If you want to enjoy the fresh and peaceful atmosphere, you should visit the most beautiful highlands of Vietnam. Stretching from Northern highlands to the Central Highlands, the highlands will be the places where the land meets the heaven and give you a memorable trip.

#1. Dong Van Plateau

Dong Van Plateau is located at an average elevation of 1,000- 1,600 m above sea level. Dong Van is one of the beautiful highlands of Vietnam with 80% of limestone area with numerous fossils dating back 400-600 million years, which is very useful in archaeological research.

Located 132 km from Ha Giang town, Dong Van stone plateau is in 4 districts of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac.

Dong Van attracts visitors with the lush green of craggy, scurvy limestone mountains and countless fossil specimens aged 400 to 600 million years. In addition, there is also a diversity of cultural identity due to this is the habitat of 17 ethnic minorities.

With rugged mountain, beautiful flower fields, overwhelming vast terraced fields, Dong Van Limestone Plateau is the unique landscape in Vietnam and contains the imprint of the history of the formation and development of the crust.

Make sure to prepare your camera carefully before coming here because, certainly, you will be impressed by the majestic beauty of Dong Van and will not ignore any shooting angle.

#2. Pleiku Plateau

Pleiku Plateau with an average height of 800 m is favored with beautiful nature with beautiful pine forest, the vast lake and fragrant flowers by nature. Coming to Pleiku, you will not encounter the hustle and bustle of business shops, crowded tourists but can comfortably breathe fresh air, enjoy the natural scenery of wild, peaceful highland.

Visiting Pleiku, you also have the opportunity to explore countless natural landscapes such as Phu Cuong Waterfall, To Nung Lake, Ham Rong Mountain, nine-floor waterfall…. The best time to explore Pleiku is during the dry season and especially in the last months of the year, such as November and December. This is the time when the Central Highlands are covered with yellow color, the yellow color of the ripe rice in the mountains, the bright yellow of wild sunflowers blooming along the road.

Besides, this is also the season of traditional festivals of ethnic minority groups such as New Rice Celebration, New Rice Feast, Buffalo Stabbing Festival, …

Visitors to Pleiku do not forget to enjoy diverse Pleiku cuisine with many attractive dishes such as grilled calamari, grilled chicken, piped rice or fried rice with the pigeon… and especially, a cup of aromatic coffee with the typical flavor of the Central Highlands.

#3. Dak Lak Plateau

Dak Lak Plateau, also known as Buon Ma Thuot Plateau, is located in Dak Lak Province at an altitude of 800 m above sea level.

This is one of the essential tourist areas of Vietnam, in which, the most famous site is Don village with a tradition of hunting and domesticating elephants and Buon Ma Thuot – the capital of Vietnam coffee. Dak Lak is home to Ede people, H’mong people with admirable gong culture and many ancient works worth visiting such as the Bishop’s house, Bao Dai palace … and many unique festivals.

Besides, visitors also enjoy many delicious dishes such as rice cooked in the bamboo tube, grilled chicken, deer meat, fish hot pot, bamboo shoots, bitter eggplant…

#4. Moc Chau Plateau

Moc Chau plateau of Moc Chau district, Son La province, is higher than 1,000 m above sea level. Moc Chau, about 200 km from Hanoi, is one of the most popular destinations for visitors to enjoy the fresh air and cool weather all year round.

Coming to Moc Chau at any time of the year, you can also enjoy the flower fields stretching to the eye. Each season has its own beauty depending on the season of each blooming flowers, so you have to visit Moc Chau many times to discover the nature of the Northwest mountains and forests.

Coming to Moc Chau, in addition to admiring the natural beauty of the mountains, visitors also enjoy the specialties of mountainous ethnic groups such as spring fish, dried buffalo meat (hung over the fire), taro…

#5. Lam Vien Plateau

Lam Vien Plateau is one of the top tourist destinations in the Central Highlands due to owning beautiful scenery and cool climate.

There are many interesting stops for tourists such as Dalat city with Xuan Huong lake, Than Tho lake, high peaks like Lang Biang, Bi Doup … or large waterfalls such as Prenn waterfall, Elephant waterfall, Cam Ly waterfall …

Every year, in November and December, wind sunflowers bloom and beautify the plateau with bright and attractive yellow color.

#6. Bac Ha Plateau

The Bac Ha Plateau, also known as the White Plateau, is located between Lao Cai and Ha Giang provinces, spreading over districts of Bac Ha, Si Ma Cai, Xin Man and Hoang Su Phi.

The plateau has an average elevation of 1,000 meters, and the highest peak is Kieu Lieu Ti. Like Dong Van, Bac Ha plateau is a limestone plateau and is famous for Bac Ha plum cultivated by mountainous people. It also has many cultural features, in which the most outstanding one is the colorful fair of Bac Ha.

In addition, the market with a full range of products of mountainous people is also an interesting destination that visitors should not miss when having the opportunity to come here.

#7. Sin Chai plateau

This small plateau is located in Tua Chua district (Dien Bien district), with an average elevation of 1,500 meters above sea level.

Sin Chai, about 4 km away from Sapa, is the home of 1,400 Hmong people with a strong ethnic cultural identity. From Sin Chai, in the days when there are not many clouds, people can admire the hidden beauty of Fansipan in the distance.

#8. Lang Biang Plateau (Lam Dong)

Lang Biang Plateau, also known as Lam Vien Plateau, has an average elevation of about 1,500 m above sea level. The south of the plateau is the romantic city of Dalat.

Lang Biang Plateau possesses many famous tourist destinations, including Lang Biang Mountain, Xuan Huong Lake, Than Tho Lake, Vang Stream, Cam Ly Waterfall, Prenn Waterfall, etc.

Due to the diversity of topography, biology, high- quality tourism services and cool climate all year round, Lang Biang Plateau always makes many tourists coming here want to make an appointment to come back. The ideal time to visit Lang Biang Plateau is at the end of the year – the early spring in order to be satisfied with thousands of blooming flowers.

#9. Di Linh Plateau

Di Linh Plateau is one of two plateaus covering the area of Lam Dong Province. Although Di Linh is not as famous as Lang Biang Plateau, this place is full of rustic beauty of an upland countryside where has not been exploited for tourism. Di Linh Plateau has the cool climate, rolling hills, and winding roads.

The Fertile red basaltic soil is a good condition to grow coffee, tea, and terraced fields. In the wild sunflowers season, the path through Phu Hiep Pass is one of the paths that many young people go to take photographs.

In addition, coming to the Di Linh Plateau, visitors should also visit the Leprosy home to experience peaceful, quiet atmosphere here.

Yangon and Bago are two of the most known destinations in Myanmar. Yangon the city where is still kept almost the ancient architectures, Bago where is available two towns (the new and old town) are located along two sides of Ayeyarwady river very beautiful.

Day 01:  Yangon arrival (D)

As soon you arrive at the Yangon airport, you are met and transferred to hotel to chek in. Then, our trip is started by exploring  Botataung Pagoda, Bogyoke (Scott) Market this is also the largest market in Yangon.

This evening we walk around China Town where you can find a lof of the special souvenirs which are made by the locals in Myanmar, it is very cheap and good. After that, we enjoy our welcome dinner at the local restaurant in the center of Yangon.

Day 02:  Yangon – Bago – Yangon (B/L/D)

Breakfast at Hotel. After breakfast we will provide journey  to Bago. On the way visit Htaukkyant War Cemetery. We will depart from here directly sightseeing in Bago featuring  are  Shwemawdaw Pagoda higher than the Great Shwedagon Pagoda startedby Mon donor). Kambawzathardi Palace Kanbawza Thadi Palace was built by King Bayinnaung, the founder of the second Myanmar Empire. We have lunch at RestaurantThen

After lunch, we travel to Shwethalyaung Reclining Buddha which was lost and over ground in the jungle near the Hinthagon hillock. On the way return our hotel in Yangon, we will stop at Kyaikpun where is Mon’s meaning four enormous Buddha Images sitting back around a huge square pillar.

This evening, we have dinner at the local restaurant

Day 03:  Yangon – Departure (B)

Breakfast at Hotel, and we will visit White jade Buddha, Tooth relic Temple before transfer you to the airport to catch your flight back home

This trip will create you the chance to explore the most famous and ancient pagodas and temples at the tourist places of Myanmar such as Botataung Pagoda and Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. The Htilominlo Temple, Gubyaukgyi Temple, Ananda Temple, Thabinnyu Temple in Bagan, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda in Mandalay….

Day 01: Yangon arrival (D)

Upon arrival at the airport in Yangon, our driver and tour guide will hold a greeting board to pick up and escort you to hotel for check in.

Then, we start our trip by visiting Botataung Pagoda, at here you have a chance to see the hair of Buddha that have been escorted by the Indian 1000 military officers. After that, our trip head to the Bogyoke (Scott) Market where is still considered as the largest market in Yangon and you can buy any souvenir and anything at here. Our trip continue walking to China Town where you will see a lot of vendor on the platform and you can buy many products which are made by Myanmar locals.

This evening, we enjoy a welcome dinner the local restaurant.

Day 02: Yangon – Bagan (B/L/D)

After breakfast at hotel, you are met and escorted to the airport to catch a short flight to Bagan. Upon arrival to Bagan, you are picked up and transfered to hotel for check in.

This afternoon, we take a trip to visit all main sights of Bagan included: Nyaung U Market, Htilominlo Temple, Gubyaukgyi Temple, Myinkabar village, Ananda Temple, Thabinnyu Temple, Dhammayangyi Temple. After the trip, we enjoy the sunset from the terrace of Shwesandaw Pagoda until transfer you back hotel for overnight in Bagan

Day 03: Bagan – Mandalay (B/L/D)

At around 8am, after your breakfast at hotel, our driver picks up and transfer you to the airport to catch a flight to Madalay where we will visit the most famous destinations at here.

Firstly, our trip is started to visit U Bein Bridge where you can walk on the longest teakwood bridge in the world. After visiting the world’s longest teakwood bridge in the world, we continue our trip to Mahamuni Image, the Tapestry made home cottage, the Marble carved workshop, the Gold-leaf Beating workshop, the silk weaving home cottage, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda with a large Buddha image carved out of a single block of marble, Shwenandaw Monastery (Golden Palace) where is know by its exquisite wood carving, Kuthodaw Pagoda where is known as the world’s Biggest Book for its stones slabs of Buddhist scriptures, Sulamani Pagoda and Mandalay Palace.

In the late afternoon, we enjoy the sunset from Mandalay Hill.

Day 04: Mandalay – Yangon Departure  (B)

Free time until our driver picks up and escorts you to the airport to catch your flight back home or catch a short flight back Yangon.

Arrival to Bagan, we check in to hotel, then we take sightseein at here, firstly we visit the e colorful of Nyaung U Market, Shwezigon Pagoda and its magnificent golden stupa, Htilominlo Temple where is special for its fine plaster carvings and glazed and stone decoration, Gubyaukgyi Temple where is superb mural paintings of jataka scenes. Then, we visit to Myinkabar village and see the process of Traditional Lacquer ware Industry which is considered as one of Myanmar’s best-known handicrafts. Ananda Temple, an architected masterpiece of the early-style temple with four impressive standing Buddha images. Thabinnyu Temple this is also the highest temple in Bagan. Dhammayangyi Temple is known with its remarkable brickwork.

We enjoy the sunset over the site from the mighty terrace of Shwesandaw Pagoda.

Then proceed short visit to  Nyaungshwe route to Inle Lake, we will arrange a traditional motorized boat back hotel, this is on a scenic of Inle Lake. Before we leave from the jetty of Nyaung Shwe to go to lake water surface where change colour because the sky is coming spectrum color while going to sunset and you can take photo on a long boat. The lake shores and the floating villages are mostly inhabited by the Intha people. the boat trip excursion at Inle lake includes blacksmith and silversmith workshop, floating islands, Unique leg-rowers, Phaung Daw Oo pagoda, Tradition fishing methods and the silk weaving. Then we visit to Nga Phe Chaung Monastery, so it is called “jumping cats monastery”.

If you have a short time but want to explore all the most famous sightseeing of Myanmar, this exactly the itinerary you are finding. The trip is started and finished from Yangon but it is flexible to change upon your return international flights.

Day 01:       Yangon arrival – Bago  – Kyaikhto (B)

Upon arrival in Yangon International Airport you will meet with your guide and we will provide journey  to Bago. On the way visit Htaukkyant War Cemetery. We will depart from here directly sightseeing in Bago to visit Shwemawdaw Pagoda. DAY 1: YANGON ARRIVAL

The visual delights present there alone, are worth the trip. Witness the colors transform on the 100-meter chedi which is literally enclosed in over 40 tons of gold leaf. You will start at the eastern staircase where you will find a row of shops at the base of the temple selling various religious items. Here you will find monks robes, alms bowls, offerings, incense and other unique Buddhist objects. As your browse, the stalls your guide will explain the use and rituals of Myanmar’s Buddhist people. Shwedagon is largely considered to be the most important religious site for the Burmese; most visitors report that the trip is extremely memorable and still etched into their minds.

After sunset head on to Chinatown for a change of scenery and check out the dragons and incense of the colorful Khen Hock Keong Chinese temple. DAY 3: YANGON – BAGAN (B)
In the morning, you will take a flight to Bagan. Upon arrival, start your trip with a visit to Nyang U Market which is a typical market which remained in Myanmar for centuries.

Next, head to Shwezigon pagoda, which is one of the most significant religious buildings in Myanmar, for it served as a prototype for later stupas built throughout the country and marked an important development in the relationship between traditional Burmese religion and Theravada Buddhism. Continue on to Khay Min Ga Temple to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of numerous surrounding monuments. Next up is Ananda Temple. A masterpiece in the incorporation of Myanmar and India architectural styles, the temple houses four standing Buddhas, each facing a distinct direction.

DAY 4: BAGAN – MT. POPA – BAGAN (B)
OPTIONAL – PRICE: US$ 285: You will be picked up early in the morning in the pre-dawn hours to the balloon launch site. During the time of preparation of the balloon for flight, you will be served with coffee and pastries. This wicker basket consists of smaller sections which provide big space and allows uninterrupted views. As you rise high into the sky, the sun will accompany you and the whole city will unveil itself in front of your eyes. Your flight lasts for about one hour, depending on many factors like wind conditions.

After breakfast, you’ll visit busy Nyaung Oo market. Then, you’ll take a break from temple touring in Bagan to visit Mount Popa, an extinct volcano standing 1518 meters high Mount Popa has played an important role in Myanmar culture, religion and history since earliest times. Its shrine is dedicated to the worship of the 37 Nats, the Burmese ancient animist spirits. Learn about nats and nat worship as you climb the stairs to the top with your local guide. The view over the Myingyan Plain from the top of the volcanic peak is impressive (and the climb is optional!).

Afterward, we’ll drive back to Bagan, a one-hour journey. Along the way, we will stop in a local village where the people use the fruit of the palm tree to make wine and molasses. Witness the incredible production process. Upon arrival in Bagan, head to the jetty for an incredible sunset landscape on the river.

DAY 5: BAGAN – INLE LAKE (B)
After enjoying your breakfast you will be transferred to the airport (1 hour) for your domestic flight to Heho. From Heho, you will experience a lovely scenic one-hour drive (32km – 1 hour) which leads to Nyaung Shwe, gateway village to Inle Lake. Along the way, you will have an opportunity to visit rural workshops that specialize in traditional Shan paper and unique handcrafted umbrellas. Upon reaching the edge of the lake, take a short orientation tour of Nyaung Shwe, a small town of narrow streets dotted with temples, monasteries, tea shops and local houses.

Then you will board a private motorboat and begin heading out onto Inle Lake, one of Myanmar’s most spectacular and breathtaking sights. Its calm waters are dotted with floating vegetation and fishing canoes, to which scenic hills provide the perfect backdrop. Along the way, you will pass several villages that are built on stilts over the lake, which is inhabited by the local Intha people. Observe the daily activities of the local leg-rowing fishermen and see their ‘floating gardens’, which are built up from strips of water hyacinth, earth and anchored to the bottom of the lake with bamboo poles. You will also visit Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery, which houses loads of early Shan Buddha Images. In the past this temple was known for its ‘jumping cats’ but these days there are only a few felines roaming around and none are jumping anymore. Yet the Buddha images are still worth the visit.

Proceed to the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main haven, which contains five sacred images of Buddha decorated in gold leaf. There are also many traditional crafts originating on Inle Lake and should you wish, we can stop for a visit to boat builders (depending on the time of year), a cigar making workshop, blacksmiths or even silversmiths. The day will come to a close with a return trip by boat back to your hotel.

DAY 6: INLE LAKE – INDEIN – INLE LAKE (B)
After breakfast, you’ll pay a visit to the lake’s morning market (the market is open every day apart from the dark moon and full moon calendar days). The market’s location rotates between the lake’s villages in a 5-day schedule and is also visited daily by the lake’s inhabitants as well as the surrounding natives who also come to sell and trade their wares.

A 1-hour boat ride down a small canal will take you to Indein, positioned on the western shores of Inle Lake. Take a leisurely stroll around the village before ascending a rural road to the top of a hill. Once you’ve arrived at the summit, you will be greeted by an iconic Buddha image which sits enshrined among hundreds of stupa ruins and overgrown shrubbery. Here, from the peak, you will also be rewarded with mesmerizing views of the placid surroundings. The Indein Pagoda complex is undoubtedly one of the most amazing sites around the shore of the lake and it consists of hundreds of small stupas which are overrun by moss and greenery. On your boat ride back, should time allow and if you wish, you’ll stop at the Inthar Heritage House to learn more about the history and culture of the lake’s indigenous people and enjoy a delicious coffee and cake (snack break not included).

DAY 7: INLE LAKE – MANDALAY – MINGUN – AMARAPURA – MANDALAY (B)
After early breakfast, take a flight to Mandalay. Upon your arrival, you will make your way to the jetty for an excursion by boat on the Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun, 11km upriver from Mandalay. Visit unfinished Mingun Paya, MingunBell (90 tons) and HsinbyumePaya. Come back to Mandalay.

In the afternoon, drive to Amarapura and visit Mahagandayone Monastery where more than one thousands of monks live and study. Proceed to the Mahamuni Pagoda, Shwenandaw Monastery (noted for its exquisite wood carvings) and Kuthodaw Pagoda (known as the world’s Biggest Book). Visit U Bein Bridge across Taungthaman Lake, over 150 years old and which is still in use. From here you will observe an amazing sunset. Lunch and Dinner on own account. Overnight stay in Mandalay.

DAY 8: MANDALAY – DEPARTURE (B)

#1. Ha Long Bay

Halong Bay is located on the west coast of the Gulf of Tonkin including the sea islands of Ha Long City, Cam Pha City and part of Van Don island district, Quang Ninh province. Halong Bay has a coastline of 120 km, an area of about 1,553 square kilometers including 1,969 large and small islands, mostly limestone islands, in which, the core of the bay has an area of 335 square kilometers with 775 big and small islands.

Not only does Halong have poetic beauty and numerous limestone islands floating on the water, Halong also gives visitors a sense of peace when being immersed in the scenery. Rated as one of the world’s 29 most beautiful bays, in late March 2012, the New Open World organization also officially recognized Ha Long Bay as one of the new seven natural wonders of the world.

#2. Thien Mu Pagoda

Thien Mu Pagoda, also known as Linh Mu Pagoda, is an ancient temple situated on Ha Khe hill, on the left bank of the Perfume River, about 5km from Hue city center to the west. Thien Mu Pagoda was officially built in the year of Tan Suu (1601) under the reign of Lord Tien Nguyen Hoang, the first Lord of Nguyen Dynasty in Dang Trong.

With its natural beauty and vast scale, Thien Mu Pagoda became the most beautiful temple at that time. Through historical events, Thien Mu Pagoda used to be placed to set up an altar and offer prayers and sacrifices to heaven under the reign of Tay Son (in about 1788), then was rebuilt several times under Nguyen dynasty. Today, the temple continues to be restored and reconstructed to become more glorious, magnificent and always charming attracting visitors from near and far.

#3. Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake

Hoan Kiem Lake, also known as Sword Lake, is a natural freshwater lake in the city of Hanoi. The lake has an area of approximately 12 hectares. Previously, the lake also had the other names of Luc Thuy Lake, Thuy Quan Lake, Ta Vong and Huu Vong Lake. The name of Hoan Kiem first appeared in the fifteenth century in association with the legend of King Le Thai To returning the Sword to the Golden Turtle.

Hoi An city is located on the northern bank of Thu Bon river downstream, about 25km from Da Nang city to the southeast and about 50km from the city of Tam Ky to the northeast. In the sixteenth, seventeenth century, this place was famous for the name of Faifoo, the major trading centers in South East Asia of traders from Japan, China, Portugal, Italy….

Trieu Duong Bay (Binh Thuan province) attracts visitor not only with beautiful beach but also with picnic activities, stylish mobile live music performances.

Trieu Duong Bay is located on Tam Thanh commune, Phu Quy island district, Binh Thuan province, about only 1km from Phu Quy port. The scenery here is extremely beautiful with white sandy beach stretching out kilometers, green lines of poplar, lines of coconut tree with black rock beach wild Tranh island in the other side… All creates a beautiful and poetic picture favored by the nature mother.

Thanks to the good location, Trieu Duong bay is not only the ideal destination of islanders, but also a place where visitors everywhere “come but not want to leave”. In addition to Hon Mun and Hon Tam, Hon Ong Island is also one of the places where are worth visiting with unspoiled beach when you travel to Khanh Hoa.

Most foreign visitors give Hon Ong (Whale Island) mark 9 or 10 in terms of its landscape and location. Many visitors confirm that this is truly a beach paradise for them. One thing worth mentioning is that international visitors often stay here in quite a long time (3-4 days, even 8-9 days), so their feeling and thinking is often more objective than that of Vietnamese tourists (who almost stay in the island in only 1 night).

Accommodation

On Hon Ong Island, you has only one option for accommodation, Whale Island Resort. You can book a room by credit card through the booking website or call directly. The rooms here are separate thatched wooden bungalows under the canopy of coconut trees and adjacent to the main beach. The price of the room including breakfast for 2 people is about 1 million VND/ night. Price for family room of 4 people is about 1.4 million, it can be added one person, the extra bed fee is 120,000 VND / person. The resort fixes the time of check in the room is at 2 pm and that of check out is before 12 am of the next day. However, you may come here early and then leave the luggage for the receptionists and go around the island.

The resort is designed in harmony with nature, the rooms are only equipped with ceiling fans, simple bathroom, but they are thatched and surrounded by many trees, so it is very cool, at night, you might have to use a blanket to avoid the cold.

There are about 30 bungalows for rent on Hon Ong island, restaurants, bars, massage areas, diving service area… are all gathered in the main beach.

Entertainment activities on Hon Ong Island

Hon Ong island is a relatively small area, so all fun activities are focused on the main beach. You can only explore the island by walking or traveling by kayak with activities such as:

Snorkeling

Facilities include a diving glass enclosed with snorkel and two propellers. The place for snickering is around the main beach and the cost about 60,000 CND/ person/ day. Corals near the main beach on Hon Ong is not very beautiful and rich, the only advantage is the clear water. Fish species is slightly poor in terms of both quantity and type, but there are a lot of Sea urchins; therefore, you have to pay close attention to avoid getting hurt because of treading on them.

Kayaking around the island

Facilities include a 2-seater kayak, life jacket and a paddle. You can row around the island for about 100,000 VND for 2 hours.

Trekking exploring the road around the island

The only on land game which can be explored on the island is trekking. There are 3 points that you can stop and take beautiful photos including Red & White Trail, Blue Trail and Yellow Trail. Total time for walking off the island is about 2 hours. You can use walking maps for convenience. This activity is free, so you should take time to walk around the island.

Scuba Diving

It may take the whole morning or afternoon to have a training if you want to dive here. Hon Ong island is where is appreciated to be very nice for diving by many visitors.

• “Sompiah” is a popular way of greeting toward those who have the social status equal or higher than you. It is the traditional way to say hello of Khmer people by pressing your palms together in front of the nose along with a slight bow. Nowadays, although shaking hands is commonplace and accepted, you can still greet others in this way and then shake their hand.

• Don’t point at someone directly or touch their head/hair because Cambodians regard it as the sacred body part.

• Traveling to Cambodia, it is essential to remember to take off your hat and shoes before you come in temples. Besides, sitting in a higher position than a monk’s is also a taboo. If you are a woman, don’t touch the monks.
• Don’t express your anger. This is a signal of losing control and impoliteness. Under all circumstances, you should keep your smile and calm down to solve the problem.

2. Pay attention to your clothes

• Dress simply and discreetly when you visit temples as well as Royal Palace in Phnom Penh. You should also consider buying a T-shirt and sarong matching your clothes before entering a temple.

With the perfect combination of mountains, islands and lakes, Thung Nai has a poetic beauty and bring tourists with relaxed moments.

Thung Nai, in recent years, has been become a familiar destination at weekend of the lovers of peace, avoiding the noisy, smoke and dust. Being a commune in Cao Phong district, Hoa Binh Province, Thung Nai is located in the Da River Reservoir, 25 km from the city center and about 110 km from Hanoi.

The name of Thung Nai make many people think of a valley with roaming deer. According to local residents, Thung Nai used to be inhabited by many species of deer. Poetic images of the bewildered deer in the afternoon sun on the slopes reflected on Da river was used to name this land by local people.

Today, coming to Thung Nai, we can not see forest deer, but poetic, romantic beauty of the mountains, the river here seems to be completely original. To discover this “valley of yellow deer ” the only way is to travel by boat or on foot. Leaving the car on the bank, taking a motorboat, visitors will take part in a tour on the hydropower reservoir.

In the cool wind blowing from the lake, the picturesque scenery of Thung Nai appears in front of the visitors. A large lake is surrounded by majestic mountains. In the lake, hundreds of large and small ” islands” undulate as the spectacular natural masterpieces. Floating on the water, you will feel like you are travelling on a “Ha Long Bay on land”.

Being the perfect combination of lakes and rocks, Thac Bo cave is the destination not to be missed in Thung Nai. The cave is located deep inside the mountain and quite wild, but the inside scenery is extremely beautiful. The “forest” of stalactites grow from the ground and fall down from the ceiling with strange shapes. After rising water season, visitors can enjoy the fish swimming around in shallow, clear water. 

An interesting thing here is that when the Black River is shallow, visitors have to climb up the stone steps, and therefore people sometimes get tired or falter. However, in flooding season, water rises and covers the steps, tourists can visit Thac Bo temple near Thac Bo cave by boat. If you go on Sunday, do not forget to visit Thac Bo floating market. The market is not too noisy or crowded, but it is the typical culture of Muong people in Thung Nai.

Following the journey of the boat, you will encounter a tall windmill on the small island which attracts anyone’s gaze passing by. This is like the call of holiday cottages in the middle of the lake. Therefore, even travelling within a day or stay overnight, most tourists coming to Thung Nai want to visit this small island to see firsthand the windmill which seems to be only in the Netherlands, or in the famous novel “Don Quixote – the talented nobleman in Manta”.

Not only fancy, the windmill here also owns the beautiful location to see the sight. From here, you can freely zoom your eyes, capture the whole ink painting picture of Thung Nai in sight. If visiting the windmill in the early morning, you will find Thung Nai engulfed in mist, when the sun rises, the clear blue lake is sparkling with yellow of the sunlight.

In addition to unspoiled natural scenery, the special feasts of Muong people have become highlights of Thung Nai. They are the fish caught from spring, chicken raised in hills and wild vegetables….

Immersing in the pristine beaches with clear blue water, riding on the countryside  roads to visit a few traditional villages and experiencing the delicious, unique cuisine are something that tourists can not miss when visiting Binh Dinh, the land of martial arts.

Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province is in the south-central coast area of Vietnam. Visitors can travel from Hanoi to Quy Nhon by bus which costs about 570, 000- 650,000 VND/ ticket and takes almost a day of travel. If starting from Saigon, tourists buy tickets (around 250,000- 350,000 VND) and will reach Quy Nhon after 13 hours sitting in the bus.

In addition, plane is an ideal choice for those who want to save travel time. Currently, the routes Hanoi – Quy Nhon and Saigon – Quy Nhon are availably provided by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air. One-way ticket (from Hanoi) costs 1.5 to 3 million VND, about 480,000 to 1.3 million VND (from Saigon).

Following is the suggested itinerary of a 3 day trip discovering Binh Dinh for reference:

Day 1: Quy Nhon – Nhon Ly Sand Hill – Trung Luong Beach, Vinh Hoi

In the morning, tourists arrive in Quy Nhon city, check in hotel and visit attractions around the city of Quy Nhon.

8 am: After breakfast, visitors get the car through Thi Nai lagoon to reach Nhon Ly. Here, you will have opportunity to enjoy the fresh air with wind blowing from Eo Gio rapid and see the strange creation from sand dunes, or play sand sliding on the sand hill of Nhon Ly.

10 am: After that, you continue your journey to Trung Luong beach, a pristine beach in Cat Tien commune, Phu Cat district. There is also a relic of Ong Nui pagoda (also known as Linh Phong Pagoda) which is very sacred.

Trung Luong beach attracts more and more tourists who come here to get immersed in the spectacular natural scenery, vast ocean filled with sand dunes, alternating between yellow sandy beaches and blue waves. Additionally, the giant stones stand on the seaside followed by hundreds of meters of undulating cliffs with stones of strange shapes.

To fully feel the beauty of the Trung Luong beach, visitors must walk along the coast to pass the bumpy road of stone, the natural landscape in front of you is like making people to forget all the tiredness. Visiting Trung Luong beach in the summer, tourists are immersed in the cool water, immerse in the beautiful natural scenery of this place.

12am: Continue your journey by crossing a fairly short pass to Vinh Hoi Beach, where has multiple rows of casuarina with white sandy beaches. You can camp and relax with friends. Behind the beach, there are many local camps set up to sell beverage, hammocks for guests to rest. The space here is very quiet, not noisy and the price is affordable. It is advised to enjoy seafood here, or if you come to the beach in the right time, you can buy seafood and ask local people to cook delicious dishes.

3pm: After bathing, relaxing, tourists should go to Phuoc Hoa commune to visit the ancient tower of Binh Lam. This is one of the Cham towers which are very well preserved. During the journey back to the coastal city of Quy Nhon, you can also visit the grave of the ancestor of Boi Singing art – Dao Tan- in Phuoc Nghia Commune. From here, riding another path, visitors will meet the town of Tuy Phuoc, turn left to Highway 19 to come back to Dinh market and to Quy Nhon city.

In the evening, visitors can stroll in the parks, along the beach on Xuan Dieu Street with a glass of sugarcane juice or a few sunflower seeds in the cool sea breeze.
