iGotcha Media Wins 2025 BOCSI Award for JGHF Donor Recognition Project 15 Oct 4:41 PM (9 days ago)

iGotcha Media Wins 2025 BOCSI Award
for JGHF Donor Recognition Project

iGotcha Media is proud to announce that we’ve officially won the Digital Signage category at the 2025 Best of Canada’s Sign Industry (BOCSI) Awards, presented by Sign Media Canada and the Sign Association of Canada.

This prestigious recognition celebrates excellence and innovation in Canada’s signage industry — and we’re thrilled to see our immersive donor recognition installation for the Jewish General Hospital Foundation (JGHF) take home top honours.

A New Standard in Donor Recognition.

The winning project reimagines how healthcare institutions can celebrate their donors. Instead of traditional static plaques, iGotcha Media designed and delivered a dynamic LED donor wall that blends cutting-edge digital signage with the hospital’s architecture.

The result: an elegant, modern installation that tells a story of generosity and impact, while creating a welcoming and inspiring experience for patients, visitors, and staff.

The Project: Immersive LED Donor Wall at JGHF.

Located at the hospital’s main entrance, the installation features an anamorphic LED display that wraps around a corner, naturally drawing the eye and encouraging passersby to pause and engage.

Key design elements include:

  • Immersive LED video that enhances the sense of depth and movement

  • Seamless architectural integration for a clean, elegant aesthetic

  • High-brightness display engineered to minimize glare while maintaining clarity

  • Custom content strategy showcasing donor names, stories, and key hospital initiatives

This innovative approach transforms a high-traffic area into a meaningful storytelling space, giving JGHF a powerful new platform to recognize its community of supporters.

Why This Award Matters.

Winning a BOCSI Award is a meaningful milestone for iGotcha Media. It reflects the creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration that go into every project we deliver.

  • Recognition of Innovation
This project pushed the boundaries of what donor recognition can look like — and the BOCSI Award highlights the power of merging digital signage with architectural design.

  • Celebrating Partnerships
We’re grateful to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation for trusting us with this vision. Their commitment to meaningful donor engagement was key to bringing this project to life.

  • A Win for Experiential Signage
This award reinforces iGotcha Media’s belief that signage is more than just a display — it’s a way to connect people to stories that matter.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, our dedicated team, installation partners, and the BOCSI Award organizers for this incredible honour.

We’re excited to continue redefining the digital signage landscape through innovative, human-centred design — and this recognition inspires us to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

iGotcha Media is 2025 BOSCI Award Finalists 30 Sep 11:29 AM (24 days ago)

We’re BOSCI Award Finalists 2025
for Our Work with the MEM and the JGHF

We are thrilled to announce that our firm has been named a 2025 BOSCI Award Finalist, in recognition of our exceptional collaborative projects with the MEM and the JGHF. The Best of Canada’s Sign Industry (BOSCI) Awards—jointly administered by Sign Media Canada and the Sign Association of Canada—honour the top achievements and innovative contributions in Canada’s signage and visual communications industry.

Finalist Recognitions.

  • MEM Project — Finalist for the 2025 Best of Canada’s Sign Industry Awards in the Digital Signage category
  • JGHF Project — Finalist for the 2025 Best of Canada’s Sign Industry Awards in the Digital Signage category

These distinctions reflect our commitment to pushing boundaries in visual storytelling, environmental graphics, and integrated signage solutions that support identity, navigation, and impact.

About the MEM.

The MEM – Centre des mémoires montréalaise
Located in the heart of Quartier des Spectacles, the MEM celebrates Montreal’s identity and cultural history. To bring this mission to life, we partnered with the MEM to transform its windows into dynamic digital canvases using LG’s Transparent LED Film technology. The installation preserves natural light and architectural integrity while showcasing immersive, custom-designed content that highlights the city’s diverse narratives. This innovative solution seamlessly blends cultural storytelling with cutting-edge digital signage, creating an engaging and inviting experience for all visitors.

About the JGHF.

Jewish General Hopsital Foundation

For the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, we designed two donor wall experiences that celebrate the vital role of philanthropy in advancing healthcare. Each wall highlights a key pillar of the foundation—Digital Health and Research Innovation—through striking visuals and immersive storytelling. The content showcases not only the generosity of donors but also the impact on patients and the dedication of doctors, creating a holistic view of the foundation’s mission. Dynamic anamorphic animations and engaging digital content bring these narratives to life, resulting in an inspiring recognition experience that honors the community supporting the hospital while reinforcing its vision for the future of healthcare.

Being selected as a BOSCI finalist places us among Canada’s most respected signage and visual communications agencies, highlighting our team’s expertise in seamlessly integrating digital and physical signage, delivering thoughtful design that reflects each client’s mission and brand, and upholding the highest standards of fabrication, installation, and durability. Just as importantly, it speaks to the strength of our collaborative partnerships with clients through every phase of a project. As finalists, our work will be evaluated by a panel of industry peers. Whether we win or are shortlisted, this recognition represents meaningful peer acknowledgment and helps raise visibility for the critical projects we’ve completed with MEM and JGHF. The winners will be announced at the BOSCI gala on October 2, 2025. We are deeply grateful to our clients, partners, and team members whose contributions made this recognition possible.

Being a 2025 BOSCI Award Finalist is an honour—and it inspires us to continue pushing the boundaries of design and impact.

The Complete Guide to Choosing the Right Digital Signage Hardware (2025 Edition) 25 Jul 7:46 AM (3 months ago)

Digital signage is no longer just a screen on a wall—it’s a business tool that can captivate, inform, and convert. Whether you’re setting up a single display in a retail store or managing a network of screens across multiple locations, choosing the right digital signage hardware is essential for long-term success.

In this guide, we break down everything you need to consider—from screen specs and media players to environmental durability and installation. If you’re planning a digital signage rollout in 2025, this article is your starting point.

Why Hardware Matters in Digital Signage

Your signage strategy depends on three key components: content, software, and hardware. And while great content and a solid CMS are essential, the hardware is what ensures everything actually performs.

Choosing the wrong display or media player can lead to:

  • Poor image quality
  • Device failure
  • Connectivity issues
  • Frustrated viewers or users

Let’s break down what you need to get it right.

Define Your Digital Signage Goals First

Before comparing hardware specs, start with your business objectives. This helps you choose the right equipment based on performance requirements and environmental demands.

Ask Yourself:

  • Where will the signage be installed?
Indoor displays have different brightness and durability needs than outdoor screens.
  • What kind of content will be displayed?
Video, images, or interactive content all require different levels of processing power.
  • How many screens are involved?
A single retail display vs. a synchronized video wall affects your hardware and software needs.

Choose the Right Digital Signage Display

Your display is the face of your message—choosing the wrong one can make even the best content look dull or distorted.

LCD Displays for Digital Signage

  • Commercial-grade displays are designed for 24/7 operation with higher brightness, better cooling, and longer lifespans than consumer screens.
  • Choose based on:
    • Screen size
    • Resolution (Full HD, 4K, 8K)
    • Brightness (measured in nits)
    • Bezel thickness (important for video walls)
    • Orientation (portrait or landscape)

LED Displays for Large-Scale Installations

  • Ideal for outdoor digital signage, corporate lobbies, and high-impact spaces
  • Consider:
    • Pixel pitch (for image clarity)
    • Weather resistance
    • Modular sizes and shapes
    • Energy efficiency

Interactive Touch Displays & Kiosks

Touchscreen technologies

  • PCAP (Projected Capacitive) – Precise and sleek
  • IR (Infrared) – Cost-effective and durable

Freestanding kiosks may include add-ons like:

  • Printers
  • Cameras
  • Card readers

Using the right commercial display ensures your signage looks professional and performs reliably under all conditions.

Select the Best Media Player for Digital Signage

The media player is the engine behind your content. It plays a critical role in how smooth, dynamic, and responsive your signage is.

Types of Media Players

  • System-on-Chip (SoC):
Built into smart displays (e.g. LG webOS, Samsung Tizen). Great for basic digital signage content and low maintenance environments.
  • External Media Players:
Required for LED video walls, interactive signage, or complex content playback.

Top Recommendations for 2025

  • Basic content: Android TV box
  • Mid-range setups: Lenovo M75q ThinkCentre
  • High-performance installs: HP Z2 G9 TWR (for 4K/8K, multi-screen setups, or interactivity)

Key Features to Look For

  • 4K or 8K video support
  • Remote device management
  • Multi-screen output support
  • Secure operating systems and networking

Choosing the right digital signage player can reduce troubleshooting, future-proof your system, and deliver seamless playback.

Plan for Installation, Enclosures & Mounting

Your screens are only as good as their installation. Proper mounting, cable management, and protective housing ensure stability, safety, and a professional appearance.

Mounting Solutions

  • Wall mounts for LCD screens
  • Custom structures for LED walls
  • Freestanding or mobile kiosks

Protective Enclosures

  • Weatherproof and tamper-proof options for public or outdoor setups
  • Enclosures that support integrated accessories (cameras, keypads, sensors)

Cable Management & Security

  • Keep wiring clean, organized, and labelled
  • Lockable mounts and secure hardware reduce theft risk and improve maintenance

Ensure Reliable Connectivity and Power Supply

Your content needs to be delivered consistently—without signal loss or power interruptions.

Internet Connectivity Options

  • Wired Ethernet for stability and speed
  • Wi-Fi for flexible or temporary installations

Display-to-Player Connections

  • HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-C depending on your media player and display
  • Use commercial-grade cables for durability and quality

Power Planning

  • High-demand setups (e.g. LED video walls) may need dedicated circuits
  • Consider using UPS backup systems for mission-critical installations

Budgeting Tips for Digital Signage Hardware

Investing in the right equipment upfront can help reduce long-term costs and avoid unnecessary replacements.

Where to Save

  • SoC displays for simple content
  • Commercial-lite screens for low-traffic or 16/7 use

Where to Invest

  • LED displays for energy efficiency and longevity
  • External media players for flexibility and scalability
  • Durable mounting and enclosures for added protection

Plan for Hidden Costs

  • Software licenses
  • Maintenance and support
  • Replacement cycles (most commercial displays last 5–7 years)
  • Short-term leasing for events or seasonal signage

Choosing the proper digital signage hardware can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.

New Portrait Weather Components Now Available 7 Jun 10:58 AM (4 months ago)

Optimize vertical screens with
new portrait weather templates

Great news for iGotcha Signage users: the 3-day and 4-day weather template components are now available in portrait orientation—a brand-new feature designed to enhance your vertical screen layouts!

This update is part of the ongoing improvements in the iGotcha Signage CMS Template Editor, which already offers sleek, customizable weather components that display real-time forecasts with a modern look and dynamic functionality. Until now, these weather components have been primarily designed for landscape (horizontal) screens, which has limited their use on vertical displays, such as kiosks, narrow monitors, or mobile devices.

With the new portrait versions, you can seamlessly integrate timely weather information into your vertical layouts without sacrificing readability or style. These components maintain the clean, easy-to-read design and real-time updates that iGotcha users expect, but now they’re optimized to fit portrait screens perfectly.

Why is this important? As digital signage increasingly adapts to diverse screen formats, having weather components that naturally fit portrait orientation means your content looks professional and engaging—no awkward resizing or layout compromises. Whether you’re creating signage for retail, hospitality, transportation, or public spaces, this new feature gives you more flexibility to deliver relevant weather updates that complement your branding and design.

Getting started is simple: just open the Template Editor in iGotcha Signage, select the 3-day or 4-day weather component, and toggle the portrait view option to activate the vertical layout. This new capability empowers you to create dynamic, visually appealing signage that keeps your audience informed, no matter the screen orientation.

In short, iGotcha Signage’s new portrait weather components are a smart, user-friendly addition that helps you make the most of your vertical displays while delivering real-time weather content with style and clarity.
