Mother 9 Oct 2019 3:36 PM (6 years ago)

A mother will shield her son from violence and harm's way.

No matter what it takes because a mother who knows what pain is and she has endured many pain during pregnancy to bear her son into this world.

No man shall hurt her son with unreasonable and irresponsible violence just because that man does not know how to be mature enough to manage his angry reaction and has no loving understanding. Unrepentant, irresponsible, stubborn anger unmanaged. Yes, not even the human who should be responsible in protecting her and her son in the first place.

Her daddy is watching you.

And...

God sees and knows what you did.

Woke Up At 3AM 29 May 2019 4:59 PM (6 years ago)

I like waking up at 3AM when it is all quiet and there is still strong water pressure in our faucet letting me do chores faster before the little guy wakes up.

Today though I did not intend to wake up early at that time. But I had a dream and for some reason I woke up at exactly 3AM on the clock as I stared at the wall clock when I opened my eyes.

My aunt just passed away a few days ago. So when I opened my eyes, I whispered a prayer and then said in my mind "oh dear auntie please don't scare me." Seriously that crossed my mind. I got up and thought I should not waste my time trying to get back to sleep. Went straight to the kitchen and did some chores. I wasn't scared anymore until and except for that few seconds when I felt a rather colder air on my legs. So I turned on more lights and went back to work. Around 4:40AM I went back to bed to sit and check my phone. I wanted to call hubby and ask him to buy food on his way home. I stalled time and flt sleepy already. But I still have a few more minutes to spend to finish what I started working on with the chores. Time is of the essence because usually by 6AM there will be no more water flowing from our faucet. We do have saved water but I don't like doing chores with saved water. I find it easier and better to do chores using flowing water. Haha!

Anyway, I just finished breakfast and the boys are still asleep. Time check 8:10AM. Got to get back to sleep. Or perhaps if my eyes will allow me still to do some writing on pending posts.

Have a great Thursday everyone! It's an all cloudy morning out there. Let's bring our own sunshine. It's still a summer day to enjoy with no heat from the sun. *wink*

Disney's Live Action Movie Alladin 2019 27 May 2019 6:43 PM (6 years ago)

My boys and I watched Alladin the movie, the Walt Disney pictures live action fantasy-musical 2019 version with Will Smith playing the role of the genie in the lamp. He was fairly good at playing the role of the genie in the movie. Robin Williams was the voice of the genie in the original1992 animated film and so this movie is somehow said to be a tribute to him.

Have you seen it already? Well surprisingly my hubby was more interested in watching it. The little guy was not so much into it. I don't think he has seen or if he did, recall watching the 1992 version of the animated movie. I have not seen again the animated version for such a long time. This new live action movie was okay.

Princess Jasmine is being played by Naomi Scott, a Britisg actress and singer, while Alladin was played by Mena Massoud. The villain in the story Jafar is played by Marwan Kenzari. The actor is more handsome than the one in the animated movie or so many people agree. The 2019 Alladin movie was directed by Guy Ritchie, a British director.

Side story: I remember Brad Kane and Lea Salonga sang the original movie theme song "A Whole New World" in 1993. This year, Darren Espanto and Morisette are rendering their voices to the classic and famous movie theme song of Alladin. I recently saw the video of Brad Kane and Lea Salonga singing together live once again after 23 years (in 2016) in a TV show. Lea's voice is legendary! Always will be a fan of her amazing voice.

I Can't Be addicted to Playing a Game 21 May 2019 7:06 PM (6 years ago)

I Can't Be addicted to Playing a Game is what I have been telling myself as I tried my hand at playing the offline restaurant game that my son had in the iPad.

I know I had played this game a few years before and was done with it. But lately since vacation started finally for us officially after graduation and recognition, I found myself spending time to play it. Not good at some point because I have other important things to do. But since I tried not to go out as much as possible from the house - to save and also get some much needed rest after a school year, I gave in. After a few days, I somehow am about to give it up. I know some friends who play more but I have to stop soon. I have better things to do. But a part of me is also saying yeah give yourself some time to de-stress thru the game.

I can't be addicted to playing a game. No way. Period.

Avengers: Infinity War 9 May 2018 4:38 AM (7 years ago)

Finally watched Avengers: Infinity War with my boys as hubby treated us to a movie treat in Abreeza Ayala Mall Cinema 4 after the final exam this school year of our little guy as we promised.
We would considered watching in on Imax one time but the good slot with good seats still available was way too early at 8:30AM on a weekend when the boys and I felt like sleep was more important at that point.  We then really and intentionally postponed watching this Avengers movie for two weeks since the past week have been busy with school finals and projects. We did not want to distract our little guy and we wanted to give it to him as a treat for working hard at school not just as a regular treat he gets just like that. Yes we still have regular school and technically today is just the official start of our summer vacation from school as this is the first year our school observed a new school calendar year.

So imagine the Avenger Infinity War spoilers we had the past two weeks. We watched every trailer we can find as much as possible. Plus we've come across news and people's post online. I was not as excited anymore as when we would have seen it on the first day with hubby. But that's really okay. I said let's wait as I wanted to watch it together with our little guy just like we always do. I even asked friends who have seen it if it was worth it and how was the movie. But I guess they kept mum as the hashtag said - #Thanosdemandsyoursilence .

I don't hate spoilers. In my mind, why do you have to hate spoilers anyway? How some people respond on those who post spoilers are often unnecessary. Be kind. There is so much hate in the online world already so let's not take part of it. Just accept it. I even wonder why some complain yet they read the spoiler post from start to end? I don't get it. Peace and love my friends!!!

Did you expect a spoiler post? Not even if it has been two weeks, I guess this won't count as one anymore for those among who still have not seen the movie.  But if I may make a comment though, it took me a few hours to get over what StarLord did after watching the movie. And I don't think the characters who vanished actually died. I guess they can also find a way to resurrect the other characters who died.

We waited after the end of the credits to watch the extra clip just like in any Marvel movie. Yeah, let's wait and see when "Thanos will return."  Can't wait for the so-called Avengers 4 movie produced by
Marvel Studios and distributed Walt Disney Studios to be released on May 2019.

We've seen most of the Marvel movies in the past. Good thing this 2 hour 30 minute movie did not make me fall asleep. We came in prepared to have lunch inside the cinema since we watched around lunch time. Thanks to Pizza Hut's Hawaiian pizza, McDonald's Cheeseburger and Big Mac, Lay's Stax and NatuReal's mango calamansi juice for the movie snacks / lunch!

Thanks to GCash for the 10% cashback promo on our movie tickets which we bought with Scan to Pay using the GCash QR Code!  By the way, they have a promo for mother's day from May 9-14, 2018 where you can save P100 by using the code

Remembering our BIL 11 Mar 2018 6:55 PM (7 years ago)

My sister's recent post reminded me of your birthday.

To my kindest, most generous and self-less brother-in-law, have a great birthday party in heaven!

I often wanna ask God why. Perhaps He knows you will be a great angel somewhere. Your kids miss you a lot. Really a lot.

It's hard not to cry so hard every time you remember someone gone who has really been good to our family.

Day 1 of 365 Days of Gratitude 31 Dec 2017 4:30 PM (7 years ago)

Day 1 of 365 Days of Gratitude

January 1, 2018

I am grateful for the day of rest at home after the holidays.
Stayed home with my boys and resisted the urge even to go to the 3 nearby malls.

Rest and sleep these days have become a luxury for some.
Even many if not most take it for granted.
So I truly grateful for the down time spent at home to rest and sleep.
And just be with my boys.

Grateful for finally being able to talk with my mommy and daddy.
Talked to them over the phone and sent our love and greetings for the new year.
My little guy had a short talk with his only caring grandma and grandpa!
My boys and I are always grateful for their love, time, support, care and concern.
When we needed a family most, my family has been the one there for me and my boys...
constant and true!

I am grateful for the gift of my family.
Through thick and thin they have been there for me and my boys.
We are truly grateful Lord for my family!

6 Natural Blood Thinners and Supplements 8 Dec 2017 3:39 PM (7 years ago)

I was going through my mail when I saw this sent by a concerned person amongst my contact list.

Sharing this here hoping it may help someone. But best to consult with your own doctor first.

6 Natural Blood Thinners and Supplements

These natural blood thinners and supplements are beneficial to your overall health and may help with prevention of blood clots.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids – Foods high in omega 3 such as fish, pumpkin seeds, and walnuts. You can also substitute with a capsule form found here.

Vitamin E – Prevents oxidation. Foods high in E include green leafy vegetables, almonds, avocado, broccoli, butternut squash and kiwi.

Natural antibiotics – Such as garlic, olive oil, and onions. This study shows that garlic may be useful in preventing of thrombosis.

Gingko – Reduces fibrin content which is a protein that is important in forming blood clots.

Bilberry, Ginger, and Turmeric – These food reduce the ability of platelets to become clumped, which can lead to blood clot formation.

Vitamin C – Powerful antioxidant to maintain proper vascular health.

(Source: not specified)

I have read many times about the health benefits from eating ginger, turmeric, garlic, avocado, etc. Regular exercise is also important too to keep as part of your daily routine. Also the importance of enough and proper sleep. At least 7 hours of good sleep for adults like me. While my little guy needs about 8-9 hours of good sleep each day.

With so many distractions we all have today, it takes some discipline and love for one self to take these health reminders into serious consideration.

Remember to take good care of your young self as your older self will truly be thankful for.

Cool Straps 28 Jun 2017 9:30 PM (8 years ago)

A relaxing Thursday while we are still on school vacation. We still got a month to go before classes of our little guy officially starts this school year. Yes their school has adapted the new school calendar year starting this year.

Anyway, we went out this afternoon with my little guy while waiting for Papa to come home from work. We passed by the music store at the mall and checked on some stuff. I suddenly recalled my friend's son mentioned about looking for guitar straps. Okay he actually specified he was looking for cool types of guitar straps. Yes teens these days know what they really want and they go for it all the way sometimes.

Well I do remember coming across those cool guitar straps at guitarcenter.com two weeks ago. Those straps ensure your guitar stays securely in place while playing and helps to alleviate stress on your arm and shoulder muscles caused by the added weight of holding your instrument.

I was also scouting for an affordable guitar with good specs for my little guy. My mom was also asking about guitars to choose from since they are planning to get one for the chapel's use in their community for use during their prayer meetings. Hope we will find what we want soon.

Two Summer School Breaks in One Long Vacation This Year 20 Jun 2017 6:20 PM (8 years ago)

We are now on the middle of the third week of June 2017. Yet we are still officially on school vacation while most students in regular schools have already started the 2017-2018 school year last week or the first week of June. It's really one long school vacation for us this year. The first I've experienced in my entire life and for my little guy as well. If we all three have passports and budget of course, we would have flown to visit my sister in Europe. But I am still saving up for that trip and perhaps when my little guy is a little older.

My little guy had about two summer vacation break worth this year as their school has moved the beginning of classes later to adopt to the new school calendar already implemented in school like the University of South Eastern Philippines and Philippine Science High School in Davao.

This change in the school year that gave us almost five months of school vacation this 2017 was to give way to the building construction of the senior high school building in their main school campus.

I was thinking way back then to transfer to another school that will still implement the regular school year and one that has no Chinese mother tongue. But then upon my little guy's request, he wanted to experience the long summer vacation while I was thinking of the adjustment we had to go through next year during the already hot summer months and we are still on our last quarter of our new school year. Basically most students will be on vacation already by then and we're not yet. Imagine summer, going to school every day during the week on a hot summer. But we will get there when we get there. I have a mommy friend whose son already had it this year. We were already on vacation while they still had school until last month.

Well I was thinking we will finish grade school in the same school God willing.

Music Class 12 Apr 2017 3:06 AM (8 years ago)

Wishing for a quiet and long weekend with my boys but then again, hubby will be back to work this whole weekend. Still grateful he has two days off for the holy days up ahead. So I am trying to make sure I will be free from some work myself in the next two days.

I have done most of the work that I need to do yet there are still pending stuff to do this weekend when I have some time to go online.  Now I just remembered that my neighbor was asking me if I can help her find some stuff online just like those cellos available at Musicians Friend which she needs to her daughter's summer music class.

It also crossed my mind again that I was planning to look for a summer class in music for my little guy particularly for him to learn the guitar or drums. I am searching for a private teacher preferably who offers affordable per session class with a flexible schedule too since there would be most likely spur of the moment plans with my boys that may require him to skip classes when we feel like going somewhere - planned or unplanned, just within the city or maybe not. But I want him to learn a musical instrument this summer since he is old enough already to learn and master something especially in music.

Harvest with Margarita Fores on CNN Philippines 28 Feb 2017 4:51 PM (8 years ago)

I have seen a few episodes of Harvest with Margarita Fores. The show is being shown in CNN Philippines. I watch it whenever I catch it showing on TV. I would like to see or meet Ms. Margarita Fores in Davao City when she will do a feature of the city if ever.

Margarita Fores was named Asia's Best Female Chef for 2016 by internationally recognized Asia's Best 50 Restaurants. She is a a known chef and restaurateur. Among Fores restaurants are Grace Park, Cibo, Lusso, Café Bola, and hotel restaurant Alta in Ascott BGC.

The show I just saw now featured the tuna industry of General Santos City. I spotted blogger Avel Manansala shown dining and eating tuna dishes with Margarita Fores along with other bloggers I assume.

Towards the end of her show, she cooks a dish inspired from the place that she features. Hubby just silenced the TV without asking me so as he makes an instant phone call to his office while he is eating breakfast. I missed part of the talk of what she was doing with her dish, Nilagpang na Tuna. Sigh!
Photo from CNN Philippines

Harvest airs on CNN Philippines every Saturday at 7PM. They have replays of the show as well like this Wednesday morning around 8AM-9AM the one I saw earlier. The show premiered last February 18, 2017.

Headphone 8 Feb 2017 6:14 AM (8 years ago)

A few months back, I have been wanting to get myself a new headphone not just for music and entertainment purposes but for potential work purposes. But time flies and here I am looking at someone at the coffee shop we frequent with my boys wondering what these young ladies in front of me are listening to while they seem to be reading very big and thick academic books. If they aren't listening to audio files from school or recorded lectures of their teacher or professors in the classroom, I guess they are listening to relaxing music or maybe not.

Looking at anyone wearing earphones remind me of that intention to buy my very own headphone. Yes it looks bulky to use and carry around. But a colleague once told me years before when she was trying to convince me to work with her, she said that headphones are a must at that kind of work.

Now I am looking into this clean and white headphones ath-m50x at Guitar Center.  It is collapsible for space-saving portability and has 90 swiveling earcups for easy, one-ear monitoring. It also has circumaural design contours around the ears for excellent sound isolation. Exceptional clarity throughout an extended frequency range, with deep, accurate bass response. Those I think are two things I am going to be particular about when finding a good headphone to purchase. So if indeed it passes the critical audio professionals, then I guess it will be worth it.

Swirl Cards 15 Jan 2017 12:00 AM (8 years ago)

IMG_20170115_110803

Grateful for having additional two more Swirl Cards to use this year.  Thanks a lot to our generous friends from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Philippines!

The new perk of having 3 cards now for us is that whenever CBTL has their open house, we can now each get a free new drink to try. Before with only one, then we can only have one free drink to share unless the hubby would treat us to another drink.

Anyway, I am still thinking of giving away one to one of my food blog followers.

What I like about having a Swirl Card ever since is that we get to earn 5 peso points for a certain amount of purchase. Usually we get surprised before that we can get a free drink already without actually expecting it by using the accumulated points in the Swirl Card. There were already a few times that we were blessed with such surprises through the years that we have a CBTL Swirl Card.

TurnTable 26 Dec 2016 12:59 AM (8 years ago)

Christmas day is for family get-together. During our family's Christmas get together, my daddy and I had a chat. He has not visited us in our new place since we moved and how I wish he can come visit us. Anyway, we were talking about our new home and our chat led to asking him about the old turntable that they have at home. I was asking if he still has the old music records that my siblings and I used to listen to as young children.

I told daddy that I found a different kind of digital turntable in an online store last week. He was not familiar with this kind. But I do know a son of a family friend who has a DJ son. He probably knows about these. The one I found has these features:  key correction, reverse, up to 50% pitch adjustment, quartz lock accuracy, and S/PDIF digital output. Controls include start/brake speed adjustment, selectable phono/line output, dual start/stop buttons, and a height-adjustable tone arm. It is said to be the turntable that every DJ wants.

Christmas 24 Dec 2016 7:26 PM (8 years ago)

IMG_20161225_100922

It was a bright and sunny Christmas day on December 25, 2016.

First order of the day was to attend a Christmas morning mass at church with my boys.
We saw the very kind family of a friend who were our former neighbors. It is very important for me personally to attend mass in thanksgiving for Jesus birthday and for all the wonderful blessings the LORD JESUS CHRIST and GOD ALMIGHTY has bestowed upon us through the years!

Thank you for all the blessing LORD! :)

We are forever grateful and we continue to pray for my parents, my siblings and our families, friends and even strangers who have become blessings to us in 2016 making this year a brighter year for us!

Hashtag #CHECKTHELABEL 5 Oct 2016 2:14 AM (9 years ago)

Hubby made us a sandwich using a spread from a sandwich spread pack he opened. The little guy has left for school already.

Now hours later, the little guy got hungry while reviewing and made a sandwich. I also got hungry looking at him and asked for a sandwich. But the little guy had already consumed two sandwiches using the same pack of spread hubby used this morning. Then my little guy made me a sandwich and I started eating it. While asking him questions in between bites, I could not help but notice something is not right with the taste of the sandwich. I kept asking review questions until I said out loud that I think the sandwich tasted weird. It has a light bitter taste somewhere in there. The little guy said it must be the side of the bread. I doubt it. It must be the spread. Then hubby butt in that the spread is already expired. WHAT???

Then he took back what he said. Why would he keep something inside the ref that he knows is already expired? He said we bought the pack two weeks ago. I immediately looked at the label for the expiry and it said it expired October 1, 2016. OMG!

Hubby did not check the label this morning when he made the sandwich. So when we ate the sandwich now I assumed it was okay for the little guy to use.  It still tasted okay this morning. Now it tasted different.

So now reminding hubby all over again to #CHECKTHELABEL when he picks items at the grocery. And not to buy items whose expiry is within the month. To be safe and sure, buy items which will expire next year yet or at least two months from purchase. Also to make a regular inventory of the items inside the ref which I have not done lately because we got busy. I usually check the label before using an item in the ref. Hubby missed doing it and just assumed the pack was still okay.

Do you always check the label at the grocery or supermarket of the items you buy?

I have experienced before items that have already expired still being displayed on the shelf of a supermarket. I had to look for and inform the (merchan) "Diser" to remove the items so that they won't be bought and eaten/consumed by the shoppers/consumers.

While there may still be an extension to those expiry dates, what is more important too to consided is how the items are stored even if they have not yet expired. Storage also matters for certain products.

Now praying we will just be okay. The next two days will be exams for the little guy and the last thing we need is getting sick.  Lord protect us always!

Mommies may this remind us to #CHECKTHELABEL always!

100 Days Before Christmas | Christmas Countdown 16 Sep 2016 3:00 AM (9 years ago)

100 Days Before Christmas | Christmas Countdown
100 Days Before Christmas | Christmas Countdown

Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas season!!!

Yes the countdown begins for Christmas 2016!

My favorite season starts way too early here as soon as September steps in. Make time to spend the holidays with your family, loved ones and the special people in your life.

Make each day a day to be kind to everyone especially those who have done you wrong. They need your love the most. That is what I have learned from three specific people in our community.

Give love on Christmas indeed!

Love! Love! Love!

Spotted These Small Guitars 14 Sep 2016 7:05 AM (9 years ago)

20160908_152029

Spotted these small guitars at one of the nearby mall's department store a week ago and I was thinking my little guy would love to have one of these for a Christmas gift. I was looking for a semi acoustic guitar for him but I think this will do for him. He has been asking for a guitar last year but the plan to purchase one for him still has to be realized. I hope this year it will.

I am torn between a guitar or keyboard for him so that he can have a hobby in music to explore and develop. It will be a helpful diversion from the stress of school.

Saturday Night 13 Aug 2016 4:22 AM (9 years ago)

Saturday night is downtime for me and my boys. It has and will be a busy August for most of us. So with this weekend we are making the most of resting after a busy first week of the month and the following weeks will be busy as well with events and other activities related to the festival in the city happening later this month.

At the moment, I am listening to a playlist of acoustic music while switching to Christmas songs in between. Yes I sometimes do listen to Christmas songs when I feel like I need some cheerful music to easily brighten up the mood. I also found a playlist of music with acoustic guitar playing and it helps me chill and relax this Saturday night with my boys after attending church. I am also checking out this guitarcenter site where you can shop for guitars, drums, keyboards, audio equipment and accessories... when my little guy reminded me of his wish for a small guitar that he can have which is part of his wishlist last year and then again this year he told me and his dad.

Now going offline in a bit to have a quiet dinner at home with my boys.

Enjoy your Saturday night and have a great weekend everyone!

No Place To Be 22 Jun 2016 11:30 PM (9 years ago)

No place to be.

"The best kind of day is one where you have no place to be."

For busy people who have different roles to fill in and have so many places to be in a day... sometimes this applies for one's definition of what one's best day would be.
I know some moms who are always on a rush going to different places in a long day. Sometimes I find myself in a day where I have to many things to do. Attending to the little guy during school days, coming home to do never ending house chores, then going back to school to fetch while in between there maybe errands and places to go to, events to go to and attend at times, and other personal stuff that makes life busy each day.

Then one day you wish you could just spend one  particular day without having to be in any particular place but on your own choice, at peace, with no noise of heavy equipments shaking your place as they do their work day and night, no workers pounding and hammering renovations here and there, no loud, noisy, corny, and not-my-type-of music coming from your neighbors' businesses.

You simply wanna be in your own choice of place, at your own pace, in your own peace away from all the noise and stress of city life while enjoying the beauty of nature that has always been there waiting for us to appreciate it each day that passes by in life.

Energen Cereal Drink in Chocolate and Vanilla Flavors 19 Jun 2016 6:00 AM (9 years ago)

Energen breakfast cereal drink in chocolate and vanilla flavors

Energen Cereal Drink in Chocolate and Vanilla Flavors

Grateful for these packs of Energen cereal drink that were given as samples to try during the Energen Healthy Breakfast Movement launch held yesterday at the Almendras Gym now called the Davao City Recreation Center.

"Eating a healthy breakfast daily is a great way to address underweight and underheight problems, especially among kids. Studies show that a nutritious breakfast helps provide children with energy for the entire day. It also helps contribute to the development of mental and physical abilities," according to Greg Anonas the marketing manager of Energen.

It is said that 6 out of 10 Filipino households are suffering from poor nutrition. Given there are so many not so healthy options of food like junk food that are out there in the market as well as the lifestyle of most Filipinos in relation to eating habits these days, it is easy for this to happen.

My little guy and I initially like their chocolate flavor. But when we did get to try the vanilla flavor at home the following day, the vanilla became our new favorite. When you are on the go early in the morning, this can be an option instead of totally skipping breakfast like some people I know who are always in a hurry to go to work or school. I drank one today in vanilla flavor as we were in a hurry to send our son to school so he won't be late. He ate a full breakfast plus a cup of this too. We came home and ate our breakfast with veggies for viand.

Georgia Peach & Sweet Tea 24 Hour Moisture Ultra Shea Body Cream 1 Jun 2016 3:30 AM (9 years ago)

Loving the smell of this Georgia Peach & Sweet Tea 24 hour moisture ultra shea body cream with a delightful spring fragrance.

It is infused with the moisturizing shea butter, enriched with aloe butter and cocoa butter, provided hydration for the skin day and night. It has a non-greasy formula and a nice fragrance that I like.

Georgia peach & sweet tea 24 hour moisture ultra shea body cream
This was given as a gift by a college friend who comes home from California every year. Thank you so much, Jojo for this fragrant gift!

I don't usually use lotions or body creams anymore in the past few years. But with this one given as a gift from a friend, I have been using this because I love the smell.

It has become a fun annual reunion with college friends when she comes home to the city. Aside from our usual dinner food trip with old college friends filled with fun chat catching up on our lives through the years, it is great to see old friends and hearing the love story of a friend.
