softer, cozier look in our front living room. This year, instead of the traditional pumpkin overload, I leaned into vintage charm, warm textures, and pieces that feel collected over time. The result? A cozy fall cottage living room that instantly makes you want to curl up with a blanket and a good book.

Almost everything in this space is secondhand, passed down, or thrifted. I love that layered, “lived in” feeling that comes from using furniture and decor with history. It not only saves money, but it also gives your home a story that feels unique and personal.

The Mantel: A Warm Vintage Focal Point

The old wood mantel I found second-hand is the anchor of the room. Instead of filling it with pumpkins, I used dried gourds and other fall like elements. I swagged greenery across the top and tucked in bunches of dried stems for texture. I like how the earthy colors of the gourds and stems play beautifully with the deep wood tones of the mantel.

I placed my collection of vintage brass candlesticks along the mantel. And above it all hangs my great-great-grandmother’s antique mirror. The glass has that smoky, timeworn look for a fired it survived. I love the way it reflects the flicker of the candles when lit, adding a little magic to the evenings.

On the opposite side, I added some dried gourds to bring in some warm tones.

One of my favorite details is the “fireplace insert” of old book pages. Layering them together gave the mantel depth and character, while tying in the love of vintage books I sprinkled throughout the room.

In front of the fireplace I added this beautiful table I found at a local vintage store. The curves, color, and price won me over! This became the perfect side table to hold some favorite books and lamp I made from my last post (tutorial here)

Tip: If you don’t have a working fireplace, filling it with book pages, stacked logs, or even baskets of blankets is a simple way to make it cozy and seasonal.

A Neutral, Cozy Fall Living Room

Instead of leaning on bright oranges, I decorated with neutrals and greens—soft sage, creamy whites, and muted earthy tones. This keeps the space calm and cohesive, but still feels seasonal. Cozy textures are layered everywhere: chunky knit throws, tasseled blankets, linen pillows, and jute rugs.

On the floor, I placed a scalloped jute rug layered beneath a bench I repurposed as a coffee table. The scalloped detail adds a cottage-style sweetness, while the texture grounds the whole room. I topped the bench with a large woven basket filled with dried gourds and trailing greenery for an easy fall centerpiece.

Tip: Don’t be afraid to use benches or small tables as coffee tables. Not only are they usually thrift-store bargains, but their unique shapes add character and interest.

Cottage Style with Vintage Finds

The secondhand secretary hutch is another favorite in this room. I filled it with worn, vintage books and little thrifted treasures.

Stacked books also show up throughout the room—on side tables, tucked into baskets, and even under lamps. They add instant charm and warmth without spending a dime.

Most of the furniture is a mix of thrifted pieces collected over the years, I tied it together with this slipcover couch and cozy accents.

This clock is a new find as well I got from a friends garage sale. It's beautiful and timeworn and fits perfectly in this old barrister's bookcase.

I wouldn't say I have a favorite second-hand piece in here...but this chair is pretty close! I love how it goes with any season.

This chair holds one of my favorite new pillows. This shows how well new and old can co-exist.

Tip: If you want a home that feels welcoming and timeless, start with secondhand furniture. Imperfections like scratches, fading, or chippy paint add personality that new pieces just can’t replicate.

Bringing it All Together

What makes this room feel so cozy is the layering of textures and the mix of history-rich pieces. The antique mirror, thrifted furniture, dried gourds, vintage books, and brass candlesticks all work together to create a space that feels warm, collected, and lived in.

This fall cottage living room isn’t about perfection—it’s about comfort, charm, and creating a place you actually want to spend time in. With a neutral color palette, cozy layers, and a touch of vintage character, it’s proof that fall decorating doesn’t have to be expensive or overdone. Sometimes the simplest details—like a dried stem or an old book—make the biggest impact.

I couldn’t resist sharing a few more snaps of this cozy little fall living room. There were too many details I loved to leave out—so here’s a little photo dump of everything that makes this space feel warm and collected this season.

31 Cozy + Fun Things to Do This Fall 2 Oct 6:56 PM (24 days ago)

31 cozy things to do this fall graphic with fall images in warm colors

Hey friends! Fall is officially here, and you know I’m all about soaking up every single cozy moment. There’s just something about the crisp air, crunchy leaves, warm drinks, and pumpkins on every corner that makes this season feel magical.

So, I thought it would be fun to put together a fall bucket list—31 things to do, one for every day of the month. Some are simple, some are memory-makers, but all of them will help you slow down and really enjoy this beautiful season.

Grab a pen, make your own checklist, and let’s dive in!

31 Things to Do This Fall

  1. Go for a long walk and crunch as many leaves as possible. (Yes, it still counts as exercise)
  2. Visit a pumpkin patch and pick one that’s way too big to carry gracefully.
  3. Bake a loaf of pumpkin bread (bonus points if your whole house smells like cinnamon).
  4. Decorate your mantel with fall garland, pumpkins, and cozy candles.
  5. Sip hot apple cider on the porch while wrapped in a blanket.
  6. Try a new soup recipe—butternut squash, chili, or creamy potato are all winners.
  7. Make a DIY wreath with leaves, pinecones, or dried florals.
  8. Host a fall movie night—Hocus Pocus, You’ve Got Mail, or any cozy classic.
  9. Light a candle that smells like fall (pumpkin, apple, or campfire, your pick).
  10. Jump in a pile of leaves—yes, adults are allowed.
  11. Make s’mores over a firepit (or your stovetop if it’s cold out).
  12. Go on a hayride at a local farm.
  13. Bake an apple pie from scratch (store-bought crusts totally count).
  14. Try a new fall coffee drink that isn’t your usual PSL.
  15. Take a drive to see the changing leaves—bring snacks and a playlist.
  16. Visit a farmers market and grab seasonal produce.
  17. Make your own fall simmer pot (cinnamon sticks, orange slices, cloves… yum).
  18. Have a cozy reading night with a blanket, tea, and a good book.
  19. Carve pumpkins or paint them if you’re not into the mess.
  20. Make a fall craft with your kids (or yourself!)—Dollar Tree has great supplies.
  21. Go apple picking and see how many recipes you can make with your haul.
  22. Stock up on cozy blankets—because there’s no such thing as too many.
  23. Roast pumpkin seeds after carving (so good with a little sea salt).
  24. Take a nature walk and collect pinecones for decorating later.
  25. Visit a corn maze and try not to get lost for an hour.
  26. Make homemade hot chocolate with extra whipped cream.
  27. Plan a fall picnic with soup in thermoses, blankets, and pie for dessert.
  28. Decorate your porch with mums and pumpkins for that instant fall curb appeal.
  29. Write down three things you’re grateful for (fall is the perfect reset season).
  30. Try a cozy fall cocktail or mocktail—apple cider mules are amazing.
  31. End the month with a bonfire night under the stars.

Fall goes by way too fast, so let’s not let it slip by without soaking up every cozy little moment. Which one of these are you going to check off first?

How to Make a Lamp Out of Almost Anything (No Wiring Required!) 25 Sep 10:36 PM (last month)

This post contains affiliate links.

You all know I love a good DIY project, and this one might be the easiest (and most genius) yet. If you’ve ever wished you could turn a vase, candlestick, or even a plant pot into a lamp—this hack is for you. With just a rechargeable light bulb and a simple lamp shade, you can create a cordless DIY lamp out of almost anything in your home. No wiring, no drilling, no stress—just instant cozy lighting wherever you want it.
DIY lamp made from a vase using a rechargeable cordless bulb and lamp shade.

This is hands-down one of my favorite DIY lamp hacks because it’s affordable, fun, and completely customizable. Ready to see how it’s done? Grab your supplies...

What You’ll Need

Step 1: Pick Your Base

Your home is full of potential lamp bases—you just don’t know it yet! Tall candlesticks make chic buffet lamps, vases are perfect for bedside tables, and even planters or jars can be transformed into statement lighting. Just make sure your base is heavy enough to support a shade without tipping over.

Here's a candlestick I used. It's heavy and has somewhat larger top part.

And here's another idea with this cute wicker bottle.

Step 2: Add the Light

Here’s the magic: simple add the lamp shade to the top of the vase or candlestick. Pop the bulb on top, and you officially have a lamp—without ever touching a wire! I like the rechargeable light bulbs that have a magnetic bottom. This helps keep it on a little bit better.

Here's the steps in pictures below:

Step 3: Style It Your Way

Place your new DIY cordless lamp on a nightstand, console table, or shelf and use the remote to turn it on! The best part is you’re not tied to an outlet, so you can finally add lighting to those dark corners or tricky spots in your home.

Instead of spending a ton of money searching for the “perfect” lamp, you can repurpose what you already own into something functional and beautiful. This DIY vase lamp trick is affordable, creative, and gives you the freedom to design lighting that actually works with your style! I love easy decor hacks like this!

Cozy Cottage Fall Dining Room Decor | Tour 2025 18 Sep 9:15 PM (last month)

This post contains affiliate links

One of my favorite things about decorating for fall is how warm and layered everything feels when it’s all finished. This season, I really leaned into cozy cottage vibes for my dining room, and I can’t wait to take you on a little tour. I used simple swaps, vintage finds, and a few fun hacks to get the look without spending a fortune.
Cozy fall dining room decorated with brown and white hydrangeas, amber bottles, brass candlesticks, and layered throws.
(all links to shop my home at bottom of post)

When I first started pulling this room together, I knew I wanted the star of the show to be hydrangeas. I mixed brown and creamy white stems for a soft but moody palette that feels perfectly fall. The centerpiece is a large stone vase overflowing with them, paired with amber bottles and brass candlesticks for extra character.

To give the vase a little more height and presence, I placed it on top of an antique book—a super easy trick to remember if your centerpiece ever feels like it’s sinking too low.
Cottage cozy dining room with hydrangea centerpiece, plaid throw on a bench, and Pioneer Woman brown toile plates.

Instead of using a traditional tablecloth, I layered two matching throws across the table. It instantly added warmth and texture without feeling too formal. Layering is really key when you’re going for a cottage look.

I carried that same idea over to the seating: I replaced three wooden chairs with a bench, then added a plaid throw across it for another cozy layer.

On the head chairs, I placed embroidered burnt orange pillows with leafy details that tie the whole color scheme together.

One of my favorite little hacks on this table are the napkin rings—they’re actually drawer pulls I found at Hobby Lobby! Not only are they unique, but they add just the right amount of charm and texture.

The place settings themselves are a mix of scalloped chargers, mismatched plates, and the prettiest brown toile salad plates from The Pioneer Woman’s new line. Using mismatched dinnerware is one of the easiest ways to make your table feel collected over time, even if you just grabbed them all in one shopping trip.

With the shorter bench, I ended up with an extra empty space. Instead of adding an unusable placesetting, I swapped it with a tray that holds milk, sugar, extra napkins, and stirring spoons. It makes hosting so much easier, plus it looks pretty sitting out.

On the floor, I styled a basket filled with dried gourds and hydrangeas to balance the space where the bench doesn’t fully cover. Little touches like this keep the room from feeling sparse and instead add layers of coziness.

Beyond the table, I carried the fall touches around the room. My pie safe is topped with more brown hydrangeas to echo the table’s centerpiece.

A corner hutch holds vases and stone pots, keeping things simple but tied together.

And the larger hutch in the back of the room is one of my favorite focal points—it’s styled with my collection of ironstone, stoneware, vintage-inspired drawers, and more plates and vases. These collections are what really make a room feel cottagey and personal.

If you’re looking to create your own cozy cottage fall dining room, here are a few of my go-to tips:
  • Layer, layer, layer. Use throws, pillows, baskets, and florals to add depth and warmth.
  • Mix old and new. Vintage books, candlesticks, or stoneware pair beautifully with newer finds like toile plates.
  • Think outside the box. Drawer pulls as napkin rings, throws as tablecloths—use what you have in new ways.
  • Play with height. Use books, trays, or stacked plates to give your centerpieces more presence.
  • Bring it full circle. Carry your color scheme into surrounding furniture and accent pieces for a cohesive look.

I love how this room came together—it feels collected, cozy, and ready for all the gatherings fall brings. Hopefully, these little tricks and details inspire you to give your own dining space a cozy cottage refresh this season.

Cozy Cottage Porch Decorating Ideas You’ll Want to Copy 10 Sep 8:17 PM (last month)

This post contains affiliate links.

I feel like every year I share my summer porch almost close to fall...but that's when all the plants are pretty and my vines are nice and long! Being a little later in the year, I had some fun mixing my real plants with some faux blooms. I wish I had a wonderful green thumb, but truth is, the fact that the vines are vining is a miracle haha. So, the blooms come and go and aren't looking stellar so this is a perfect way to keep my porch looking inviting. I also added a beautiful olive plant and fiddle leaf fig this year...hoping they will survive the winter indoors! I'm not a plant mom...so having real plants indoors like this will be new to me!
White DIY porch chair with neutral pillows, jute rug, and potted olive tree for cozy cottagecore porch decor.

I always feel like a porch should be an extension of my home, so that’s exactly what I try to create out here. For me, pulling off the perfect cottage porch decor is all about layering textures, mixing greenery, and adding those soft cozy elements that make you want to sit down and stay awhile.

For seating, I kept things super simple with my DIY wood chairs (you all know I love a good DIY project—if you missed the tutorial, you can find it [here]). I piled them high with neutral cushions, tassel pillows, and soft throw blankets. Nothing feels more inviting than being able to curl up with a blanket on a breezy late summer evening. Since my porch is on the smaller side, just two statement chairs are all I need to make it feel cozy without it being overcrowded. If you’re on the hunt for similar cushions and pillows, I’ve linked a few of my favorite finds at the bottom of this post.
Cottage-inspired porch with faux blooms in woven basket, layered rugs, and cozy throw blanket.

To bring in that cottage charm, I’ve found that mixing natural textures works best. Woven baskets filled with faux blooms are my secret weapon for keeping things fresh, especially since my real flowers don’t always make it through the season. (If you’re like me and want blooms that last, I’ve rounded up some of my go-to faux florals below). I also love adding jute rugs and layering them with other outdoor rugs. It makes the space feel warm and defined, and the scalloped edge rug I used this year gives the porch that extra touch of sweetness I love.

And of course, I can’t have a cottage-inspired porch without greenery. Even though I don’t have much of a green thumb, I like to mix in a few real potted plants with faux trailing vines. Placing them at different heights...on stools, in baskets, or hanging along the railing...really helps give that lush, slightly overgrown look that feels so signature to cottagecore style. (Tip: if you’re looking for easy planters or cute baskets, I’ve linked a few affordable options below).

Lighting is another must for me when it comes to a cozy porch. I like adding candles in oversized lanterns when it’s not too hot out (otherwise they melt in no time!), and I string up lights along the railing too. At night, they make the space feel so welcoming and set the mood for those slow summer evenings I never want to end. You can find similar lanterns and outdoor string lights at the bottom of this post.

The last little layer for me is always the details that feel personal and charming. I’m a big fan of bringing in vintage finds, repurposed pieces, or even a thrifted basket that can double as a planter. I also love using stools as little plant stands or side tables. And of course, lots of soft, cushy pillows and cushions. On dry evenings, they even double as a comfy spot to rest your feet or for the kids to sit and read outside.

So if you’re wanting to create your own cozy cottage porch, my best advice is this: layer textures, add greenery (real or faux!), don’t skip the lighting, and make it personal with pieces that tell a story. Late summer is the perfect time to soak it all in before the chill of fall sets in, and I can honestly say there’s nothing better than enjoying those last warm evenings surrounded by a cottage-style porch that feels cozy and inviting.

Cottagecore Summer Dining Room Decor and Tips 10 Sep 7:18 PM (last month)

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I live for those soft, charming cottage vibes—especially in the summer when everything feels a little more magical. Lately, I’ve been swooning over cottagecore summer dining room decor. There’s something about a sweet floral print, a ruffled edge, and a flickering candle that makes me want to linger over lemonade and strawberry shortcake all afternoon.

And the best part? You can create this dreamy summer dining look without spending a ton. If you're a thrifty decorator like me, you know it's all about mixing textures, layering in cozy charm, and using what you already have (hello, old books and doilies!). So let’s talk about how to bring that soft, nostalgic cottagecore summer aesthetic right into your dining room!

1. Let’s Talk Florals, Scallops, and All Things Soft
Florals are everything in a cottagecore dining room—they add a fresh, feminine touch and bring the outside in. I love incorporating them in subtle ways—like a floral table runner, napkins, or even pillows. You don’t have to go overboard! Even one or two floral accents can set the tone.

And can we take a moment to appreciate scalloped edges and ruffled linens? These sweet little details are what give your space that cozy, lived-in cottage charm. Try a ruffle-edge tablecloth or a ruffled runner draped over your table. Soft, flowy fabrics are a must for that romantic summer cottage vibe.

2. Layer, Layer, Layer!
Cottagecore is all about layers—think textures, patterns, and soft neutrals. I always start with a jute rug under the table—it adds warmth and an earthy texture that anchors the room. Then I layer in soft pillows with floral or linen covers on chairs (yes, even dining chairs deserve pillows!) and maybe a lightweight throw for a cozy touch.

Layering also works wonders on the table itself. Stack ironstone bowls on top of scalloped chargers, tuck a pretty napkin underneath, and add a doily for that extra dash of vintage charm. Don’t forget the layered plates—mix and match patterns for a collected, heirloom look.

3. Bring in Greenery with Vinca Vines
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen my obsession with vinca vines in white ceramic planters. These delicate, trailing plants are perfect for a cottagecore dining room—easy to care for and oh-so-pretty. I like placing a few planters on the table and shelves for a touch of soft green. The white ceramics keep things feeling light and fresh while adding to that classic cottage look.

4. Make a Statement with Candles and Brass
Let’s not forget ambiance, my friends! I’m all about that soft, romantic glow. Brass candlesticks with flickering lit candles are my go-to. They instantly make the space feel warm and inviting. Cluster a few in the center of your table or scatter them around for an enchanting evening vibe.

Pro tip: Check your local thrift store or flea market for vintage brass—I've found some beautiful sets for just a few dollars!

5. The Perfect Cottagecore Table Centerpiece Accessory
This might be my favorite part. For a show-stopping centerpiece that’s totally budget-friendly, I love using old books—stacked in varying heights. To add a little magic, use old book pages as a table runner! It’s a whimsical, unexpected detail that adds vintage charm and makes the table feel collected and storied.

How to Make Your Summer Dining Room Feel Cozy with Just a Few Easy Changes

Featuring my favorite block print tablecloth!

Summer dining room decor with a mix of textures and calming green tones

Jump to Get The Look ↓
Let’s talk dining rooms for a sec. Not the stiff, formal kind. I mean the kind you want to hang out in. Where the chairs are soft, the lighting is warm, and it feels just as comfy as your favorite reading nook.

Now, here’s a little backstory: growing up, our dining room was all wood. Wood table, wood chairs, no rug—just linoleum underfoot. It was practical. Easy to clean. Definitely kid-proof. But cozy? Not exactly. Here's an example of what it looked like...if you understand this, then you're my people haha.
old 90s styled dining room

Fast forward to today—I’ve got two kids, three pets, and a serious love for cozy layers. And guess what? My dining room is still clean and totally livable… but now it’s soft, welcoming, and ready for everything from pancakes to game night.

Let me show you how I made it happen—without giving up style (or sanity).

It All Starts with Fabric
If you’re only using your table to eat, you’re missing out. I always say the dining table is prime real estate for decorating, especially in the summer.

I started this refresh with one of my favorite pieces—a block print tablecloth in the prettiest green. It instantly lightened the whole space and gave it that relaxed, cottagey feel I love.
Green block print tablecloth with scalloped buffalo check napkins

I layered in:
A textured scalloped-edge napkin
Simple summer table setting with vintage books and greenery

Vintage-inspired dishes
Layered summer place setting with green and white buffalo check napkin and neutral plate

And yes, even green books stacked with faux eucalyptus in a wicker basket—because I have to have books on every surface :)
Summer centerpiece using books, eucalyptus, and soft textiles

This combo adds softness and depth. A tablecloth may seem simple, but it changes everything.

Cozy Can Still Be Kid- and Pet-Friendly
Let’s just settle this now: slipcovers are not just for fancy houses or formal dining. They're a mom's best friend. I used a slipcovered chairs on one side of our table and the head chairs and a mix of painted white chairs on the other side. Easy to wash, super forgiving, and adds that cozy, layered look.

Add a soft throw blanket over the side of a chair and boom—you've got comfort and charm.

Soften the Hard Surfaces
One of the biggest mistakes people make with dining rooms? Too many hard surfaces. Wood floors, wood table, hard chairs—it can feel cold. That’s why I always bring in a big jute rug to ground the space. It adds warmth, texture, and keeps the chairs from scraping (bonus!).
Layered summer tablescape with block print, checkered napkins, and greenery
And don’t be afraid of rugs under your table—especially something durable like jute. It’s basically built for real life...plus, it hides allll the crumbs and is super easy to clean when needed.

Mix, Match, & Make It Yours
Here’s what I love:

Mismatched plates still feel intentional when you stick to one color palette

Cottage-style dining place setting with ruffled napkins and vintage-inspired dishes

Vintage textures like doilies, old books, and brass candlesticks give warmth and personality
Cozy summer tablescape with mix-and-match plates and patterned textiles

Layered lighting (hello candles!) brings in that soft, glowy vibe that makes people want to linger after dinner
Block print tablecloth styled with scalloped napkins and earthy tableware
Nothing has to match. Nothing has to be new. It just has to feel like you.
Green summer table setting with subtle textures and layered dishware

Clean, Even with Chaos
Okay—let’s talk reality. I’ve got three animals and two kids. And my dining room still looks and feels clean. It’s not magic—it’s just being intentional:

Slipcovers = toss in the wash

Durable rugs = easy vacuum or shake out

Layered decor = hides the random crumbs and life that happens

I promise, you can have cozy and still have clean. You just need the right pieces.
Cozy dining table setup with natural textures and subtle pattern play
Let’s Talk Pattern Play
One of my favorite parts of this summer setup is how all the patterns play nice together. It might seem like a lot—block print, buffalo check, and florals—but when you keep the tones cohesive, it just works.

The block print tablecloth gives that breezy, vintage summer feel.

The green and white buffalo check napkins with ruffle trim add texture and a touch of cottage charm.
Cottage-style dining place setting with ruffled napkins and vintage-inspired dishes

And the floral throw blanket draped over the chair brings in softness and ties the whole palette together.

The key? Stick to a similar color family (in this case, soft greens and neutrals), vary the scale of the patterns, and don’t overthink it. Cozy doesn’t mean matchy-matchy—it means layered, collected, and lived-in.

Summer dining room centerpiece with wicker basket, vintage books, and faux greenery

Your dining room doesn’t have to be formal or off-limits. Let it be soft. Let it be layered. Let it be a space where your family wants to gather and stay. With just a few simple updates—like a tablecloth, a cozy rug, and a little texture—you can completely transform the vibe.

As summer winds down and we head into fall, I love creating a cozy dining room that bridges both seasons. This dining room look brings together rustic charm with fresh greenery, vintage textures, and warm terracotta tones. It’s the perfect inspiration if you’re looking for dining room decor ideas, tablescape styling tips, or seasonal decorating inspiration.

Doilies for a Simple Runner

Instead of using a fabric table runner, I laid out vintage doilies down the center of the table. They add such a cozy touch and bring that handmade, collected look. If you don’t have any on hand, thrift stores are usually full of them, and they add instant texture and sweetness to your table.

Terracotta Pots for Garden Charm

Terracotta pots are an easy way to add warmth and coziness. I scattered different sizes along the table, filling some with fresh greens and leaving a few empty for variety. To make the table feel more layered, I stacked some pots and placed others on top of old books for a little extra height.

Simple Cottagecore Place Settings

Each place setting was made cozy with a mini tobacco basket holding a tiny terracotta pot and a clipping of greenery. It’s simple, sweet, and adds personality without being fussy. The green patterned napkins from CPC added just the right amount of color and tied everything together.

Adding a Little Height

To keep the table from looking flat, I added a few taller pieces like candlesticks and a small olive tree from Trader Joe's in the center. Stacking pots or setting them on books is another simple way to add height.

Layers and Textures

The key to cottage style is cozy layers. Here, I used terracotta, lace doilies, books, brass candlesticks, soft linens, and fresh greenery. Even the woven basket of eucalyptus on the floor adds another cozy texture and makes the room feel full and inviting.

Cozy Touches on the Chairs

I added pillows on the head chairs and a blanket to make the space warm and comfy. This is another chance to add extra texture and layers for a more casual dining feeling. Little touches like this make the room feel lived in and welcoming.

How to Create the Perfect Cottagecore Cozy Bedroom 19 Aug 11:04 PM (2 months ago)

This post contains affiliate links and gifted items.

Cozy cottagecore bedroom featuring layered floral and block print pillows with a matching tablecloth at the foot of the bed.

I feel like it’s been awhile since I’ve shared my bedroom. Honestly, this space tends to go in cycles—sometimes it’s spotless, other times… not so much. And usually, the only thing that motivates me to keep it clean is when I add something new in here. Do you do that too? Switch things up in a room just so it feels fresh again? I think that’s why my decor changes so much—it’s the best little push to keep everything looking put together.

Lately, I’ve been craving more color and pattern, so I added a few simple touches to turn this space into the perfect cottagecore cozy bedroom. And let me tell you, the difference is magical. My floral print pillows from Cotton Print Club instantly warmed up the bed, and the accent block print pillow (also CPC!) ties everything together. To give the room an extra pop of pattern and color, I draped a matching Cotton Print Club tablecloth across the foot of the bed. It’s such an easy styling trick, and it completely changes the look without a big commitment.

If you’re wanting to bring that cozy cottage vibe into your own bedroom, here are a few of my favorite tips:

1. Embrace Pattern with Florals and Block Prints

Patterns are my favorite part of a cottagecore bedroom. I love layering florals, ginghams, and block prints—even mixing them in the same space! It might sound busy, but it’s exactly that mix of textures and prints that makes a room feel cozy and lived-in. The tablecloth trick at the foot of the bed is my personal favorite—it repeats the block print from my pillow and ties everything together.

2. Layer, Layer, Layer (Beyond Blankets!)

Cozy is all about layers. Don’t stop at just blankets and pillows. Layer rugs, drape throws over chairs, pile extra quilts at the foot of the bed, or even hang a light fabric canopy. Each layer adds warmth, texture, and that “collected over time” feeling that makes a bedroom feel like it’s really yours.

3. Add Charm with Collections

Cottage bedrooms always feel a little more magical when you bring in collections. Old books, vintage frames and crocks, woven baskets—whatever makes you smile. Grouping them together adds personality and makes the space uniquely yours.

4. Cozy Lighting with Candles & Lamps

Lighting sets the mood. Instead of bright overheads, try a few table lamps, wall sconces, or even fairy lights. I love adding candles (real or flameless) for that soft flicker of coziness. Bonus: task lighting by the bed feels practical and romantic.

5. Create a Cozy Reading Nook

Every cottagecore bedroom needs a spot to curl up with a good book. Carve out a corner with a cushy chair, a little side table for your tea or coffee, and a scalloped overhead light for charm and glow. It doesn’t have to be big—even a tucked-away spot feels magical when layered with a soft throw, a few extra pillows, and warm lighting. This cozy nook becomes your personal retreat inside an already dreamy cottagecore space. (check out how I made this DIY scallop light here)

6. Add Wallpaper for Storybook Charm

Wallpaper is the ultimate cottagecore backdrop. From delicate florals to soft block prints, even a single accent wall creates that storybook cottage feeling. It’s like wrapping your room in instant character.

7. Cozy Up with a Faux Fireplace

A faux fireplace mantel adds instant warmth and charm. I love styling mine with candles, greenery, and a few seasonal touches. Even if it doesn’t function, it creates a cozy focal point and makes the bedroom feel extra inviting.

8. Add a Bench with Cushions & Cozy Storage

One of my favorite functional and decorative touches is a bench at the foot of the bed. Pile it with soft cushions on top, tuck a couple of floor pillows underneath, and keep a basket beside it filled with extra throw blankets. It’s the perfect mix of cozy and practical—plus, those extra layers are a lifesaver on chilly nights or when the kids hop in bed with you.

Cottagecore is all about layering coziness and creating a space that feels loved and lived in. Whether it’s a block print pillow, a patterned tablecloth at the end of your bed, or a little flicker of candlelight, it’s those small details that turn a bedroom into your own personal retreat.

6 Budget-Friendly Outdoor Dining Tips for a Dreamy Summer Table 11 Aug 10:11 PM (2 months ago)

Outdoor dining table with scalloped rug tablecloth, terracotta pots, and brass candlesticks

There’s just something magical about eating outdoors—especially when your table feels like an extension of your home. Whether you’re hosting a summer dinner party, celebrating a special occasion, or simply enjoying a slow weekend brunch, a thoughtfully styled outdoor dining space can make the moment unforgettable. Today, I’m sharing outdoor dining decorating tips that blend scalloped accents, terracotta charm, cozy seating, and lush greenery...plus exactly how I pulled together my own alfresco dining setup on a budget.
Layered plate setting with scalloped charger, floral plate, and mini terracotta pot

1. Use a Rug as a Tablecloth for Instant Texture
Tip: Swap a traditional tablecloth for an outdoor rug to add unexpected texture, durability, and a chic layered look. This works especially well with striped rugs, scalloped edges, or natural fiber designs.
Layered plate setting with scalloped charger, floral plate, and mini terracotta pot

For this table, I draped a new jute scallop rug over the tabletop. This rug  was under $40 so about the same price I would pay for a traditional tablecloth. It instantly became the star of the setting, adding visual interest while still feeling casual. The scalloped edges brought a soft, feminine touch that worked beautifully with the rest of my outdoor dining décor.

2. Layer Your Place Settings with Statement Chargers
Tip: Create a layered tablescape by mixing scalloped chargers, floral plates, and green dinnerware. Add a bowl on top for depth, then tuck in a small decorative element for a personal touch.

I started with scalloped chargers, then added a floral plate, a green plate, and finally a simple bowl. Each place setting was topped with a mini terracotta pot holding a sprig of boxwood and paired with a scalloped white napkin. It’s such an easy way to make each guest feel special while keeping the table coordinated.

3. Mix Natural Elements for Centerpiece Magic
Tip: Combine terracotta pots, fresh greenery, and brass candlesticks for a perfect summer centerpiece. Choose plants, pots, and candlesticks with varying heights to keep the arrangement visually interesting.

Down the center of the table, I placed terracotta pots filled with boxwood twigs and trailing vines. Between them, I tucked in a few brass candlesticks for a warm glow. This mix of natural and metal elements kept the look grounded while still feeling elegant.

4. Make Seating Cozy with Mismatched Pillows
Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix patterns and textures in your outdoor chair cushions and pillows. This is a great way to add comfort and personality without spending much.

On one chair on each side, I used a cream pillow with tassels, while another had a green block print pillow with ruffles. The mismatched look kept the space feeling collected over time rather than overly styled.

5. Frame Your Space with a Decorative Backdrop
Tip: Use a privacy screen, curtains, or repurposed architectural elements to frame your dining area and create a more intimate atmosphere.

I built a wood planter box privacy screen and added light, airy curtains. For extra character, I hung an old door and window from it. Behind the screen? A towering wall of sunflowers that felt like the perfect living backdrop.

6. Add Small Details That Make a Big Impact
Tip: Tuck in baskets of faux or UV-resistant flowers around your space for year-round color. Small touches like this help your dining area feel styled even when it’s not in use.

By one of the chairs, I placed a basket filled with UV-resistant blooms—a mix of creams and greens. It softened the stripes of the rug and tied the entire color palette together from top to bottom.

Creating a beautiful outdoor dining area doesn’t require a huge budget—just a mix of smart layering, natural elements, and personal touches. Whether you’re hosting a big summer gathering or enjoying coffee on a quiet morning, the right setup makes every meal feel special.

How to Decorate with Block Print: Pillows, Wallpaper, and Tablecloth Styling Tips 6 Aug 10:38 PM (2 months ago)

This post contains affiliate links

If there’s one design trend that’s been quietly making its way into homes lately, it’s block print. And honestly? I’m here for it.

There’s something timeless, handmade, and just the right amount of imperfect about block printing. Whether it’s on fabric or wallpaper, these patterns add a richness and depth to a space. And bonus: they play beautifully with vintage, farmhouse, traditional, and yes... even modern styles.

If you’re curious about using block print in your home (or want some fresh ideas), today I’m sharing my favorite tips for decorating with this classic technique...from walls to tables and everywhere in between.

First off, let me tell you a little story. We went to Europe recently and visited the Netherlands. We went on a road trip one of the days to Amersfoort. I didn't know what this place was, and knew it was like a 15 minute stop on the itinerary. We stopped there to look at some old gates, and I found myself walking into one of the doors attached to the gate.
Amersfoort gates
(the door is right by the flag)

This door happened to lead to a little block print studio. I thought it was a shop, so the lady there was so surprised to see us. I looked around and was amazed. This studio was block print perfection, and the lady was so sweet!

(inside of shop)
I asked her if she had anything to purchase, and she said,"not much. I'm just a studio." But she showed me some totes she had block printed as well as a selection of stamps she designed. So, of course I bought a tote and stamps.

She then spent some time teaching me how to block print. So...needless to say, this 15 minute stop turned out to be longer and one of my favorite places in the Netherlands. I haven't started block printing on my own yet, but I definitely have some in my house!

I have actual hand block printed items now as well as the look-alikes that machines have made :) But they all give the same amazing look and pop of pattern.

1. Block Print on the Couch = Instant Upgrade

One of the easiest ways to dip your toes into block print is with pillow covers. They're low commitment, budget-friendly, and they bring so much texture and charm to a neutral sofa or chair.

Right now, I’m styling my living room with some floral block print pillow covers from Cotton Print Club and I love how they soften the space. The patterns feel relaxed, not too precious — and they layer beautifully with solids, stripes, or even other prints.

Tip: Stick to a cohesive color palette when mixing patterns (like all warm tones or all cool tones). Then vary the scale — try one small floral, one bold medallion, and a textured solid to break things up. Here's more tips on how to mix patterns with block print.

2. Set the Table, Set the Tone

Let’s talk block print tablecloths because this might be the most underrated styling trick out there. I’ve been using a hand-blocked tablecloth from Cotton Print Club on our dining table this summer, and it’s transformed the space.

There’s something about layering pattern under your dinnerware that makes it feel relaxed and polished...but you're finally adulting :)

Tip: Use a block print tablecloth as a base layer, then stack it with natural materials like rattan chargers, linen napkins, and vintage glasses. It’s perfect for hosting or just a Tuesday night dinner.

3. Try Block Print on Your Walls

Yes, wallpaper! Block print wallpaper is having a moment — and it’s surprisingly versatile. You’ll find everything from traditional Indian floral prints to bolder, more modern motifs. Whether you're going all in on a powder room or just want an accent wall in your bedroom, block print adds instant character.

Tip: If full-wall wallpaper feels intimidating, try using a block print pattern as a framed panel or backdrop behind open shelving. Even a few feet can make a big impact.

Bonus: Peel-and-stick options are everywhere now, so you don’t have to commit forever.

4. Add a Touch to the Bedroom

Block print patterns have this calming, handmade quality that makes them perfect for the bedroom. You don’t have to overhaul everything — just add a couple of pillow covers or even drape a block print tablecloth or throw at the foot of the bed for a casually chic look.

Tip: Stick to soft, soothing tones in the bedroom — dusty blues, muted greens, or warm taupes — for a restful vibe.

5. Cozy Up the Living Room with a Block Print Blanket

Block print isn’t just for pillows and tablecloths — it’s also a gorgeous way to add warmth and personality with a throw blanket. Whether draped casually over the back of a couch or folded neatly in a basket, a hand-block printed blanket brings an artisan touch to your living space.

I love using a block print blanket to layer over a my couch. The patterns add just enough visual interest without overwhelming the space — especially when the rest of the room is simple and textured.

Tip: Choose a throw in colors that already exist in your living room (like the hues in your rug or artwork), so it feels connected. Then, layer it with a couple of coordinating block print pillows for a pulled-together look.

Styling Idea: Fold your block print blanket at the end of the coffee table tray for a pop of print, or drape it over an ottoman for a laid-back, designer feel.

6. Think Beyond Textiles

Don’t limit block print to fabric and wallpaper. You’ll find the same technique used on lamp shades, trays, even drawer liners. It’s an easy way to tie rooms together if you want to carry a subtle motif from space to space.

Tip: Pick one or two repeating elements (like a floral motif or indigo blue palette), and let those echo through small accessories throughout your home.

Why Block Print Just Works

Real block printing is an ancient art form that brings human touch into your home. Every variation, every slightly-off repeat — that’s part of the charm. Whether it’s in the form of wallpaper, a handmade pillow cover, or a layered tablescape, it makes your space feel more you.

And the best part? You don’t have to overhaul your entire home. A few thoughtful pieces — like a hand-printed pillow here, a statement wall there — can completely shift the energy of a room.

How to Turn an Old Broken Dresser into a Charming DIY Lemonade Stand 23 Jul 10:11 PM (3 months ago)

This post contains affiliate links

My favorite summer memories are my kids doing lemonade stands. Well, recently it's been a root beer float stand... but still! This is where childhood memories are formed. Instead of using a foldable table, I decided to turn an old broken nightstand I had into a cute little DIY lemonade stand for my kiddos. It's not too heavy, so I can take it out easily... although I think I'll be adding wheels soon :)

Repurposed nightstand used for kids lemonade stand makeover

Here's the before. My friend gave me this and it was already broken and missing the bottoms of the shelves. I'm not even sure if it ever had drawers. The only shelf that actually worked was the top one. But that was okay! It turned out to be the perfect lemonade stand makeover.

Old broken dresser before DIY transformation into lemonade stand

Step 1: Paint It Fresh
First, I painted it with Behr's Swiss Coffee—a great soft white that adds instant charm to any repurposed furniture piece.

Step 2: Add a Curtain for Hidden Storage
I then added a tension rod and a cafe-style curtain using some linen fabric. This hid the extra storage... and the ugly missing shelves :)
Dresser painted with Behr’s Swiss Coffee and linen curtain

Step 3: Add Storage for Cups and Supplies
I did add some wood onto those missing bottom shelves so baskets can be placed in there. My kids use this for their money, extra cups, and napkins, etc.

Wood shelves added to broken dresser for basket storage

Step 4: Frame the Stand with Molding
I then added a 1x4 piece of white molding to the sides using screws and nails. This is about 4' tall and gives the stand that classic lemonade stand silhouette.
White molding added to create lemonade stand frame
Step 5: Hang a DIY Bunting Banner
To add the bunting, I added a screw to the top of each molding piece and tied a ribbon from one end to the other with some cut-out black paper bunting.
1x4 molding installed on dresser sides for structure

Step 6: Use the Top Shelf for Extra Treats
The top shelf is for extra cookies or whatever my kids end up putting there. Sometimes stickers that are for sale or random origami haha.
Completed lemonade stand with bunting and chalkboard sign

Step 7: Chalkboard Sign for Pricing
I also added a screw to one of the sides of the molding to hold a chalkboard sign.

Upcycled dresser turned into lemonade stand with banner
I found my sign at Hobby Lobby a few years ago, but they don't carry it anymore. I saw this cute one on Amazon though that I think would look so cute! It's 11x13, so the perfect size.

Cookie & Drink Ideas for Your Stand
The cookie selection changes all the time, but today's is sugar cookie. Sometimes when it's a big batch, I put them in the wicker tray below on top of doilies.

Lemonade is of course a favorite, but have you tried lemonade with Sprite or 7-Up? It's a hit around here! Also, the root beer floats I mentioned earlier. My kiddos sold those for $3 and made a huge profit!

Create a Cozy Selling Spot for the Kids
I like to use these chairs for them by the stand since they match so perfectly. I then even roll out a large patio umbrella at times to give them shade. It's like moving sometimes haha... so it makes it super easy when it's just outside on the sidewalk or in the backyard with their friends.

This easy dresser-to-lemonade-stand makeover took very little time and made a big impact on our summer. It’s light enough for me to move, and with the addition of wheels (coming soon!), it’ll be even easier to roll out for pop-up stands with the neighbors.

This little stand makes my kids feel proud, gives them a chance to earn some money, and helps create those core childhood memories we all cherish. And best of all? It cost almost nothing to make!

How to Style a Vintage Cottage Coffee Table with Thrifted Finds and Neutral Decor 15 Jul 9:39 PM (3 months ago)

There’s something so cozy and grounding about decorating with neutrals, especially when you can do it on a budget. Today I’m sharing how I pulled together this vintage cottage coffee table look for under $50—using mostly thrifted decor, clearance finds, and one lucky $10 furniture score that’s still making me smile.

Let’s start with the star of the show: the coffee table. It was outside for who knows how long at a vintage shop a few towns over. I had no idea how much it was, but when the lady said $10, I was sold. She said she could sell the legs and apron for more than that, but just never did. So, because of the condition she was offering me a deal. Once I got it home, all I had to do was clean off the spiderwebs and secure a crack and then tighten the legs. I didn’t have to do anything else—no sanding, no painting. Sometimes the best finds come already perfectly imperfect.
Neutral vintage cottage coffee table with doilies, wicker basket, faux hydrangeas, antique clock face, and candlestick styled for under $50.

To keep the vibe light and airy, I ran a few vintage doilies down the center of the table like a runner. I find these randomly at thrift and vintage stores. I love how they instantly soften the whole setting while adding texture and charm.
Layered vintage doilies styled as a table runner on a thrifted coffee table for a neutral cottage-style decor look.

Next came the basket of faux hydrangeas. Believe it or not, these were a Michaels spring clearance find—just 50 cents each! I scooped up a handful and tucked them into a $3 thrifted basket I thrifted this week. The soft ivory petals pop beautifully against the worn wood of the table and tie into the neutral theme.
Cream faux hydrangeas from Michaels clearance arranged in a woven basket as part of a cozy vintage cottage coffee table display.

Now for the fun bits—those little details that really make the table feel like home:
Close-up of aged clock face used as a decorative element in cottage-style coffee table decor.
  • An antique clock face, just leaning against the basket, no frame needed. It’s perfectly aged with just the right amount of rust and wear.
  • Two vintage wicker-wrapped bottles that probably once held liquor. Now they bring warmth and a rustic, old-world touch to the table
  • A well-loved, worn old book stacked nearby for a little height and story. It's about business law in the 1800s...I've read a bit of it, and let's just say how times have changed haha.
  • And finally, a simple candlestick, brass and aged, topped with an off-white taper. It was $1 at the thrift store. Brass candlesticks are seriously so hard to come by around here. Is it the same for you in your town?

The whole table came together for less than $50, and it’s one of my favorite looks to date. The soft whites, natural textures, and timeworn pieces feel like a warm hug in the middle of the living room.

If you’re looking to create vintage cottage coffee table decor on a budget, don’t overlook your thrift stores, flea markets, and seasonal clearance aisles. You’d be amazed at what you can find when you go in with an open mind—and maybe a little Pinterest inspiration in your pocket.

Here are some bonus tips on...

How to Style a Coffee Table (Vintage Cottage Style)

  • Start with a neutral base – Use a light-toned or natural wood coffee table. Look for vintage charm like worn paint, patina, or distressing.
  • Layer with soft textiles – Try vintage doilies or a lace runner for texture. They add softness and a cozy cottage feel without overwhelming the space.
  • Use natural elements – Faux or dried florals like hydrangeas in soft tones bring warmth and balance. Arrange them in a basket or pitcher for rustic charm.
  • Add height and variation – Stack vintage books, include a candlestick, or use bottles or vases of different sizes to create dimension.
  • Include one focal piece – A large item like an antique clock face or statement bowl gives the table a grounded, curated feel.
  • Stick to a color palette – Keep decor in soft whites, creams, tans, and wood tones for a clean, cohesive look that feels calm and collected.
  • Mix materials and finishes – Blend wicker, brass, ceramic, and aged wood to add visual interest while staying true to the vintage cottage style.
  • Keep it uncluttered – Leave breathing room between elements so the table doesn’t feel crowded. Less truly is more in cozy styling.
  • Incorporate meaningful pieces – Use items with a story: thrifted books, flea market bottles, or hand-me-down decor that adds character and authenticity.

How to Make a Small Room Look Bigger (on a Budget!) 14 Jul 8:58 PM (3 months ago)

This post contains affiliate links

Let’s be honest—small rooms can be tricky. No matter how much you tidy or rearrange, sometimes it just feels like the walls are closing in. (Been there!) But here’s the good news—you don’t have to knock down walls or hire a fancy designer to make your small space feel roomy, airy, and oh-so-inviting.

Today, I’m sharing my favorite budget-friendly decorating ideas for small rooms that actually work. These are easy tricks you can start using today to make a small room look bigger—and yes, many of these are renter-friendly too!

Best Budget-Friendly Decorating Ideas on how to Make a Small Room Look Bigger

1. Embrace Light & Airy Paint Colors
The fastest way to open up a space? Paint!
Lighter shades like soft whites, warm beiges, pale grays, or subtle pastels instantly make a room feel bigger and brighter. Dark colors can make a space cozy, but they tend to close in small rooms.

2. Mirrors Are Your Best Friend
Mirrors reflect light and create the illusion of depth—it's basically magic! Hang a large mirror across from a window to double the light in the room, or try a cute gallery of smaller mirrors for charm.

5. Declutter (But Make It Cute)

Glass of Peachberry Cream Spritz, an easy summer drink made with peach soda, strawberry purée, cream, and ice, served in a clear glass.

If you’ve been looking for the perfect easy summer drink recipe to cool down with, I’ve got just the thing! Introducing the Peachberry Cream Spritz — a fun, refreshing, and slightly creamy soda-style drink that’s bursting with fruity flavors.

This drink was actually something I made up one afternoon when I was craving something sweet, fizzy, and a little nostalgic. It reminds me of those old-fashioned soda shop drinks — but this version is so simple to whip up at home, and it’s made with easy-to-find ingredients.

Whether you’re lounging by the pool, hosting a backyard BBQ, or just looking for a fun afternoon treat, this strawberry and peach drink will quickly become your new go-to summer drink recipe.

Why You’ll Love This Strawberry Peach Cream Soda Recipe

  • Quick & Easy – Takes just minutes to make!
  • Only 4 Ingredients – No fancy syrups or complicated steps.
  • Perfect for Summer – Light, fruity, and refreshing.
  • Creamy & Fizzy – A unique combo that’s so satisfying.
  • Kid-Friendly – Sweet and fun for all ages.

Ingredients for Peachberry Cream Spritz:

This fruity summer drink combines the bright flavors of peach and strawberry with creamy, fizzy goodness. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 scoops of ice (nugget ice works great, but any ice will do)
  • ½ can of peach Fresca (or any peach-flavored soda or sparkling water you love)
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry purée (simply blend frozen strawberries with a little water until smooth)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

How to Make This Easy Summer Drink:

Start by filling your glass with ice (the more ice, the better — it keeps everything nice and frosty).

Tips & Variations:

  • Swap the Soda: No peach Fresca? You can easily use another peach-flavored soda or even peach sparkling water for a lighter version.
  • Adjust the Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can add a little honey or agave to your strawberry purée before blending.
  • Try Other Berries: This recipe would also work wonderfully with raspberry or blackberry purée if you want to mix it up!
  • Make It a Float: Add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream to turn this into a fun, creamy float.

Why This Drink Is Perfect for Summer:
There’s something about the mix of peach, strawberry, and cream that makes this drink taste like summer in a glass. The fizz from the soda keeps it light and refreshing, while the cream adds just enough richness to make it feel indulgent without being too heavy. Plus, the color is gorgeous — a soft blush pink with swirls of cream throughout!

DIY Air Dry Clay Pots – Easy Cottagecore Topiary Planters 16 Jun 5:15 PM (4 months ago)

This post contains affiliate links

Close-up of a handmade air dry clay pot showcasing its smooth finish and rustic charm, ideal for cottagecore and DIY home decor projects.

If you’ve been around here long enough, you know I love a good craft—especially one that feels earthy, vintage-inspired, and charmingly imperfect. That’s why air dry clay has become one of my absolute favorite materials to work with lately. I’ve made everything from ornaments and ring dishes to little houses and diffusers, and this time around, I decided to try my hand at some sweet little clay pots. And let me tell you… they turned out so cute!

These DIY clay pots are perfect for a tabletop topiary, faux greenery, or even as a decorative catchall. The best part? No kiln or baking required. Just some air dry clay and a little patience.

Here are the supplies you'll need:

Step 1: Roll It Out
Start by rolling out a good chunk of clay on parchment paper. (Skip the wax paper here—it doesn’t hold up well when wet.) Use popsicle sticks as guides to roll the clay to an even thickness. Make sure to roll it wider and taller than you'll need, since you'll trim it down later.

Step 2: Measure and Cut
Measure the circumference of the bottle and cut a clay rectangle that’s just a bit longer—about 1–2 cm extra is perfect. Then measure and cut the height of your pot. Use a ruler and knife to keep the edges nice and straight.

Using a ruler and knife to cut a clean rectangle from rolled air dry clay to form the sides of a handmade pot

Remove the excess clay.
Neatly cut rectangular piece of air dry clay laid out, ready to be wrapped around a mold for pot shaping.
Step 3: Wrap
Wrap your bottle (the one you’ll use as a mold) with a strip of parchment paper—this will keep the clay from sticking. Make sure to tape the parchment paper to itself only, not directly to the bottle.

Step 4 : Wrap and Seal
Wrap your clay rectangle around the parchment-covered bottle. You’ll likely have a small overlap or gap at the seam, and that’s totally fine.

Use your knife to gently “stitch” the edges together—just small cuts up and down the seam to help them blend. Then dip your finger in water and smooth the seam until it disappears. You can also smooth the top edge with water for a cleaner look.

Step 5: Add a Rolled Edge (Optional)
I wanted a little rolled edge detail at the top, so I used some jute twine and gently pressed it into the clay all the way around, keeping it evenly spaced from the top. Be careful not to press too deeply—just enough to leave a subtle indentation.
Jute string pressed gently into the top edge of the clay pot to create a decorative ring-shaped indent.

Impression of the jute ring left in the air dry clay, forming a textured detail near the pot's rim.
I then used some water and smoothed that out as well.
Jute indent detail softened and refined with water for a clean, polished finish on the clay pot edge.
Step 6: Create the Bottom
Roll out another piece of clay and use a cookie cutter or lid that’s the same size or slightly larger than your pot's opening to cut a circle for the base.

Place your pot on top of the circle and trim any excess.

Then score around the seam where the pot meets the base (just like you did for the side seam) and smooth with water to join the pieces securely.

Step 7: Let It Dry
Allow the clay to dry for 24 to 48 hours. Once it’s fully hardened, gently remove the pot from the bottle by twisting and pulling down.

Step 8: Add the Topiary
Now for the fun part—turning your pot into a mini topiary! Cut a small piece of floral foam to fit inside the pot. I used a clipping of boxwood from my backyard, but faux greenery works beautifully too. Insert it into the foam and top it off with some moss for a cozy, natural look. Finish with a simple jute bow for extra charm.

Ideas for Variations
This clay pot tutorial is just the beginning. You can get so creative with these!
  • Add texture with lace or stamps before the clay dries
  • Paint them in soft pastels, neutrals, or even a distressed whitewash
  • Etch names or words into the clay before drying for personalized gifts
  • Try a scalloped edge or ruffled top for a romantic cottagecore vibe
  • Make a whole set in different sizes for tiered displays

How to Decorate Dining Room Shelves for Spring with Cottagecore Charm 7 May 2:00 AM (5 months ago)

This post contains affiliate links

There’s just something about spring that makes me want to fluff every corner of the house — especially the dining room! It’s like my shelves start whispering, “Add a little ruffle here… maybe a bloom there…” and who am I to say no? One of my favorite spots to switch up with the seasons is this sweet little pie safe. It's the perfect blend of function and charm — and honestly, it's where I let my decorating heart run wild. Today, I’m sharing how I brought it to life for spring using some of my favorite elements: hydrangeas, ironstone, timeworn books, and those little sentimental pieces that tell a story (hello, antique salt and pepper shakers!).

DIY Countertop Pie Safe Tutorial

shop pieces below

1. Start with Your Staples: Ironstone + Neutrals
I always reach for my classic white ironstone pieces first. They’re clean, crisp, and make the perfect backdrop for any season. For spring, I tucked in a few pitchers and stacks of dishes — nothing too fussy. White on white is never boring when it’s layered! Try mixing heights and shapes to keep it interesting. Bonus points if you have any creamy vintage finds with just a hint of age.
Ruffle Tea Towel: Similar

2. Add a Touch of Greenery and Blooms
Faux or fresh — flowers are a must. I went with soft white hydrangeas this time. They add that pop of spring without overwhelming the neutral palette. Stick them in a little pitcher or creamer for that effortless "I just picked these" look (even if they came from a bin in the garage 😄). Tuck them in wherever your shelves feel a little bare.

3. Stack Up the Charm with Vintage Books
Books add instant warmth and character. I used a stack of old, weathered ones on the top of the pie safe and a couple nestled on the shelves. Their soft, muted covers blend in beautifully with the rest of the space, but you can totally go for florals or pastel bindings if you're feeling more colorful this season.

4. Bring in Sentimental Pieces
The salt and pepper shakers at the top of the cabinet? Those belonged to my grandmother. I love how they ground the space with something meaningful. These are the little things that make your home feel yours. Whether it’s a vintage photo, a family trinket, or even a child’s handprint craft, don’t be afraid to include it in your shelf styling. Spring is all about fresh starts — and remembering what you love.

5. Layer with Linens and Texture
That striped ruffle towel at the base might be one of my favorite parts of this whole setup. It softens the look, adds texture, and brings in a cozy cottage vibe. Linens are great fillers, especially on lower shelves or peeking out from under a stack of dishes. Ruffles, stripes, and soft cottons all scream spring to me!
6. Extend the Look to Your Dining Room Shelves
You can take the same styling tips and use them throughout your dining room. Whether it’s an open hutch, wall shelves, or a buffet cabinet, the formula works:
  • Anchor with neutrals like white dishes or wood
  • Add height and softness with flowers
  • Sprinkle in books and personal treasures
  • Don’t forget texture!

Styling for spring doesn’t have to be complicated. Start with what you have, sprinkle in a few seasonal touches, and don’t forget to make it personal. This little pie safe of mine is now one of my favorite spring moments in the house — proof that even the smallest spots can make a big impact.

What are your favorite pieces to style in the spring? Let me know in the comments or tag me in your decorating pics — I’d love to see how you bring your shelves to life!

Happy styling!

How to Decorate a Blank Wall on a Budget 30 Apr 2:00 AM (6 months ago)

10 Easy and Trendy Ways to Decorate a Blank Wall (with 3 bonus tips!)

Ever stare at that blank wall and it feels like it's staring back at you? All the thoughts going through your head of what the heck you can do with it? Don't let it be daunting... see it has a canvas for creativity! Here are 10 easy and trendy ideas to transform that empty space into a stylish focal point.

1. Textured Wall
Add dimension with textured wall panels like wood slats, 3D plaster, or fabric. I like to use board and batten or wall planking to add dimension. These elements introduce depth and interest, making your wall a standout feature.

2. Oversized Abstract Art
Make a bold statement with large-scale abstract art. This can serve as a captivating focal point and inject personality into your room.

3. Patterned Wallpaper
Incorporate patterned wallpaper to add visual interest and character. Whether it’s a bold geometric design or a subtle floral print, wallpaper can dramatically change the feel of a room.

4. Biophilic Elements
Bring the outdoors in by adding plants or nature-inspired art. This not only enhances aesthetics but also promotes a calming atmosphere.

5. Gallery Wall with Mixed Media
Create a gallery wall combining photos, art, and decorative objects. Mixing different mediums adds texture and tells a personal story.

6. Floating Shelves with Curated Displays
Mount floating shelves to display a curated selection of books, plants, and decorative items. This adds personality and allows for easy updates.

7. Leaning Full-Length Mirror
A tall mirror propped casually against the wall can make a room feel bigger and brighter—no hammer or nails required! Add a cozy rug and basket next to it for extra charm.

8. Statement Clock
Oversized wall clocks are making a comeback. Look for one with a bold design or a vintage vibe—something that doubles as décor and function.

9. Hat Wall
Turn your favorite wide-brim hats into a curated display! It’s functional storage with a touch of fashion. Bonus: it’s renter-friendly and super easy to hang with command hooks.

10. Clipboards or Hanging Clip Frames
Hang a row of clipboards or floating clip frames to display art prints, quotes, or kids’ artwork. It’s easy to swap out seasonally or whenever inspiration strikes.

 11. Add a Bookshelf Wall
Whether it’s built-in or freestanding, a bookshelf wall adds function and beauty. Style your books alongside decorative items like framed photos, vases, or plants for a cozy, curated feel. Bonus: you’ll always have your favorite reads within reach!

12. Ladder Bookshelf or Wall Ladder Rack
Add a narrow ladder-style shelf against the wall. It’s great for storing books, candles, plants—or even rolled towels in a bathroom!

13. Painted Arch or Color Block
Use paint to create an arch or geometric shape directly on the wall behind furniture—it frames the space beautifully and adds color without the need for art.

Which of these ideas resonates with you? Share your thoughts or your own wall decor experiences in the comments below!

Pattern Combining: How To Decorate with Block Print Patterns 23 Apr 2:30 AM (6 months ago)

This post contains affiliate links

If you caught on of my last posts, you know I’ve been on a bit of a block print kick lately—especially with all the gorgeous pillow covers popping up on Amazon. Whether it’s floral, paisley, or geometric, block prints bring such a charming, hand-crafted look to any space. But once you fall in love with one pattern, the next step can be a little tricky—how do you mix it with others without it looking too busy or mismatched? That’s where a little pattern play comes in, and today I’m sharing some easy tips to help you confidently combine block prints with other designs for a layered, designer-worthy look.

The tricky part is combining patterns! These block print designs pair beautifully with structured patterns like stripes or checks, creating a balanced and visually appealing mix. For a classic and effortless look, try pairing a floral block print pillow with bold ticking stripes or a simple gingham pattern. If you're going for a more eclectic style, mix in geometric shapes, such as diamonds or Moroccan-inspired prints, to add depth and interest.

Another fun approach is to play with scale—if one pillow has a small, intricate block print, balance it with a larger-scale pattern on another pillow to keep things from feeling too busy. Solid, textured fabrics like linen or boucle also work well to break up patterns and provide a grounding element. And don’t forget color! Stick to a cohesive palette, but feel free to mix contrasting hues for a more playful vibe or keep it monochromatic for a sophisticated touch. The key is to experiment and find a combination that feels right for your space!

Easter Touches for Your Dining Room That Are Subtle, Sweet, and Totally Spring 17 Apr 7:22 PM (6 months ago)

This post contains affiliate links

Easter is almost here! I have spring decor going full force in my house right now. This is actually my third spring tablescape this year! I know—I can't believe it either haha. But I had to share this one with you all since it's more Easter-themed dining room decor than just spring in general. I know a lot of decorators use eggs throughout all of spring, and honestly, I love that look too. But I feel like the expiration date on these little neutral eggs is going to be Easter. :) It'll be an easy transition though! I’ll probably just take the eggs off, scoot everything together, and maybe add some books in their place. We’ll see what kind of mood I’m in when the time comes!

Do you actually set your dining table and use it all styled up like this? Or is it more of a “just for looks” kind of thing—maybe something you pull out just for Easter brunch or special occasions? Or are you someone who keeps a beautiful tablescape year-round? I’d love to know where you fall on the spectrum—drop a comment below and let’s chat about it!

As for me? I love creating a warm, welcoming space, and spring is the perfect time to refresh the dining room. Whether you’re hosting Easter dinner, a springtime brunch, or just want your home to feel a little more pulled together, these easy and affordable Easter dining room decor ideas bring in charm without overwhelming your space.

Layer for Comfort and Style
Layering is one of my favorite decorating tips—especially when it comes to neutral spring decor.

Start from the ground up by layering rugs. I used a scalloped round jute rug over our rectangular jute area rug to soften the lines and add dimension. This combo adds a subtle but cozy base for your dining room table.

Next, add comfort to your head chairs with lightweight throw blankets and simple neutral pillows. Not only does this make the space feel inviting, but it also balances the more refined elements on the table.

Set the Table with Neutral Easter Touches
When decorating your dining table for Easter, think soft, neutral layers with a few standout spring touches.

Start with a floral neutral-toned tablecloth (which I got from Ross) to bring in pattern without overwhelming the space.

Add a lace runner down the center for a delicate, vintage-inspired detail that layers beautifully.
Amber Hobnail Glasses: link

In the center of the table, place white vases filled with faux or fresh hydrangeas, mixed with brass candlesticks for a touch of warmth and height.

For a sweet Easter nod, include a decorative holder filled with white eggs—a simple symbol of spring and new beginnings.
wood egg holder: similar   Eggs and egg holder: Hobby Lobby
To extend the look beyond the tabletop, tuck a basket of hydrangeas on the floor near a corner of the table or the buffet. It adds softness at eye level and draws the whole room together.

Create Charming Easter Place Settings
This year’s Easter tablescape wouldn’t be complete without thoughtful, neutral-toned place settings.

I used white scalloped chargers as the base—they’re timeless and go with every season.

On top of  the dinner plates, I used my vintage ironstone bowls to add some height and interest.

Nestled inside each bowl is a mini grapevine wreath holding tiny neutral-colored Easter eggs—a rustic, charming touch that makes each setting feel extra special.

Scalloped Chargers: Similar link

This look is soft, subtle, and elegant while still giving a big Easter vibe without needing bunnies or pastels.

Whether you’re setting the table for a full-on Easter gathering or just want to enjoy a beautifully styled dining room for yourself, these tips are all about mixing textures, keeping it neutral, and adding layers that make the space feel warm and lived-in.

Now I have to know—do you decorate your dining table like this just for Easter, keep it up year-round, or skip it altogether? I love hearing how others live in their spaces!
