After having such a great time in Melbourne for the Lamington Drive residency, I decided that instead of moving to a possibly dark and cold England place, it would be the right decision to move back here (at least for the summer!).

Just finally finished watching all of Star Trek Next Generation... sad to finish it but at least there are a lot more other Star Treks to watch!
A book I made while I was doing the Lamington Drive residency in Melbourne. I got this stamper thing that you can put whatever letters you want in it to make words and so I used that to stamp all the words in the pages of the book (no photocopy!). Mostly it's about things that have happened while I have been camping.

(here if you want a copy)
I had such a great time in Melbourne that I changed all my plans and decided to move back there. Time will tell if that was a good idea. Might still head over to Berlin for their summer though.
Have been listening to lots of new music... I sort of stopped listening to/looking for music that I liked while I was in NZ, so it is a good feeling to be getting back into it. It's nice to make more decisions about stuff like that.

Hi! So, I am working this month as one of four resident artist/illustrators at Lamington Drive in Melbourne. So far I have made/drawn a bunch of things (it's only been a week!), and I'm getting stuck into creating some new work to launch at our end-of-residency party. It's great having such a big studio to work from (and to be sharing the space with other interesting/excellent artists), can't wait until we really start filling up the space with our art.

Ok, so I'm just at Sydney Airport now, hanging out for a while watching the planes and baggage trucks and things before heading into the city (I really love airports... usually I arrive in the mornings even when my flight is in late afternoon).
I'm here for the MCA zine fair, which is part of the Sydney Writers Festival, which also has some excellent events on (reminder to self, pick up some sort of pamphlet with events info). Also, I am here to go to seven Kraftwerk concerts. Because I can.
My friend Holly Leonardson came to visit in Hobart last weekend and we worked on a whole bunch of drawings for a new zine that I have just finished putting together in time for the zine fair this weekend. So, here it is:

While I have been staying at Alphabet City for the past month or so I've been working on a few ongoing projects (as well as making new friends, exploring the city, eating lots of nice food and having a good summer time, so busy!). Something that I finished while I was here was an edition of 200 booked titled "Sleep Without Shelter". Sort of based around my feelings of visiting volcanic places and parks in New Zealand, being ok with being alone in places, ideas about things that I think about when I am walking or swimming in cold water. Each book is a little different, numbered, hand bound with string, and contains hand colouring in pencil and crayon, and washi tape.
If you would like a copy (only a limited number available, hopefully there will still be a few left for Canberra Zine Emporium later this month!), you can get one HERE.

After the workshop in Wellington went so well, I have organised to run one while I am up in Auckland staying at Alphabet City for the month.
The flyer is below, with the main info and specifics on where and when, but the basic idea is that we'll be discussing illustration, relevant/interesting artists and publications, and trying out techniques and materials that you may not have tried before (such as screen tone, different watercolour papers, pens, brushes etc). Participants will get started on making their own handmade art book/comic armed with some more knowledge of how to get started on one. Morning and afternoon tea provided! Last time the class was great but not quite long enough to fit everything in, so this time it will be running from 11:00am - 5:00pm, with plenty of time for all the discussion and drawing.
