RIP Beautiful Nari 24 May 2024 4:00 AM (last year)

 Sadly beautiful Nari passed away
9 May 24 at 5:30
She was such a kind sweet cat and this side of the house feels so empty now.
Below is a collection of photos from Oregon to Virginia.

10 May 24

Man this is brutal.

Spent all morning getting all Nari's blankets and towels washed, etc.
Wee thing could generate a lot of laundry.
Right now I can't sit on her side of the house without crying.
So on the other side and Nurse Rose kitty, keeps washing my face.
Put some Peonies on Nari's grave next to the young Japanese Cherry Tree you can see in the foreground in the second photo.  The tiny bright pink peony flower in the middle is special, as this is the first time in 8+ years it has bloomed.
Reason I picked there, is because in Oregon we had mature Japanese flowering cherry trees and every spring Nari would pounce and dance around in the petals that drifted to the ground.
Plan on buying some pretty rocks to go around her spot sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Will finish cleaning the other stuff like her litter box and move that out tomorrow.

******Added: Finally able to go out early this morning while it was still cool out.
Put the rest of the soil over Nari's grave and added some mulch and more Peony flowers.
Want to get a cap stone to put over it, to protect that area and some rocks around that.

Started on Nari's pen and ink.
I am very rusty.
Blocked in with pencil , now slowly blocking in with a light amount of ink.
It is a massive challenge, between eyesight issues and my right hand.
But I am going to do this no matter what and no matter how long it takes.

New tradition~
Normally every evening I sat with Nari for hour to hour and a half, in addition of being with her through out the day.
But bed time was always special.

Now, I am spending Nari's hour+, watching Big Bang Theory and work on her painting.
Still very slowly blocking in with pencil and ink.
This along with putting fresh flowers on her grave everyday is helping.

Have been experimenting with getting Wildflowers to grow on various parts of the property. Slowly learning what will survive both the weather and animals.

Painting the Board and Batten sheds 4 Oct 2021 9:10 AM (4 years ago)

For the most part I stopped using this Blog for family as a means to let everyone know what was going on as per their request.  Mainly because most are on FB.

Latest ~  All the sheds are in bad need of a little maintenance.

Everything I try to do now, is a struggle. Heat makes everything much, much worse.

Should of been able to knock out a 32' by 12' board and batten shed in less than a day.
Now can only work on for a short period of time before my body doesn't want to function.

What I have managed to get done, so far, looks a lot better.

This is the hay shed, I still have another Board and Batten shed to do of the same size, Maggie's shed, there there is another I need to repaint in a lamplight yellow.

I will get there, wither it is before winter or early spring, will do my best and keep soldiering on.

An Icelandic and Cedar Trees~ 6 Jan 2021 1:30 AM (4 years ago)

Through Dyfra's ears, riding in the cedar woods on the
old property in Oregon.

Was a magical place and the smell was wonderful.

Am glad I have good memories to look back on.

Japanese Maples 10 Dec 2020 1:55 AM (4 years ago)

Figured since my health issues made me give up my horses, would start collecting trees.

My young Japanese maples showing some color.

Couple of the local honeysuckle vines added to the mix. All will be put in the garage for the winter this weekend.

They will be the foundation of my little Japanese Maple garden in the future.

Archery 10 Dec 2020 1:02 AM (4 years ago)

To be honest, I was going to give up doing the family Blog.  Most of the family is on FB but not all.

Long story short, have a lot of things going on in my life, a lot of them not great but will never give up.

Was going to do Archery One morning no matter what.

Had to adjust for the motor tremors, ignore the serious pain I had when the arrow launched across that left knuckle that has some weird bony growth on it.

The plus of me dropping a cinder block on that left hand years ago, makes it lock and impossible to drop things. LOL...  so I could not let go of the bow when shooting.

The handy dandy walker was good for carrying my equipment around.

Despite the challenges I am not going to give Archery up and it felt so very good being out and somewhat active !!!!!

Yes, all that bruising was just from the arrow resting and launching off my left hand while wearing a glove.
Will not give up my Archery, so I ignore the pain and
keep going.

Mongolian Horse bow ~ 5 Dec 2019 4:34 AM (5 years ago)

Finally was able to restring my Mongolian Horse bow.
Was a bit of a challenge but I refuse to give up my Archery.
I have to use a lighter bow and instead of shooting a
 100 yards, I now shoot 20 yards.
Will keep doing it no matter what.

This is the
all weather outside target my DH built for me,
so I do not have to set it up every day.

Storm Clouds ~ 4 Aug 2019 6:03 AM (6 years ago)

Finally got around to getting these photos off my camera. One of the Storms last month, yes, there was a little bit of rotation, there but thankfully nothing came of it.
Almost looked like a huge blanket being pulled over the sky.

Humidity level was really high, hard to keep the lens from fogging up. Wasn't willing to stay out there for the lens to adjust.

Finally able to Mow~ 24 Jul 2019 6:26 AM (6 years ago)

Finally cooled off enough I could work on mowing some of the pastures and just around the house.
Main sheep/goat aka used to be Icelandic horse pasture,
grass was a good 2'+ tall in areas.
iphone doesn't take the best photos when on the tractor
because it shakes so much.

Really need to go out there with my better camera.

Last two hair sheep and two wether goats in this pasture.
To much grass for them to keep up with.

Baffle the Squirrel ~ 5 Jul 2019 5:55 AM (6 years ago)

Squirrel Baffle 1 -  Teenage boy Squirrel 0.

Surprised he finally managed to hang onto the other feeder. Most of the time, he just falls off the tree limb.

Humidity is so thick, it is hanging onto the
outside of the windows.

Indian Fantail Squeaker ~ 16 Jun 2019 12:04 PM (6 years ago)

Haven't been able to go out and check on my Indian Fantails, DH has been taking care of them for me.

One day he comes in and says, he thinks there is a baby.

First time Theo and Astra only produced one offspring.
Sadly I did not know about the squab soon enough to get it banded, which is needed if I want to show.
Not that, that has happened yet, though fingers crossed.

Not the best photos.

Garden Photos~ 9 Jun 2019 11:42 AM (6 years ago)

Even though Maggie passed on last Feb, I still call the shed to the right, "Maggie's Shed".
The Birch Tree I planted nearly 3 years ago, is doing very well. Can barely see her shed any more.

The small bright green thing in the middle of the photo, is the Ginkgo tree my DH bought and planted for me last Autumn.
Very glad it survived the winter.

Also 3 years ago, I bought a couple of PawPaw Trees, DS planted those for me.
One died and the one above I really had to Baby a lot.
They are very hard to get started.

So last summer, I bought a replacement.
Was not able to baby it like I did the one above but learned from the previous ones and planted it
where it gets afternoon shade.
And its still alive!

Find the teenage Squirrel.
There are 3 of them and they are a lot of fun to watch.
Nari likes to sit there watching them too.

Butterflies ~ 2 Jun 2019 3:36 AM (6 years ago)

Last month DH took me to see the Butterflies.
Was not going to let anything stop me from going.
Had to use the wee Wheelchair and Ice Vest of course
but I really enjoyed my time out.

Nari and her Teeth ~ 30 Apr 2019 6:36 AM (6 years ago)

Poor Nari had to have 5 teeth out yesterday.

All but one looked totally normal on top but the Xray
 showed another story.
Spendy  $$$$$    but she should start to feel
 much better soon.
Was told Maine coons and Coon crosses, tend to have
teeth issues like this.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
The Tractor has been sitting so long,
Dandelions are
growing in the grill.

Nari and the Catnip ~ 8 Apr 2019 3:33 AM (6 years ago)

Photos were just taken with the phone yesterday.
She wouldn't touch it until I put it in the planter with the Japanese Maple.

You can see Nari is very carefully licking the stem of the Catnip, in the  photo below.
LOL

Found it curious, she was not interested in the leaves.

Think she is happy.
