Money Grows On Trees 18 Jul 2011 5:00 PM (14 years ago)

Mabuhay!

If we recycled more and cut less trees, we'll be rich in natural resources.

The Mighty Wallet is the thinnest wallet on the market that can literally adapt to hold whatever you put inside. The proven benefits of having such a thin wallet are a slim profile, less bulk and freedom of movement.

Recyclable Wallet
The Tyvek® microfiber is made from 100% HDPE (High-density polyethylene) which is the second most commonly recycled plastic. 25% of the Tyvek material is recycled and it can also be recycled.

Low Energy Wallet
Due to the low energy requirements needed in producing the Mighty Wallet, it already has a low carbon foot print compared to leather equivalents. The Tyvek® material itself also requires low energy levels for production.

Beyond the material itself we have created an innovative packaging that reduces the products weight by 66% and that means a smaller carbon foot print.

Green Wallet
We use SGS certified environmentally friendly inks and the Tyvek® material itself is non-toxic and ph neutral. Traditional leather wallets use harsh chemicals to tan and treat the leather besides the negative effects that massive herding has on the environment.

Super-thin, expandable, tear-resistant, ecological — the new standard in cool wallets!

*Mighty Wallets are available at Quirks: Stall 320-a Level R3 Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, Makati ; 5th Level Shangrila-Plaza Mall

Shoppingero/shoppingera, it's time to recycle, upcycle our wallets!

My Top 5 Picks 16 Jul 2011 7:25 AM (14 years ago)

Mabuhay!

I just want to share with you some of my pantry essentials. Some are regular "add to grocery cart" items and new finds as well:

Suncoast Lightwater, in my opinion, is a genius product! You get the electrolytes you need without sugar that is added to other rehydration drinks. I pack this for Tom's surfing trips and in Aryanna's lunch bag whenever she has P.E. Of course, fresh buko juice is nature's best rehydration drink!
I don't know how much money I've saved from buying chai tea drinks from coffee shops ever since I've discovered Coffee Bean's Chai Tea Whole Leaf Tea bags! It's the best tasting chai tea I've had compared to other tea bags available in the grocery. I can even make a mean iced chai tea soy latte by mixing HomeSoy soy milk from S&R.
My favorite Royce Nama Chocolate is the Champagne flavor. Aryanna made me try her new favorite Strawberry flavor and I have to agree with her that it's delish! The subtle hint of strawberry in the nama choco adds a fruity delight in every bite!
I love fizzy beverages! Try gingerale instead of soft drinks. My favorite is Schweppes Gingerale but it's always out of stock in the grocery. Mixmate Gingerale is a yummy option!
As you know, Century Tuna is one of my sponsors and I am really happy with this partnership as they have superior products! I just recently tried Century Tuna Calamansi and I'm hooked! Great tuna lime flavor for the Eppersons' burito recipes! You must try this!

Shoppingero/shoppingera, what's in your pantry?

For the "Choo-sey" 14 Jul 2011 8:25 PM (14 years ago)

Mabuhay!

O, ayan! Nagpaparamdam na naman si "Boots Anson Roa"! Haha!

Conceived by Jimmy Choo Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Tamara Mellon, the campaign is inspired by cinematic 1970s Parisian glamour and conveys the darker, subversive side of femininity. Meisel lenses model Raquel Zimmermannin the old-world glamour of New York City’s Waldorf Astoria and captures a scene of stolen, or perhaps forbidden, romance.

The collection of Jimmy Choo shoes and handbags takes its cue from the early ‘70s and the sultry stars of the time; icons Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Rampling, and Veruschka, all admired as much for their beauty and style on-camera, as for their allure and innate sense of style off-camera.

Tea is served, as poised in her hotel suite with ladylike classicism, she wears "Flaxely", a bootie in black suede which criss-crosses its way over the foot and up to the ankle in a perfect slim fit.
Perched broodingly on a satin strewn bed, clutching the new "Catherine" bag in luxurious black softbox leather and leopard print pony, Zimmerman channels French film noir heroines, wearing vixen-like "Flora", a buttery soft suede, black open-toe lattice-style boot.

"This season I looked to the women who have always inspired me for their chic, empowered sense of dress. The creative talent of Meisel transports us to a moment of stolen romance, perfectly capturing my vision for the season and the energy and spirit of the Jimmy Choo woman." Tamara Mellon OBE, Founder and Chief Creative Officer – Jimmy Choo

Jimmy Choo is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Greenbelt 4, Ayala Center, Makati City.

Kobe Bryant in Manila 13 Jul 2011 7:00 PM (14 years ago)

Mabuhay!

I have to thank Nike Philippines for sending me tickets to watch Kobe Bryant in Araneta Coliseum!

My friends and I were suppose to watch KB yesterday but Tom had a back injury so I had to cancel. I gave my tickets to my BFF, Lounell and some of our Azkal friends, Simon and Nate. Yes, friends na kami! Haha!

Thanks Lounell for taking photos and "reporting" on my behalf!

Pasok, Lounell!

First of all, thanks Jen for the tickets!

Basketball Megastar Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers invaded Manila once again as he made his first stop for his Kobe Asian Tour 2011 for Nike.

After a visit to the Nike Manila Flagship Store at the Fort, Kobe and his entourage proceeded to another event with the Gawad Kalinga kids in Taguig, then headed straight to Araneta Coliseum for his basketball clinic with the Smart Gilas Team and the UAAP All-Stars.

Bianca Gonzales and Boom Gonzales were hosts for the Nike Araneta Event.
Kailangan may production number! LOL!
Smoke effects... enter: Kobe Bryant!

Shot from the nosebleed bleechers. Haha!
Kobe being interviewed by Bianca and Boom. According to KB, he loves the Philippines so much he wishes to return soon!
There was a short game by the UAAP All-Stars Team vs the Smart-Gilas Team
It was a good 10-minute game but people came to see Kobe, so everyone were chanting, “KOBE! KOBE! KOBE!”
After 10 minutes, Kobe suited up to play with them for another 10 minutes! Woohoo!
Kobe sores!
It was quite amazing to see Kobe playing with our local players -- he was a very "giving" player, not hogging the limelight ever chance he gets.
A jam-packed Araneta Coliseum! And as you would say, Kylie levelz!
Again, Kobe scores!

Kobe is scheduled to leave today (Thursday) for Seoul and continue his Kobe Asian Tour.

Shoppingero/shoppingera, visit the Nike soon!

Speedy Bandoulière 13 Jul 2011 5:03 PM (14 years ago)

Mabuhay!

I can't remember the last time a bought a bag. I think that's a good thing in a way that I'm not spending but bad because I haven't had a serious bag crush! Haha!

Today, I've fallen in love with this:

Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandoulière

The classic LV "Speedy" just got cooler with its detachable straps!

Sharing is caring. I think Aryanna can borrow this too. This style is so her!

Ay! This so me! Aminin! Bagay sa "Boots Anson Roa"! LOL

Love it! The iconic Monogram canvas has multi-carry options. The Speedy 35 (comes in size 30 too) with shoulder strap are big enough to carry my paraphernalia but compact to easily lug around.

Excuse me, I need to do this now that my meeting's done: *screams* *doing the "Locomotion"*

The Circus is in Town! 1 Jul 2011 7:59 AM (14 years ago)

Mabuhay!

What is Varekai?
It is a Cirque du Soleil touring production that premiered in Montréal in April 2002. Its title means "wherever" in the Romani language, and the show is an "acrobatic tribute to the nomadic soul".

The plot:
It is based loosely on the Greek myth of Icarus, who melts his wings after flying too close to the sun. Rather than drowning in the sea below him, in Varekai Icarus lands inside a lush forest, in which the creatures teach him how to fly again.

Thanks to Fox International Channels and my friend, JM Rodriguez, Aryanna and I were invited to watch the show!

Here's our very, very Varekai experience and some tips too:

Varekai was spectacular! The show was spellbinding, the performers were world-class, and the costumes were out-of-this-world!
I don't know how many times the audience gasped at the acrobatic performances and Araynna and I clapped until our hands hurt! Haha! The two and a half hours were simply magical.
Everyone should watch it!

Go early:
  1. You avoid traffic
  2. You get the best parking space (we parked right smack at the entrance of the venue)
  3. You get to enjoy the view of the tent, take photos, and eat popcorn on one of the benches outside the tent

The show is under the Grand Chapitaeu, Quirino Grandstand Rizal Park, Manila

Photo taken with Instagraam, follow me: jenniepperson

Photo op!

The VIP tickets that were given to Aryanna and I allowed us to enter the Tapis Rouge where
they served hors'dourves and cocktails. You can also have personalize Varekai photos taken and buy souvenirs.

You will find the usual suspects inside the tent:

Food stalls

Souvenir shops

The Varekei Cirque Du Soleil apparel are all imported so they are quite expensive
but very good quality. Go for the graphic print T-shirts.
Souvenir programs  and personalized photos are available

There are also ample toilets available

If you're on a budget, you can buy the cheapest ticket and still enjoy the show without using binoculars.

Aryanna and I were seated in the center, second row, we
could almost touch the performers!

A dream come true:

My daughter Aryanna has a bucket list. It's quite long and I'm amazed at the things she wants to do and goals she'd like to achieve—I'm so proud of her.  To watch one of the Cirque Du Soleil shows was her "Musts". According to her, she saw a youtube video of one of the shows when she was 12 yrs. old and never forgot about it. You can imagine her reaction when I told her we're watching Varekai: *jumps for joy* *cartwheels* *screams*

So, thank you:

Fox-y peeps!
Fox International Channels Territory Director Jude Turcuato and
Marketing Manager Charo Espedido who looks fab in her floor grazing skirt and striped top!

Thanks JM Rodriguez! My BFF Tim Yap was also present during the show!

Can you guess what's the biggest trend is coming our way?

    Menswear + 1920's + Disco = Dolce&Gabbana

Menswear + M&M's + "Valley of the Dolls" = Pucci by Elle Magazine

Menswear + Military + Fierce = Alexander McQueen

If you see me sporting something similar to these outfiteys, you know which designer inspired me:

    Celine

Celine designer Phoebe Philo never disappoints!

Anyway, allow me to thank everyone who sent me "Readers' Recipes" food shots, photos of books/shoes/etc that you guys bought upon my recommendation, Twitter messages, and a whole lot of sweet emails! I'm very grateful to have amazing readers like you!

    From: Carina Samaniego

    My dear Carina,
Thanks for your email and all the beautiful food shots you sent me! Best in photography ka, sis! I love all of them!

"This recipe is inspired by Ms. Jenni Epperson’s Century Corned Tuna Open-Face Dimsum. What I love about her recipe is: 1. Super easy, yummy and budget-friendly. 2. Since Centrury Corned Tuna is flavorful, no need to add a lot of seasoning. You can taste the mixture without cooking a sample, unlike when using raw meat. I used the Chili Corned Tuna variant and added kinchay. I hope you guys will try this :)"
"Yet another easy recipe c/o Ms Jenni Epperson and Century Tuna. Had this for lunch on this rainy Thursday. I used Centry Tuna Hot and Spicy for the extra kick :) I am now a certified suki of Ms Jenni’s recipes!"

My Top 5 “Bang for your Buck” 26 Jun 2011 9:00 PM (14 years ago)

    Mabuhay!

With the rainy season at hand, "bed" weather has never felt this good!

If you’ve shopped on a rainy Friday/Payday, you'd know the drill: you spend hair-pulling hours, sitting in traffic. To entertain yourself, you upload "I-am-going-crazy-with-this-traffic" photos on Twitter. Then, you spend more time looking for parking, uploading more "I-am-going-crazy-looking-for-parking" photos and end up deleting them anyway because well, it's not funny anymore. When you finally get inside the mall, you have to wait in line again to buy movie tickets, order your meal, pay for shopping, and must I go on?

When you consider the gas and time you spent, don't you wish you never left the comforts of your home?

Shopping online gives shoppers the ease and convenience of buying your favorite brands without going through the "rainy Friday" ordeal.
