Thumbs up by Subhash K Jha, Bolly Spice ...The film is insanely good-looking and incalculably entertaining. Thumbs up by Nitin Sethi, Glamsham.com ...In the end, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari doesn’t reinvent the romcom wheel, but it doesn’t pretend to either. Think of it as a Bollywood cocktail that borrows the festive chaos of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and the narrative hook of, I Want You Back, shaken up with Khaitan’s flair for witty writing and colourful staging. The result is a film that may be familiar, even formulaic, but remains undeniably entertaining.... full review

Love is fickle—that's my takeaway from this boring romance. The only highlights are some song and dance sequences.
Streaming Partner: Netflix
I admire how quickly and easily this film's characters fall in and out of love. Of course, story-wise, we all know that their initial "true love" existed only so that it could fall apart. Which also means to begin with, we don't believe that Sunny Sanskari (Varun Dhawan) is in love with Ananya (Sanya Malhotra) or Tulsi Kumari (Janhvi Kapoor) with Vikram (Rohit Saraf). The problem, then, is that given that knowledge, the very premise of the film falls apart. So, we have given up on any hope from the story at the very outset.
The next onus of engaging us falls on the situations and the dialogue. The situations reek of lazy writing. For instance, none of the characters question the logic of some very questionable actions and reactions. It is almost as if the makers wanted to make a film that had loads of wedding-y songs and dances. The rest is just padding for that to happen.
After a while, they even gave up on naming which wedding function was on. Thankfully, the music is peppy, and some of the songs are memorable too. And they have been picturised and executed well too. But they are just sewn together haphazardly. And why-o-why do we have a sleazy end-credit item number which is utterly disconnected with texture of the film?
Also, there is hardly any support from any of the other departments. If you are wondering whether the dialogue carries any weight, you are wasting energy. Are the actors able to bring life to the lines? Just about. The film is on the edge of being a full-fledged slapstick one.
Varun Dhawan and some of the actors playing smaller roles are loud and insufferable. The women, Sanya Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, bring some semblance of calm and composure. But only occasionally. Rohit Saraf and Akshay Oberoi don't have enough screen presence for you to remember them. And so it goes with the rest of the character artists.
In this mess, then, it was surprising to see a comment on patriarchy and feminism. And just when I was willing to take that as the one thing that made the film worth being made. But I let my hopes rise a bit too soon. In the last scene, a woman who had found her self-worth through the film was asked to quit her job. Just like that. That hurt.
And with that, this supposedly romantic film leaves nothing warm to remember. A few of the songs, sure. But those you can watch stand-alone and continue to listen to online, right? Right.

Homebound touches you because it's intentionally unsettling. A no-frills look at society, with simple-AND-powerful storytelling and grounded, heartfelt performances.
Streaming Partner: Netflix
We are in a world where a family can own smartphones, yet live under a kutcha roof. And the irony is that we, the audience in air-conditioned theatres, know that world is real. Throughout Homebound, this stark contrast—between the viewer and the viewed, and within the film's world itself—is haunting, daunting, touching, upsetting, heartbreaking and a little warm too.
How can the suffocating circumstances of Shoaib (Ishaan Khatter) as a Muslim in India and Chandan (Vishal Jethwa) as a person from a scheduled caste be warm, you ask? Because the filmmakers make you feel for them without making you feel sorry for them or their situation.
This could also be because the characters are all representatives of the groups they belong to, making them, especially Shoaib and Chandan, two-dimensional placeholders. The situations too are dictated by the single identities—a Muslim man and a man belonging to a scheduled caste. Each scene is charged with the looming implication of how other characters are going to respond to their identities.
That makes the film a tad predictable. It doesn't help that the film is quiet but not subtle about laying out the facts as they are. I wouldn’t fault the makers for refusing subtlety, given what we’ve become as a society.
Indeed, the predictability made me very aware of my privilege, the dire situation of these groups, and the sorry state of society that we live in. Why can I tell that some of the characters are likely to react to Shoaib and Chandan?
While I can take refuge under the protection offered by some deeply affecting performances by Vishal Jethwa, Ishaan Khatter and the entire ensemble, the truth is that these societal issues are glaring us in the face day in and day out. Making me, as a part of the audience, constantly aware of them is the film's win—taking nothing away from how lived-in and rooted the entire cast looked and felt. I wish Janhvi Kapoor had a bigger role she could dig her teeth into. Though from the trailers, it looks like some of her scenes with Jethwa and Khatter didn't make the final cut.
Once you get over the "representative" nature of the characters, which results in the broad predictability of the storyline—and even if you don't get over it completely—you care for the boys. You don't want them to constantly have to temper their aspirations, which would be truly humble goals in an ideal society. But real life has it otherwise. You want them to make it.
Other than that, the film is gracefully and elegantly framed and shot with a couple of beautifully heartbreaking aerial shots. Some of the dialogue might be slightly overwritten, but it stops right in time to not become jarring.
Homebound is a reminder of how films don't need to get into histrionics to be engaging and thought-provoking. Just a matter-of-fact narration and execution is enough. More power to the makers—directors, producers, and writers.

His strong focus on portraying farmers’ struggles and questioning blind industrialization gives the film its heart. Overall, Jolly LLB 3 is far from perfect—it is stretched, uneven, and at times illogical. But thanks to Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s chemistry, a powerful climax, and an important subject at its core, the film turns into a watchable courtroom drama.... full review
So-So by Sakshi Salil Chavan, Outlook India ...Jolly LLB 3 wobbles in places and becomes quite forgettable. Kapoor keeps the circus rolling, with a fixed script to a play, clowns and crusaders sparring in equal measure, reminding us that in this universe, justice is never delivered quietly—it arrives with a grin and a glare. And in this case, with two slogans in the closing scene : “Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan” and “If you ate today, thank a farmer”. This film is tailored for courtroom-drama loyalists and nostalgic fans awaiting Kumar and Warsi’s reunion. Its heart is in the right place, yet the delivery stumbles. The buildup strains without reward, the finale slips into sermon, and the audience exits restless, tugged about like mismatched puppet strings.... full review
So-So by Nandini Ramnath, Scroll.in ...While both actors make for credible adversaries, their friendship is even less plausible than the tactics they use to battle Haribhai’s influence. The Jolly Square gimmick soon runs its course, which is probably why Saurabh Shukla’s judge has a bigger role to play. Saurabh Shukla has a whale of a time reining in the Jollys and wooing a police officer (Shilpa Shukla) alongside keeping rapacious businessmen like Haribhai in check.... full review
So-So by Anuj Kumar, The Hindu ...Once again, Saurabh Shukla is the biggest star of the show as he keeps the franchise fresh. Thumbs down by Subhash K Jha, Bolly Spice ...Jolly LLB 3 is not an all-out disengaging dissing zone. Nothing for which you might want to take the makers to court for psychological abuse. But the freshness, cheekiness, and satirical swipes of the first film have been progressively diluted.... full review
Thumbs down by Shubhra Gupta, indian express ...I really enjoyed Jolly LLB part 2. But in this one, the story-telling is at its most basic, and it is far and away the weakest part of the franchise.... full review
A topic that should be part of every living room conversation plays out as a predictable yet meaningful courtroom drama. The strongest film in the series so far, but still weighed down by unnecessary, slapstick flab.
(Streaming Partner: Netflix)
Jolly LLB must be one of those rare series that is getting better with every episode. Not by a lot, though. And considering the first one was barely memorable, that is not saying much now, is it? Yet, this one will stick mainly because of the premise of the plot and the arguments on both sides. But it won't stick a lot better in memory because it is padded up with way too many side-tracks.
Jolly LLB 3 is, certainly helped by the topic—development, farmer suicides, inequality, and how the rich and powerful manipulate to marginalise the already marginalised. It is a burning current issue that is talked about way too flippantly in middle- and upper-class societies. Jolly LLB does well by giving the generic "farmer" a face and a story, even if it is as predictable as any such courtroom drama.
It is not just that you know what the general outcome of the case and the film will be. You even know which defence arguments are going to be picked up by the plaintiff's lawyer—line-for-line. And that would still be okay. It is an important enough conversation that I was willing to sacrifice my need to be surprised or blown away.
The fluff around this solid storyline is problematic, though. Of course, there is the passing derogatory language-tone combination used about gender and skin tone. But there is also the trans person prelude, the lawyers' personal life, and most of all, the judge's personal life—all extraneous, doing little to add context, and adding unnecessary minutes to the runtime.
Unnecessary because the film has so much going for it. There are lovely background-music-free conversations that allow you to soak in the vibe. The one stand-off between Khaitan (Gajraj Rao) and Janki (Seema Biswas) leaves a much more powerful impact compared to all the arguments in the courtroom.
It does help that a couple of the actors do justice to their characters. For instance, you do feel like slapping Ram Kapoor's Advocate Vikram for thinking poor people ought to feel obligated to his client for buying their land. And you feel infuriated on behalf of the villagers led by Seema Biswas. Shilpa Shukla's role might be the most inconsequential one, but she takes it on earnestly. She blushes so well!
The other actors such as Arshad Warsi, Akshay Kumar, and Gajraj Rao might not inspire any strong feelings, but they don't turn you off either. Huma Qureshi and Amrita Rao, though, are mere props. And, of course, there is Saurabh Shukla, who does what he is told to do so well. But, should he really be made to say or do all the inanities his role demands? Shouldn't he be treated better?
Despite all of that, I did walk out of the theatre feeling grateful to all these people for taking on this all-important and controversial social commentary. Maybe one day, real life will match reel life.

It's so bloated that every thump in the music, each fight sequence, nearly every song, every attempt at comic relief seems like a huge, stinky burp.

Thumbs up by Devesh Sharma, Filmfare ...At close to three hours, Baaghi 4 is more indulgent than it needs to be, and patience does wear thin. Yet, it is a marked improvement over its predecessor. Tiger Shroff, in need of a hit, delivers what his fans expect, while Harnaaz Sandhu makes a promising debut. Whether the masses embrace it remains to be seen but there’s no denying this film gives the franchise a much-needed shot in the arm.... full review
Thumbs up by "Rajiv Vijayakar ", koimoi ...Baaghi 4 is a good watch for Tiger Shroff fans and those who are loyal to this franchise. It is decidedly much better than Baaghi 2 and Baaghi 3 and is technically and cinematically just a whit superior to Baaghi.... full review

So-So by Aakash Kumar, Filmi Beat ...On the whole, Baaghi 4 offers a mix of thrills, emotions, and action. It may not be the best in the franchise, but it is definitely a one-time watch for fans of action dramas. Despite its flaws - stretched parts, overdone violence, and weak dialogues - the film surprised me by being better than expected, as I had zero hopes for it.... full review
So-So by Ria Sharma, Free Press Journal ...What works are the performances and the music and what falters is the predictability of the story. Baaghi 4 tries to infuse the franchise with more romance and emotion, but the story often feels predictable and could have benefitted from tighter suspense. While the action is occasionally over-the-top to the point of unintentional comedy, the film remains entertaining in parts. Tiger's all-round performance, Harnaaz's promising debut, and the strong music keep it afloat. It's not a knockout punch, but it's not a letdown either.... full review
So-So by Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV ...Unfortunately, and perhaps expectedly, Baaghi creaks under the weight of the excess that it packs into its 160 minutes of relentless bloodletting. So-So by Gayatri Nirmal, Pinkvilla ...Certain scenes defy logic, but that's the charm of mainstream cinema, where heroes arrive like knights in shining armor to rescue love against all odds. In this film, an attempt has been made to show him as a mentally confused person, but his acting does not touch that depth. Sanjay Dutt seems to be following the trend this time too. Thumbs down Movie Talkies ...In the end, Baaghi 4 is not just a bad sequel—it’s easily the worst entry in the franchise and among the most unbearable films of the year. With no story, no emotions, no memorable performances, and no technical brilliance to fall back on, it becomes a test of patience for anyone daring enough to watch it. If you had low expectations, be prepared for an even harsher reality. This is one franchise that truly needs to be put to rest. Baaghi 4 is an exhausting, illogical, and soulless film that neither entertains nor engages. The only thing shocking about it is how it managed to get made at all.... full review
Thumbs down by Shachi Chaturvedi, News18.com ...Violence? Over the top. Story? Barely there. Acting? Suffocated by poor writing. Baaghi 4 delivers clichés, making the film feel more like an exhausting action reel than a coherent drama. Best advice? Save yourself.... full review
Thumbs down by Sakshi Salil Chavan, Outlook India ...Overall, the constant twists, sudden betrayals, and endless fights pile on confusion and stoke the fire, yet the storytelling struggles under glaring plot holes and unresolved threads. Thumbs down by Anuj Kumar, The Hindu ...Amidst all the manufactured mayhem in this crude universe, Sanjay Dutt is the saving grace, bringing gravitas to the larger-than-life villain Chacko, who challenges Jesus Christ. Using 2020s' slang can't hide the jadedness of the girl-meets-boy plot. Dropping Shah Rukh Khan and Sri Devi references only highlight the story's age-old, simplistic "What if?" Even these icons, four decades ago, knew they had to reimagine the genre.

Curiously, the camera cuts to Jr. NTR’s face in the middle of the action, slowing down the sequence unnecessarily. The face-offs between Kabir and Vikram look like variants of a soft drink commercial, where the star would come up with a punchline about winning over your fear. It’s cinema without fizz!... full review

What a quick dive this one took from being chique and warm to annoying and infuriating! Just like the relationships it uses to give you the "boys will be boys" vibe.
Thumbs up by Amit Bhatia, abplive ...Pritam’s music deserves special mention. Each song is woven into the narrative so organically that it feels like an extension of the characters’ emotions. It's rare to see music becoming a part of the screenplay, and here, it's done with commendable skill.... full review
Thumbs up by Subhash K Jha, Bolly Spice ...Nonetheless it is a work worth a watch for its interweavement of music and drama, albeit in an infirm clasp.... full review
Thumbs up DNA ...The film is imperfect, vulnerable, and quietly beautiful — just like love! Come fall in love again!... full review
Thumbs up by Devesh Sharma, Filmfare ...Is Metro… In Dino better than the 2007 original? Unfortunately, no. The earlier film boasted stronger storylines, better music, and the unmistakable presence of Irrfan Khan. While the new film has its flaws, Anurag Basu still manages to craft a romantic drama that doesn’t flinch from real emotions. In an era of half-hearted filmmaking, Metro… In Dino is an earnest attempt at genuine storytelling, something which most directors of today have become negligent about.... full review
Thumbs up by Aakash Kumar, Filmi Beat ...Metro In Dino may not be a flawless film, but it is certainly a well-made and emotionally rich drama. The storytelling is engaging, the characters are relatable, and the performances are top-notch. Despite a slightly slow second half, the film redeems itself with a moving climax that makes it worth your time. If you enjoy slice-of-life dramas filled with emotions, love stories, and relatable characters, Metro In Dino is a must-watch. You'll leave the theatre feeling happy and fulfilled.... full review
Thumbs up by Lachmi Deb Roy, FirstPost ...Metro..In Dino’ truly deserves every bit of your time. This feel-good love story is indeed a must watch. Even after the movie ends, you may feel just the way I did, ‘I wish it was a little longer.’ The music and the snap shots of the film just lingers in your mind. The direction, the story, the dialogues and screenplay effectively creates an engaging narrative.... full review
Thumbs up by Troy Ribeiro, Free Press Journal ...Performance-wise, the ensemble delivers with conviction. Aditya Roy Kapur shines as the charming yet commitment-phobic Parth, carrying a carefree energy that hides deeper fears. Sara Ali Khan brings endearing vulnerability to Chumki, a woman confused yet optimistic, viewing life through love-tinted glasses. Pankaj Tripathi’s comic timing is razor-sharp, elevating scenes with quiet brilliance, while Fatima Sana Shaikh delivers a nuanced, poignant portrayal of Shruti. Veterans Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta are sincere, but they offer little in terms of emotional layering.... full review
Thumbs up by Nitin Jain, Glamsham.com ...For a film titled after a track (In Dino – ‘Life in a… Metro’) that once defined heartbreak for a generation, the soundtrack this time feels underwhelming. Pritam’s compositions are pleasant but rarely stirring. While the live-band concept is novel and well-intentioned, it lacks the haunting melancholy or lyrical punch of the 2007 album. It’s a missed opportunity in an otherwise emotionally rich film. Songs like ‘Dil Ka Kya’ and ‘Zamaana Lage’ strike an emotional chord, though nostalgia for iconic KK-led originals remains strong.... full review
Thumbs up by Rishabh Suri, Hindustan Times ...And now, the hero of the film- the music. It’s a pity it hasn’t managed to top the charts before the film’s release, because it truly sucks you in and makes you stay seated. Pritam deserves applause for his compositions, while lyricists Sandeep Srivastava, Mayur Puri, Anurag Sharma, Qaisar Ul Jafri, Neelesh Mishra and Momin Khan Momin weave some lovely songs.... full review
Thumbs up by Jaya Dwivedie, India TV ...If you crave fast-paced plots and high drama, Metro… In Dino might feel too slow. But if you appreciate films that touch your heart and linger in your mind long after the credits roll, this film is made for you. It captures fleeting emotions — heartbreak, forgiveness, reconnection — in their most honest form.... full review
Thumbs up by Rajiv Vijayakar, koimoi ...In Dino, we get rare films where music is treated as a part of a movie. At least for that, if not for its overall content, I will strongly recommend Metro, for all, not just denizens of the metros!... full review
Thumbs up by Abhishek Srivastava, Money Control ...Anurag Basu sets the tone beautifully right from the start, with the Holi sequence that introduces all the characters in one joyous swirl of colour. There’s something very comforting about how he stages scenes — nothing is overly dramatic, nothing is played up for effect. The songs slip in quietly and do what film songs are meant to do — move the story along and deepen the feeling. Pritam’s music here does the heavy lifting without ever making a show of it.... full review
Thumbs up Movie Talkies ...Overall, an layered, urban relationship drama that entertains while gently nudging you toward introspection. A win for its intended crowd. Pretty decent otherwise.... full review
Thumbs up by TITAS CHOWDHURY, News18.com ...It’s not every day that we get to see a Bollywood love story written with so much heart, maturity, intensity, intimacy and subtlety. Metro In Dino is a masterclass on modern-day love. It’s for the lonely, for the ones who won in love and then lost some. It’s as much Anurag’s film as Pritam’s. Zamaana Lage, Dil Ka Kya and Mann Ye Mera stand out particularly. Rush to the cinemas now!... full review
Thumbs up by Anuj Kumar, The Hindu ...In hyperlink films, establishing the character quickly is crucial, making the choice of actors all the more important. Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara make the lust/ lost confusion of today’s generation relatable.... full review
Thumbs up by Tanmayi Savadi, Times Now ...Metro…In Dino comes with its flaws and familiar structure. None of that affects the core of Basu’s storytelling. In the end, it’s warm and fuzzy, just like the tightest and longest hug from a loved one.... full review
Thumbs up by Renuka Vyavahare, Times of India ...There has been a scarcity of love stories in Bollywood and Metro In Dino, elevated by some fine performances, fills that gap perfectly. It is a breezy, intimate watch tailor-made for a rainy day.... full review
So-So by Amogh Ravindra, Deccan Herald ...Visually, it’s shot well. Warm, moody, consistent. Pritam’s soundtrack isn’t instant chartbuster material, but it grows. The songs linger quietly, like the film itself. Soft, slow, and meant to sit with you. Metro…In Dino isn’t trying to surprise you.... full review
So-So by Baradwaj Rangan, galatta.com ...Experimental filmmaking is necessary to break the monotony, but not at the cost of old-fashioned values like emotional connect. Otherwise, it’s just the filmmakers having fun, not the audience.... full review
So-So by Shubhra Gupta, indian express ...But there’s enough zest in the rest of it to keep us humming, and the film, even in its looseness and overly-stretchiness, thrumming. And what a relief, in these days of ham-fisted badly-made patriotic sagas and loud family melodramas, to find adult characters doing adult things, talking up desire and lust and love, even if you can see hints of conservativeness– characters getting into bed, but not going all the way– perhaps as a nod to these times which is bent upon taming all individual passion.... full review
So-So by Lekha Menon, Khaleej Times ...Metro…In Dino may not match the original’s emotional depth or impact, but it’s a warm, well-intentioned take on modern relationships enjoyable in some parts, but with a little more narrative finesse, it could have been truly memorable.... full review
So-So by Uday Bhatia, Live Mint ...There are other directors who’ll do a job, do it efficiently. But filmgoing is more fun when Basu’s playing in his sandbox.... full review
So-So by Radhika Sharma, NDTV ...Director Anurag Basu himself makes an appearance in a key sequence in Metro... In Dino. The film has Barfi! like emotions, the whimsical quality of Jagga Jasoos, and the chaos of Ludo. There's also another cameo by a director, who is believed to be the god of modern Hindi romance movies.... full review
So-So by Isha Sharma, NewsBytes ...Basu's intention to entertain and innovate is evident in nearly all frames and Metro...In Dino's opening sequence will take you back to Jagga Jasoos. Basu has dedicated the movie to KK and Irrfan, and the film's striking frames beam with his creativity. Extremely overstretched, Metro...is never unwatchable, but its parts work much better than the whole.... full review
So-So by DEBANJAN DHAR, Outlook India ...One of the major refrains insists on placing trust in a relationship, lending second chances-allowing for reconciliation, despite how tough, humiliating the ask is. Amidst transgression, allure of a better-seeming life with some stranger who might bring greater joy and stability, how do you stick with your partner? It’s a constant tussle between snipping the bond and believing the other to pull through. There are all sorts of straying, long-repressed desires of women gaining express, the stasis of no longer being giddy about the same partner. Basu lets women be impetuous, silly, brittle and sassy.... full review
So-So by Rishil Jogani, Pinkvilla ...Metro... In Dino may not match the brilliance of Life in a... Metro, but it certainly has a beating heart. The sincerity in Anurag Basu's craft is undeniable. While the film falters in structure and pacing, it succeeds in capturing the emotional messiness of modern relationships. Despite its flaws, it stands as a genuine, heartfelt attempt to tell personal and human stories.... full review
So-So by Sukanya Verma, Rediff ...Pritam's songs are tuneful but far from groundbreaking. The writing is sharp but not razor. Confusing Siri for a sex expert is neither wise nor witty.... full review
Thumbs down by Suhani Singh, india today ...Amidst the ensuing half-baked conflict, Basu shows some of his characters live life vicariously albeit fleetingly. But to serve what purpose is the question? In the quest to pack in Pritam’s voluminous output, Metro... In Dino turns into a protracted saga whose conclusion is long foreseeable. It doesn’t help that logic too has taken a trip, much like many of the characters do. Love certainly has evolved since the first Metro, but in Metro... In Dino, it surprisingly seems dated.... full review
Thumbs down by Nandini Ramnath, Scroll.in ...Whether awake or asleep, the women of Metro in Dino are in more peril than the film cares to admit. The light-hearted tone has hints of darkness and the stench of compromise. At least in this regard, Metro in Dino leavens its insistent banality.... full review
