For those curious on how to welcome 2015 with a fashion bang, here's an easy way to step onto Summer 2015 (or for us in the Philippines) or the start of the year,
AVANT POP!
According to wikipedia.org, AVANT POP is an American artistic movement
Stylishlyme.com says “Avant pop combines animated hues with abstract
art. bold prints and daring fabric manipulation. This expressive theme fuses
eye-popping visuals with Surrealist imagery, as experimentation in art and
design present unlikely juxtapositions. Asymmetric silhouettes and Pop
Art-inspired faces are accentuated by jewel embellishments for a 3-dimensional
hyper-realism effect, white textured fabrics, bright colors, outlandish motifs
and mixed media elements create a walking art gallery.”
The key
items for this avant pop trend are asymmetric wrap skirts, boxy jackets and
graphic sweatshirts. Look for artistic applique and pieced construction. For
print and patterns look for pop art, art studio and surrealist designs.
§ Colors: Active
brights. Electric blue, shamrock green, sun yellow, and poppy red.

Superficial simplicity is just the denial of complexity, not its resolution.
In between Fear Of Missing Out and Don't Give A Fuck,
there's a recurring (stylized) normcore thread that mixes normal clothing with something "handmade"-looking ala the Yamamoto man.
Since December set afoot, I've finished listing my "Gifts List" for my family and a few friends.
To my family, I'd give my father a buttondown shirt, mom a handbag and my little sister a Forever 21 or Topshop sweater, but this year, a lil something from H&M since it's not available in Cebu. But i want a change-up - accessories perhaps?
Zalora's collection of watches make for great Christmas gifts especially for dad or mom. An accessory they can wear everyday to remember me by. Probably flats for my sister to continue her taste for cute classy footwear.

Rarely, a NEUTRAL is not named as the "color of the year".
Fashion most especially influences the style makers at Pantone to zero in
on the color we most likely be seeing, wearing and be living with.
MARSALA - ranking 9th as Spring 2015's top colors - takes center stage
as it is named to reign for the next 365 days next year.
MARSALA is a reddish-brown hue that's close to oxblood or bordeaux or even maroon - but has a very strong brown tone to it. The color is described to "evoke a sense
of sophistication and earthiness". Much more apropos for the 70s retro modern-bohemian
looks we've seen on the runways. A taste of the past, a feel of the now
Dubbed as #TheNewNeutral, MARSALA replaces your greys and burgundys anytime soon.

Hems trailed threads, sleeves roomy and fraying, scraps patched on top layers, seams bursting out -
clothes seemed to have been dug up and reworn with these weirdly charming fragments. There was a pluck of rich and poor. The bourgoisie takes center stage.
The term "luxe pauperism" got coined at the Milan shows when these imperfections were spotted - easy unpretentious clothes in luxe fabrications. The impromptu look of the clothes breaks down to elements like tactile textures, organic materials and raw hems.
Sportmax waves the flag of using these elements into full luxe-bourgoise effect with materials such as jute, jersey raffia and canvas worn with leather and matte satin separates.
Sportmax Spring/Summer 2015
As though Alber Elbaz hasn't done this treatment yet, he serves up a few looks with, not just one layer, but three layers of frayed-edge fabrics in different sheer levels to produce hi signature elegant slouch feel.
Lanvin Spring/Summer 2015
Prada savages "beautiful" brocade. An unusual material for the sunny weather but she takes scraps of different patterns and mends them yet having a light, frail effect ala raffia loosing its ends. A twist she only knows how to pull AND sell.

Designers left us hanging with a free-wheeling spirit of the hippie era with
fringes flying off hemlines and anywhere else in the body -
even bolder and braver to be in the mix with easy casuals!
FRINGES have gone from just being a rockabilly to a modern-lady decoration.
A head start on fringe is by way of a shirt like this Paul Smith long version - his "new idea" that's very wearable for a summer sojourn.
Kept everything else clean but with a wink to the hem.
Paul Smith Spring/Summer 2015
Proenza Schouler's change-up on American sportswear was all the rage at New York
especially with their air-sweeping fringes that replaced body-hugging sportswear bands.
EmilioPucci's Peter Dundas was in his element as he (always) sexifies easy pieces with crochet and kitschy embellishments.
Julie de Libran had a successul debut at Sonia Rykiel - romancing utility or casual wear with knits and tweeds with frayed edges, proving her light touch is a good reboot for the brand.
Sonia Rykiel Spring/Summer 2015
Elie Tahari's "shipwrecked, high-tech bohemian" married natural materials with cutting-edge fabrics. Soft leather jackets, gauzy blouses and edging these up with suede or leather fringe skirts were the formula for the modern bohemian.
Marco de Vicenzo was the main man for "luxe fringe" this season.
His silk-fringe checked pieces that swished out at the beginning of the show were complicated to make but looked fine-tuned and streamlined.

Kiesza's new single AND video "No Enemiesz" inspires this birthday post with dance moves barking back to the 90s rave era and a song that just all good vibes and submitting to happiness!
"Don't stop me just give me more
You're what I want for sure
Don't stop I just want you more
Babe you are my only cure
Don't stop until I make you mine
You can take all my time
Don't stop I feel so alive
Baby you blow my mind"

It’s a scene typically played out during fiestas: People rushing to the streets, drawn to the sound of a marching band. Everyone is smiling, eager to see the “star” of the celebration. But instead of showing the face of a movie celebrity, a beauty queen or a politician, the video reveals an unlikely, yet welcome sight—a new, clean toilet facility.
Aptly titled “Fiesta”, the Domex video, produced by Unilever Philippines, is available on Youtube and shows how underprivileged Filipinos welcome the “arrival” of clean toilet facilities in their communities. “The video aims to make people realize the value of a toilet which most of us, unfortunately, take for granted,” said Dennis Chua, Domex Brand Manager.
The “Fiesta” video contributes to the efforts of Domex’s One Million Clean Toilets Movement - in celebration of the 4th World Toilet Day, which happens on Nov. 19 (happens to be my birthday as well!). Each unique view translates into a pledge for the advocacy campaign which collects pledges from households to conscientiously maintain their own hygienic bathrooms. For every pledge received, Domex will donate P5 to UNICEF’s sanitation program, towards improving access to basic sanitation in deprived areas around the world, including the Philippines.
“By watching the ‘Fiesta’ video and asking our friends to watch it, we are not only raising awareness for toilet appreciation and sanitation, more importantly, we are helping less privileged communities gain access to clean toilet facilities,” said Benjie Yap, Unilever Foods and Home Care Vice President.
Clean toilets, germ-free communities
All over the country, people are welcoming the construction of new toilet facilities and the repair of dilapidated ones, since becoming aware of its role in disease prevention, especially among children.
According to the Department of Health, of the estimated 3,420 diarrhea-related deaths among Filipino children under 5 every year, around 2,000 could have been prevented by access to safe water, improved toilet sanitation and personal hygiene.
“This video should serve as a wake-up call for most of us. The little things we take for granted, like having a clean toilet, could mean the world to others and could definitely help save lives,” Chua said.
