　日本を代表する世界的総合飲料メーカー2社のCMからジャニーズが消えることになった。

　アサヒグループホールディングスは8日「ジャニーズ事務所のタレントを起用した広告や新たな販促は展開しない」と発表。現時点の契約は満了後は更新しないことを決めた。CMの差し替えや公式サイトからの動画削除なども順次行っていく
という。同社広報は「明確な被害者救済と抜本的な組織運営の是正が認められない以上、取引継続は当社の人権尊重方針に反する」とジャニーズ事務所が開いた7日の会見の中身にノーを突き付けた格好だ。

He was a founding member of the U.K.-based band Spooky Tooth and an in-demand session musician who played on all of George Harrison’s solo albums.

Gary Wright, the musician best known for his hit singles “Dream Weaver” and “Love Is Alive,” died Monday. He was 80. Wright’s son Dorian confirmed the news to Variety.

His son Justin told NBC News the cause was Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

He was a founding member of the U.K.-based band Spooky Tooth and was an in-demand session player from the late ’60s on, playing on all of George Harrison’s solo albums — including his epochal 1970 debut, “All Things Must Pass” — and on Ringo Starr’s early singles (and, much later, with Starr’s All-Starr Band) as well as Nilsson, Tim Rose, B.B. King and many others. Yet he will be best remembered for the mid-1970s hits mentioned above, which were part of a vaguely mystical, synthesizer-driven style of hit single of the era — Steve Miller’s “Fly Like an Eagle” is another example — and which saw him appearing on many music shows, wearing satin gear and rocking a keytar.

中国語が話せなくても、「糖尿病」「医院」「心電図」と紙に書けば中国人に通じます。日本語と中国語は共通の単語が多く、中国旅行の際に、いざという時は筆談で何とかなってしまう場合もあります。
　　しかし、一番簡単そうな医学用語「風邪」はそのまま書いても通じません。中国語でカゼは「感冒」で、「風邪」は専門的な漢方用語になり、漢方に詳しい人以外には恐らく通じません。

　漢方で「風邪＝ふうじゃ」とは、六淫と呼ばれる病気の原因のうちの一つで、体内を縦横無尽に走り回る性質を持っている邪気のことをいいます。特に体の上部（あたまなど）を襲いやすく、頭痛やめまいなど上半身の症状と密接な関係があります。また、寒や熱、湿など別の厄介な邪気とともに侵入するため、組み合わせて色々な症状を引き起こしやすくなります。「風邪」がらみの発病が多いことから、「百病の長」ともよばれています。

　「風邪」は自然界に一年中存在しますが、春に一番活発になると考えられています。春は気温が上昇しボーっと熱っぽくなる季節。「風邪」による頭痛、のぼせ、肩こりなどに注意が必要です。体調管理に気をつけて、「風邪」に侵入されないようにお過ごし下さい。

US officials are quietly shutting down a taxpayer-funded $125million project to hunt for new viruses due to fears it could spark another pandemic. 

DEEP VZN - pronounced deep vision - was launched in October 2021 with the aim of finding and studying novel pathogens in wildlife in Asia, Africa and Latin America. 

While the research was meant to prevent human outbreaks and pandemics, critics, including Biden administration officials, are afraid it could do the opposite and have voiced their fears about the potentially 'catastrophic risks' of virus hunting.

And their concerns are amplified due to the growing suspicion Covid emerged from an American-sponsored lab in Wuhan, China - a theory the FBI subscribes to.

The project was meant to run until 2026, but DEEP VZN was shut down without a formal public announcement in July 2023.

How many Americans still haven't caught COVID-19? CDC publishes final 2022 estimates

Nearly 1 in 4 U.S. adults and older teens had still not caught COVID-19 by the end of last year, according to new estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, while 77.5% had antibodies from at least one prior infection. The figures are based on the final batch of results from the agency's nationwide studies of antibodies in Americans ages 16 and up.

Federal officials often cited estimates from these studies in moving to simplify vaccine recommendations and loosen COVID-19 restrictions, as the Biden administration wound down the public health emergency earlier this year.

Virtually every American ages 16 and older — 96.7% — had antibodies either from getting vaccinated, surviving the virus or some combination of the two by December, the CDC now estimates. The study found 77.5% had at least some of their immunity from a prior infection.

Of all age groups, seniors have the smallest share of Americans with at least one prior infection, at 56.5% of people ages 65 and over. Young adults and teens had the largest proportion of people with a prior infection, at 87.1% of people ages 16 to 29.

Among the 47 states with data in the CDC dashboard, Vermont has the lowest prevalence of past infections, with 64.4% of Vermonters having antibodies from a prior infection. Iowa had the largest share of residents with a prior infection, at 90.6%.

Rates were similar among men and women. Black and White people also have similar prior infection rates, between 75% and 80%.

Among other racial and ethnic groups, Asian Americans had the smallest proportion of people with antibodies from a prior infection, at 66.1%, whileHispanic people had the highest, at 80.6%.

CDC estimates for children have already been published through the end of last year, using other data from commercial testing laboratories. According to those figures, a little more than 9 in 10 Americans under 18 had survived COVID-19 at least once through December 2022.
"Very difficult to measure"

The federal figures on seroprevalence — meaning test results showing evidence of antibodies in the blood — had helped reveal how much the virus has spread undetected or underreported.

Just 54.9% of all adults currently think they have ever had COVID-19, according to Census Bureau survey results published by the CDC through mid-June.

Having antibodies from a prior infection does not mean people are protected against catching COVID again. Immunity wanes over time, with the steepest declines among people without so-called "hybrid" immunity from both an infection and vaccination.

Experts also now know that the risk posed by the virus to each person depends in part on their unique combination of previous vaccinations and infecting variants, the CDC told a panel of its outside vaccine advisers at a meeting late last month. CDC tracking new COVID variant EU.1.1

About 17% of COVID hospitalizations by the end of last year were from reinfections, according to a CDC study spanning data from 18 health departments.

Increasing seroprevalence has also changed how vaccine effectiveness is measured.

"It's become very difficult to measure prior infection in vaccine effectiveness studies. So if you think about the typical person being hospitalized that's picked up in one of these studies, they may have had half a dozen prior infections that they did a nasal swab at home and were never reported," the CDC's Ruth Link-Gelles said at the meeting.

Link-Gelles said vaccine effectiveness studies should now be interpreted "in the context" of most Americans already having previous antibodies for the virus.

This means researchers are now focused on measuring how much additional protection each year's new COVID booster shots will offer everybody, regardless of whether they got all their previous shots.

Evidence Against COVID-19 Vaccines in Medical Journals Continues to Grow

As a university academic, and former pharmacist, whose speciality is misinformation, disinformation and fake news, I have been very active of late in collecting (and writing) papers appearing in medical journals that provide evidence and arguments against the COVID-19 vaccines. Below is a summary of some of the recent papers I find to be most concerning.

Vaccine effectiveness and safety exaggerated

An article appearing in the Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice, including BMJ Editor Peter Doshi amongst its authors, discusses several biases that, if not accounted for, indicate that the effectiveness of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines in observational studies is being heavily exaggerated. The most important appears to be one many of us have worried about from the beginning, the dubious ‘case-counting window bias’, which concerns the seven days, 14 days or even 21 days after the jab where we are meant to overlook jab-related issues, particularly poor effectiveness, as “the vaccine has not had sufficient time to stimulate the immune system”. In an example using some data from Pfizer’s clinical trial, the authors show that thanks to this bias, a vaccine with effectiveness of 0%, which is confirmed in the hypothetical clinical trial, could be seen in observational studies as having effectiveness of 48%.

In a follow-up article in the same journal I revealed ways in which the situation may even be worse. The aforementioned ‘case-counting window bias’ is often accompanied by a ‘definitional bias’, whereby the Covid cases in the vaccinated are not just ignored, but shifted over to the unvaccinated. So building on the above example, a vaccine with 0% effectiveness can actually be perceived as having 65% effectiveness. My article also shows, touching on the intriguing (horrifying?) issue of negative effectiveness, “a vaccine with minus-100% effectiveness, meaning that it makes symptomatic COVID-19 infection twice as likely, can be perceived as being 47% effective”. Furthermore, “Repeated calculations will show that moderate vaccine effectiveness is still perceived even with actual vaccine effectiveness figures of minus-1,000% and lower”. I also explained that this exaggeration could equally apply to studies on vaccine safety, which would be important when comparing the overall health of the vaccinated and unvaccinated, as may be appropriate when looking into the mysterious rise in non-Covid excess deaths post-pandemic.

編集部： CDCが示した、新型コロナウイルスワクチンの乳幼児への有効性について教えてください。 武井先生： CDCの研究チームは、モデルナ製とファイザー製のワクチンに、乳幼児の重症化を防ぐ効果があるかどうかを調べました。 調査はモデルナ製を対象としたものと、ファイザー/ビオンテック製を対象としたものに分けて実施され、モデルナ製の調査では生後6カ月～5歳の9万人以上、ファイザー製の調査では生後6カ月～4歳の約8万1000人がそれぞれ対象となりました。 ワクチン未接種の乳幼児の陽性率は、モデルナ製の調査で5.5％、ファイザー製の調査で5.9％でした。 どちらかのワクチンを1回だけ接種した部分接種のみの乳幼児では、陽性率はわずかな低下にとどまりましたが、推奨回数の接種を終えた乳幼児では陽性率は3％未満に減少しました。 特に、受診の14～59日前にファイザー製ワクチンの3回目接種を終えていた乳幼児では、陽性率はわずか1.1％という数字が出ました。 また、該当する乳幼児の数は少なかったものの、1価ワクチンの接種を推奨回数終えてから、2価ワクチンのブースター接種を受けた乳幼児では、陽性率が極めて低い結果となりました。 さらに、乳幼児も成人と同様、ワクチンによる免疫が時間の経過とともに低下することが示唆され、受診2カ月以上前にワクチンを接種した乳幼児では、予防効果が低下していました。

東証プライム上場で中古車販売大手のネクステージをめぐって、自動車保険の不正契約といった疑惑が持ち上がる中、同社で保険事業を統括していた担当役員が2023年9月初旬に亡くなっていたことがわかった。

同社は、保険担当の役員が「先週病院で亡くなったことは事実。原因については聞いていない」（野村昌史取締役）としている。

ネクステージは中古車などの販売のほか、車検や板金などの整備事業、保険代理店事業も手掛けている。浜脇浩次社長の古巣であるビッグモーターと、事業構造はほぼ同じだ。
