Stick on Poppies into their 12th year!! 6 Oct 12:25 AM (16 days ago)

This will be our 12th year of supporting the 2 local Royal British Legion group in their Poppy Appeal through our stick-on poppy initiative!
In that time we have raised over £20,000 – taking not one penny from the initiative by spending at least 100 man hours each year in the promoting, taking and processing orders, posting them to distant clubs and banking and processing payments.
In previous years, we used the 2 petal Poppy Appeal image as the background to the image design – unfortunately someone complained to RBL that we didn’t have copyright and we were told to stop using it by them – despite us taking no profit whatsoever! We feel that this was probably a business that takes their commission and passes on a small % of the poppy sale price.
For a fleeting second, we felt that this would stop us continuing – instead we will carry on supporting a fantastic cause!
As a result, we commissioned Sophie Hardy to design our own Poppy sticker as below. We think it’s fantastic and hope you do too. Thanks so much Soph!
Our fantastic friends at Bri-Stor will produce the poppies free of charge for us – thanks once again for their support.
We are now taking orders.
Please cmail if you’d like some for your teams to wear during their matches on Remembrance Weekend. We look for a donation of one pound per poppy.

Club supports FA Big Football Day! 11 Jul 12:31 AM (3 months ago)

The club joined in the FA Big Football Day initiative to celebrate the Lionesses at the Euros.
Our Ladies First team manager and players joined in with some of our wildcats players and ex player Lily Simkin, now of Wolves and an U15s England international, came to meet some of our teams training at Long Lane last night. Our new U7s boys also wanted to join in!
Thanks Lily for taking time out to meet our future Lily Simkins!
To celebrate further – and to get more girls playing – any new girls attending one of our 3 Wildcats centres next week can do so FREE! Get in touch to book a place.

Club becomes FA The Greater Game Club! 13 Mar 6:07 AM (7 months ago)

We are really excited to announce we have been granted an FA The Greater Game Club – one of only 30 in the whole of England!!
With the support and partnership from Nuffield Health and M&S Food, The Greater Game’s mission is to use the power of football to generate positive transformations in both the on-field performance and off field lifestyle choices of 12–16-year-olds. Healthier action can mean different things to different people. We describe it as Moving Well, Eating Well, Sleeping Well and Thinking Well. All of which help create holistic health and wellbeing.
This is great recognition for the club and will enable us to provide guidance on a healthier lifestyle for our players.
Watch this space for more announcements and guidance.

Happy International Women’s Day!! 8 Mar 12:46 AM (7 months ago)

Happy International Women’s Day to all women connected to the club.
We have many women involved in positions of influence within our club – and we are extremely proud of that!
We have:
* 3 out of 7 committee members female
* 1 wider committee member a woman
* 11 teams managed by women
* a Wildcats Centre managed by a woman
* a further 6 female coaches
* our Youth Committee co-ordinator female
* 4 female bar staff
* we are told by Staffs FA we have more female coaches than any other club in the County!
and, of course, nearly 1000 mums who get involved with teams and the club in so many ways.
Without their fresh ideas, commitment, challenge when needed, innovation and effort, the club could not exist.
BUT we are not complacent. The Club is a true community club and we want more women to get involved in coaching and positions, where they can make a difference.
Please give a like to all the women involved in our Club and try and push any you know, who could improve what we do, to put their hands up to do things too.

Wyrley in the Community! 1 Jan 11:29 PM (9 months ago)

For the 4th year running, the club put on a fantastic spread for 50 local residents who have done things for the wider community or are of a certain age or who have had a tough 2024.
We always look forward to providing a free Christmas lunch, bingo and raffle and to thank in person our local friends.
We couldn’t do this without the kind food donations from Tesco’s Heath Hayes, Morrisons Cannock and a few local residents and members of the club – thanks all!
We also thank the many who donated raffle prizes.
Praise must be given to Jo, Pete, Seb, Spence, Chris, Ellie, Soph and Becky for preparing the lunch and bar staff Trish and Lucy who gave up their day.

Wyrley in the Community at Christmas! 1 Jan 11:26 PM (9 months ago)

We were delighted, humbled and extremely happy to deliver 150 fish and chip suppers to some lovely people in our Cheslyn Hay, Great Wyrley and Essington communities tonight.
This is our annual effort to bring a little cheer and a smile to faces – delivered by parents and many of our young players – on a night that can be difficult for some.
All the recipients were nominated by local residents – thanks for identifying some wonderful people!
We are very grateful again to the huge support given to us by Walsh Funeral & Memorials and to Richardson Brothers Foundation.
And, of course, we again give huge thanks to Bridgtown Chippy and Silly Sausage Café for opening up just for us on New Year’s Eve.
Some images of the suppers being handed over can be found on the link: –
