DynaScan announce the world’s brightest 47” high brightness LCD monitor 17 Jul 2015 1:43 AM (10 years ago)

DynaScan DS472LT6 - 47" 5,000 nits High Brightness LCD Public Display MonitorDynaScan Technology, the leader in manufacturing professional display solutions, today announced the world’s brightest 47” high brightness LCD.  The display features a full HD LCD with an ultra-high brightness backlight producing a sunlight viewable 5,000 nit image.

The DS472LT6 is designed for high ambient light environments and applications where glare is an issue. With a brightness rating of 5,000 nits, the display is an ideal solution for storefront windows, outdoor kiosks, and other locations with direct sunlight.

The screen is powered by an ultra-high brightness LED back light with local dimming. Darker areas of an image receive less backlighting than lighter areas, producing a high contrast image with deep black levels. With a resolution of 1920 x 1080 Full HD, the DS472LT6 provides a super sharp image for easy to read text and incredible detail. The specially designed LED backlighting system also makes the DS472LT6 one of the most power efficient displays on the market – providing a low total cost of ownership.

Each screen is individually colour calibrated to the D65 (6500 K) colour standard to ensure brilliant colour quality and uniformity among multiple displays. The screen may also be calibrated to a user’s specification using DynaScan’s comprehensive calibration solution.

Key Features

The new model expands DynaScan’s portfolio of premium public displays to 14 different models in various sizes, brightness levels and form factors.

The DS472LT6 will be available for purchase beginning in Q3 2015. Please contact us for more information.

What does it take to be the best and brightest? 29 May 2015 3:57 AM (10 years ago)

The market for high bright screens for digital advertising has increased greatly in the last few years. Many manufacturers are now entering this arena with their own high bright offerings. But just putting more light behind the screen is only a part of the solution. Brightness without high contrast and colour calibration produces cold, burnt out images. If your application is a timetable or information display then an entry level screen is probably OK, but if you are in looking to use it for advertising, fashion or any market where image quality is paramount then you should consider a high-end screen to produce the best looking results and the difference in price may not be as great as you think.

Colour Calibration is an important factor for any screen. People instantly know if colours look off, especially when looking at skin tones, landscapes or other familiar objects. LCD panels have becomes much better at colour reproduction and improved off-axis viewing angles. However there is still a tendency for some screens to exhibit a blue cast giving images a rather cool appearance. By calibrating them correctly to D6500k colours appear natural and most importantly uniform across all your displays.

In order to produce a high bright screen you need to push more light out of the screen to counter the light coming in. Anyone who has taken their laptop outside will know the frustration of having the screen washout and become near impossible to view. The problem with pushing more light through the screen is that dark areas become washed out. The LCD panel does not block 100% of the light when set to black. In order to produce deep blacks you need to implement a full LED backlight with local dimming. This allows the screen to turn down areas of the backlight which fall behind the dark areas of the image, in turn producing deeper blacks and higher contrast levels.

Here is a recent comparison photograph we took comparing three different screens in the full midday sun. It illustrates quite well the differences between a non-high bright screen, a basic high bright and a high-end high bright monitor.

Colour Calibration and Local Dimming example
In this example the high-end screen is outputting twice the level of brightness as the budget screen and yet it is still maintaining deep blacks and high contrast levels. On the entry level screen the blacks are washed out and in the brightest areas the detail is being burnt out. It does however still produce clearly visible results in extreme sunlight and therefore provides a great solution for certain applications.

This picture only tells part of the story. It is very difficult to reproduce with a camera what you see with your own eyes. This is why we always recommend a personal demonstration so you can see the screen quality for yourself. If you are looking for high bright screens then give us a call and we would be happy to discuss the available options and help you find the best screen for your application.

See details of our high bright screen here.

Top 5 Advantages of using Digital Signage Displays 19 May 2015 5:51 AM (10 years ago)

DynaScan Outdoor Sunlight Readable Digital Signage TotemPrinted and even handwritten signs have been the mainstay of many retail and restaurant businesses over the years. But times change and in this modern world of social media, complete with spontaneous and continuous content generation, businesses are having to adapt.

By utilising effective digital signage you can engage with your customers more directly and respond to changes in your target market instantly.

Digital signage can be anything from a large sunlight viewable video wall in a shop window, to a small 10″ screen by your cash register. Whether you are showing promotional videos, twitter feeds, pricing information, modern public display screens provide an easy way get your message across to your audience.

If you are currently using printed signage to communicate with your customers here are our top 5 reasons why you should consider moving to a digital system.

1. Eye catching content.

There is no doubt that a moving image attracts the human eye more than a static one when used correctly. By moving to a digital system you can go beyond static images and utilise video, motion and even sound to grab the attention of your audience. You can also embed live TV, social media streams, or web cam content into your displays. But motion on its own is not always the best option. It is easy to be distracted by what you can do rather than focusing on what works best for your message. What digital systems do best is allow you to stack up a catalogue of available and relevant content for your products or services and ensure brand recognition across all outlets large or small.

2. Easily modified.

With printed posters once the season has passed, the product has changed or sold out, that poster is no longer useful. A new print run is ordered, delivered and installed which all costs money. With a digital system your content can be changed in an instant, pricing can be adjusted, availability confirmed, relevant information conveyed. React to your business quickly and easily. You can even edit your content on the spot – for example if you need to change a menu item description or price you can simply type it in rather than rely on the services of a trained sign-writer or a new print run.

3. Schedule changes.

Not only do digital signs enable you to quickly change content when required the whole process can be automated. Change your menus from Breakfast to Lunch to Dinner without user intervention. Update timetables or events as they come and go. You can even schedule different information out of hours to capture a different audience. Automation allows you to plan in advance and removes the human ‘too busy’ or ‘forgot to do’ part. It also ensures all points of information remain coherent.

4. Remote control.

Because everything is connected in this age of the internet, managing your screens is easier than ever. At the most basic level you can plug a USB stick into a screen to update your content. Beyond that you can manage your screens locally or remotely via a wired or wireless network. You can roll out updates to all your branches nationwide from one central control point. You can even let your customers interact with your displays via social media. By keeping your content fresh and dynamic you can keep your customers engaged.

5. ROI via reduce print costs.

It is obvious that a Digital signage solution will initially costs more to install than a simple printed poster. If you only have one sign that never changes then digital signage is probably not the solution you need. However if you do produce printed material or change your message on a regular basis the ROI for digital signage could be substantial. Not only are you getting a quicker and easier method of getting your message to your audience, you are reducing your use of paper, fuel (deliveries) and most importantly time.

Here are some examples of where digital advertising can enhance traditional print:NEC Digital Signage

A coffee shop on a rainy day is running ads for their hot drinks in the window. The sun comes out and suddenly it turns into a glorious hot day. At the touch of a button their window displays change to offer their range of ice-creams, juices and smoothies.

A hair dressing salon is using digital signage to advertise styles, pricing and customer feedback. If an appointment gets cancelled they can change their signs to let potential customers know that they are currently accepting walk-in appointments.

A hotel is using a digital screen in the foyer to show a schedule of events throughout the day. Focus can be given to the next upcoming event, or those events which are under-subscribed, to entice visitors to those events. Any last minute changes to schedules, locations, attendees can be easily communicated via the screens reducing the need for direct staff interaction.

A school uses outdoor and indoor displays to inform parents and students of daily events, clubs and changes to schedule. A dynamic noticeboard solution provides clear messaging to visitors and ensures that all noticeboards relay the same information all the time. The same could be applied to a sports centre or cinema.

If you think Digital advertising could help your business then give us a call or contact us and we will be happy to discuss what we can do to help you get your message delivered to your customers.

ISE 2015 Pixelution Highlights 19 Feb 2015 8:09 AM (10 years ago)

Here are a few highlights from ISE 2015:

DynaScan had a number of new products on show. The 55″ 7,000 nits DS551LT7 becomes the brightest production monitor available. With a level of brightness to rival LED walls this screen is uniquely placed for applications where signage has to be seen no matter what the lighting conditions. They have also refreshed the 55″ 5,000 nits DS55LT6 model with lower power consumption and a slimmer bezel width. Next up is a 55″ ultra narrow bezel video wall monitor with a brightness of 3,000 nits. The DS551LX4 is the brightest video wall monitor solution available with the same bezel width as the best in class from any other manufacturer.

At the opposite end of the scale they have two new offerings. The DS321LT4 becomes the entry point in the range in terms of size and brightness at 32″ and 2,500 nits. This screen is already proving popular due to its compact size.

Lastly from DynaScan the DS381LT4 a 3:1 ratio wide aspect screen aimed at information displays such as timetables and menus. With a brightness of 2,500 nits this screen should prove to be a big hit with restaurants and transport terminals looking for daylight readable digital signage.

KnoXbox also had some new products on show. Their popular modular enclosure system had a minor refresh with a new monitor mounting system making servicing and access even easier. The modular system means installation of totems and other large scale enclosures is much easier. They also had a new interior version on show bringing the same high quality finish and features to a new market.
